You can always change the pledged amount on Kickstarter. It's not like the initially pledged amount is final. You can always add to it. I think that the best idea would be to go for the $5000 as soon as we have the funds and add to that whatever extra funds we gather over the next few weeks right at the end.

I don't think that the devs will put in the game something that will look out of place and break the setting. They will probably make it an isnside joke between them and the donator. I doubt that non-informed players will even notice that some locations, objects and NPCs are somehow based on the backers.
