How is the performance? A shitshow like Stellaris or is it a different engine?

Performance seemed smooth, but my games lasted less than a couple decades. It takes centuries for Stellaris to start chugging in my system.

They're in the same extradimensional space where the rest of your levies chill. Raise your army and they'll be part of it.

Struggling to survive a century, but I haven't played any "easy" characters yet.

Actually think my next try will be Russia, had fun there with early CKII.
Struggling with who ? I need a challenge, i shouldnt have started with byzantium i already remade the roman empire and theres still 400 years to go. Game runs better but play exactly the same with less features, i dont think i'll spend hundreds of hours on this.

I don't think a challenge can really exist now. Its so easy to blob with how easily you fabricate claims or holy war, just constantly picking the weak targets off while milking money from your own vassals and from captured prisoners to jumpstart you demesne. Even if you lose wars the punishment is so minor, not like CK2 where you'd have to pay 5,000 gold. I did the roman empire as the italian karling, now I'm playing the recommended OPM tribal countess in africa and its very easy, I have 60,000 troops in 1061.

Incidentally has anyone pulled off the "Strengthen Bloodline" decision yet? It looks mad OP, basically a confirmed kwisatz haderach.

So I'm a norse pegan in England and I can't change my religion unless I get like 8*10^20 piety, and on top of that I'll need to control some sacred sites. Am I to understand that I'm basically done, unless I convert to catholicism?

I will say that the engine is a massive improvement over CK2 (or Paradox titles in general).

Also, Lord Farquaad has reincarnated as a fucking giant.
