E3 is just important because that's when they announce Epic Store exclusive deal :smug:

Makes no sense for them and would ruin their "against DRM" brand they build over the years.
They can now release 2 skins for characters and whole press will be talking about coming of jesus in depraved wasteland.

They won't go Epic exclusive, the more likely situation is that they release at Epic, Steam and Gog at the same time.

It would be funny if they went GOG and Steam only (or even everything but Epic).

They very well could do it, since they (as the parent company CDP and subsidiary GOG) have already taken a stance against DRM, and Epic exclusives hurt them directly. Plus, they really don't need Epic for the bigger dev cut since they have GOG. They'd just be giving Epic money and feeding the competition. Why the fuck would they? It's not like Epic has market share that doesn't overlap with other platforms.

They give Steam plenty of money, I don't see a difference when it comes to "supporting the competition." They tried to launch that Witcher card game thing only on GOG and publicly said it didn't work out. Indies have commented that GOG is literally like 5% of their sales, it's not that popular a store. My comment above was an obvious joke but if we're really talking about it I'm sure they would do a GOG/Epic launch if Epic wanted to hand them money for it.

IIRC they even had a layoff at GOG quite recently.

I like the idea of DRM free but the vast majority couldn't care less, and most people don't play old games either. It's kind of remarkable GOG has the support it does, however small in comparison. Also a lot of their newer games lack features the Steam versions have, and get updated later. I buy what I can there for the most part, but I'm pretty meh about the site overall now.

In an ideal RPG you should be able to kill anyone you please and still finish the game, but basically the entire game has to be structured with that in mind. There are only so many backdoors you can include for murderous players, and even those are not always viable (imagine wiping out the entire UNATCO HQ on your first visit there, or Geralt killing Ciri upon meeting her — sure, you could allow the player to do that sort of stuff, but you'd also need to write a very different game). CP2077 will probably have a really tight and fairly linear script, dozens of hours of cutscenes and an equally large number of characters who are integral to the main plot. Hopefully it'll have a more open structure than the Witcher games, but there's no way they'll allow you to kill everyone in a game like this.

In an ideal RPG world you would be hunted down like a rabid dog once you start your retarded murder hobo playthrough.

What sounds better - Cutscenepunk or Cybercutscene 2077? Since they removed the pen and paper focus I highly doubt I'd enjoy this game much.

If I remember correctly, they tweeted that they had no interest in an Epic exclusive release. That shouldn't be on the table. An Epic store release isn't unlikely, though, for the previously mentioned reasons regarding how minor of a platform Galaxy is. It's a shame - it's easily my favorite storefront.

Didn't they make Witcher 2 GoG exclusive for a week or something like that?

I don't remember, I pre-ordered.

IIRC, they gave 10% off if you pre-ordered from GOG, and another 10% off if you had the Witcher 1 on GOG.

Well, an ideal ideal RPG would allow you to kill those who would hunt you down and turn them into undead minions, and then, with an army at your beck and call, smother all life from the world.

What games have inspired you in the development of Cyberpunk 2077?

For my part, personally, Vampire Bloodlines, I do not know if you've heard of him. In terms of what is a RPG in the first person and the way in which its non-linearity is built in the gameplay and dialogue, so this one of course. We are all players and we enjoy different genres but as a personal question I would say Vampire Bloodlines. Specifically because it is the perfect example of a first person game and RPG that I personally enjoyed.

Of course then there is The Elder Scrolls, although it is more difficult to compare it with the latter because it is fantasy. And I would also say the Deus Ex franchise, especially the original Deus Ex. This one had a great impact on me as a developer and player back when I played it for the first time many years ago. And what I really liked about that game was completing the missions in many ways. It was not only based on dialogue decisions, since you also had the things that were on the map and its different points of entry that allowed you to get into buildings, as well as elements that opened different paths in history. In short, both Vampire Bloodlines and Deus Ex are my two biggest inspirations.

At least they have good taste in games to be inspired by. Question is how much of it will be compromised by modern AAA trends.

Don't fall for cheap PR

They want a broad target audience so they are sucking up to old-school RPG fans with this BS. If they were inspired by Bloodlines you wouldn't have two dialogue options

Question is how much of it will be compromised by modern AAA trends.

How much of [a modern AAA game] will be compromised by modern AAA trends?

Everything? Clearly the focus in on graphics and voice-acting. This game is an interactive movie with RPG elements
