Now the thread will be about that and only that, then after the dev is fed up of it the game will end up like AOD with a brothel without whores :)

No, but you can kill them both, and loot their meager possessions.
You could get a lot of media attention just by adding the option that I would've gone for.
Consider the implications. Your game could go viral.

I'd have to sell it on the black market. Would be totally banned in at least my country. They almost banned We Happy Few because of a little pill popping.

I'm working on new NPC avatars and animations as per some of your feedback here. I decided to go with a angled view instead of front on, so that I can animate them walking left and right. Opinions? A: old, B: new. (haven't done the animations yet)

So combat is sort of like simultaneously executed single actions, as in Ultima or Teudogar? I think I saw opponents chasing the PC while the PC stayed put in the video, so I was confused whether it was RT round-based.

Yes thats right. Think Ultima 6 combat, but with a little more real-time aspect to it. The combat pauses while the player selects spells or chooses an action. Im still considering re-working this idea.

So what does this game offer than Tome does not already do better?

EDIT: For the confused button mashers the full name is Tales of Maj'Eyal, if you have not heard of it or played it, it is your loss. It is basically this game but 20x bigger.

Difficult to answer that, as this is the first I have heard of Tome. I just looked it up and it looks awesome! It looks quite different to mine in pace and seems to be more tactically focused... I'd like to give it a play though, but alas, time does not allow right now.

I have no idea what you're on about. TOME is a roguelike focused on char-building and combat. This game is supposed to be like a exploration driven type RPG.

In what manner are they the same? The viewpoint?

Angled option (B) looks a bit eh, wimpy. Maybe a bit more intimidating pose? And a few pixels worth more muscles :)

This is just for an NPC. Could be a shopkeeper. I'm planning a Male generic, female generic, male/female child, and muscular male. In various skin tones, hair styles/colours and attire. I'm keeping the animation frames low, as I never intended this to me an animation extravaganza and helps keep the workload lower, so that I can focus on other aspects of the game. Will post an update as soon as I can.

Single character, graphics, viewpoint, combat. Probably even character development but Tome will always have more options. Only thing that this game might have over Tome is more focus on quests and conversations.

Yeah, one is real time and the other is turn based. Fucking copycat.
What? Both are turn based... at least the on in the KS video looked TB.
And I am not accusing anyone of being a copycat, don't put words in my mouth.

It is just that when I seen the KS, all I could think of is Tome so I wonder why I should play this over Tome.

It is same question I ask myself when I enter Black Geyser topic, why should I play this over BGEE or PoE.

OK, I will leave you guys to your stupid hopes and hype, this topic is not Codex enough to warrant my attention. I will keep following it in the hope that in some future it offers more than Tome.

Tome looks nothing like Ultima 7 at all.
How can you even compare those 0 games?
Tome is like 0/10 on the scale of looking like Ultima 7, while Code of Savage is at leat 7/10.
It's like comparing this to ToME is like comparing Underrail with Mass Effect.
And ToMe isn't a very good game on its own due to coold-down based ability combat system. It feels like turn-based WOW with poorer graphic and less immersion. Caves of Qud also has cooldowns, but at least you have less abilities there on a character. Much better game! Better lore and presentation and immersion, graphics, gameplay.
I have 40 hours in Caves of Qud, but only 20 hours in Tome.

Thanks to some feedback I've received here, I have overhauled the NPC sprites/animations.
The player avatar and also monsters will also get a face lift. I'm new to animating, so I'm teaching myself as I go.

On a personal level, why are you making this video game, if I may?

I get a lot of enjoyment out of creating it, and I love creating worlds. I want to see how people react when they play the game. I've had the idea rattling around in my head for a long time, and finally decided to put it into action.
