This whole game hangs on mods, they are what kept CK2 alive for such a long time and they are what gives CK2 brevity and depth. I foresee major problems with total conversions now that we have these brand new FULLY SCULPTED MODELS instead of just static faces.

Shouldn't pose any problems for mods such as HIP or CK+.

I played for like two hours so far. And I fucking hate it.
The interface alone makes me vomit. It looks like a unity game placeholder. CK2 UI was stylized this is just rage inducing.
Also everything feels looking like through a looking glass. Everything is so big and you can't see shit easily. Like for example looking through my Vassal list - I can only see character at the time?
And what the hell is with the three traits limit. Character in CK2 seemed complex this is feels like it's made for retard that never played a Paradox game.
But probably it's because it's going to have a console version. It needs to be this dumbed down.

What are you on 'bout? Members of my dynasty easily have 4-5 personality traits (my heir has 4).

Anyone who's played it know if Shattered Lands is included on default? If not, is there mod already out for it?

I was referring to the personality traits. Those other you are showing are either biological traits, war traits etc.

In CK2 you were able to have a laundry list of personality traits. It made the character very unique. Here they are relegated to this weird trifecta.

Game sucks. Somehow they made the UI worse and more annoying. The 3d models are not historically accurate at all for some ethnicity. Gameplay is extremely basic and the new added perk system just adds pointless clicking through more boring menus that add fluff. I wonder how much paradox spent to buy off the reviewers.

Shit reminds me when the civilization made it on consoles for the first time except that was at least fun.

Have you read what I wrote? My current king (the one featured in the picture died like 15 minutes after taking the screenshot, lol) has 4, I saw characters with 5. These ridiculous buckets of traits are more of a mod thing than of the base game, in base game characters rarely had more than 4-5 traits.

CK2 traits were deep as a puddle and didn't significantly alter neither AI nor player behavior. Now they are fewer since they have to synergize with the stress mechanic, but that only adds further complexity to a character's personality than just a bunch of stat modifiers as was the case with CK2 traits.

While I agree that the previous system was heavy on those stat modifiers - all those traits would also unlock certain events and decisions and choices that were locked if you didn't have it. It also gave those events to the AI if I remember correctly now all characters when it comes to the character traits look very samey. Maybe it will actually be better after I play it more, but for now seems like a step backwards. But that's modern Paradox. Instead of fixing something they tend to just cut it.

Yeah, I really don't mind having fewer traits as long as they're more impactful. CK2 traits were just small stat modifiers, and it was usually obvious which ones you wanted your heir to have (Ambitious, Patient, Diligent, Temperate, Gregarious etc). It wasn't a bad system, but it certainly could be improved.

That said, I am not hopeful at all of the new traits actually being more important and varied.

Is there a way to see titles' history? Can't find a button for that and I would like to see how they modeled the likes of Elagabalus and Nero.

I was honestly wondering why they decided to include Burma but if this guy is in the game, I concede it was a cool idea to have him.

Someone check the 1066 start date.

Anybody know when they are going to release the "free demo" ?
Paradox games aren't really well protected. It just needs to be uploaded to your "demo" site of choice.
