I hope he'll ask about languages and the aspect of not understanding certain characters without the language implant.

Not happening. I too was hoping they'd do something original for once but it's just gonna be DXHR - CDPR edition with your 3 generic class archetypes.

Well, they didn't show gameplay. I don't know what that means. Maybe that they aren't that far into development at all? He kept stressing that it's an RPG, I also don't know what that means.

I'd be fine with it being like Human Revolution, at least you can not shoot in that game. I want it to be more like the original Deus Ex, but I know that won't happen.

They're not gonna show gameplay during these smaller interviews. If we see anything it'll be at the coliseum in ~5 hours.

Dorito Pope gets his exclusives.

About the blue sky:
In the Cyberpunk 2020 setting, Night city (and most of the world) stopped to use fossil fuel and switched to a "clean" fuel, so most probably after 57 years the sky cleared a little.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
Cyberpunk Info from GameSpot Stream:
  • Game is FPS perspective
  • FPS perspective made to feel more personal
  • RPG with Shooter Elements not a Shooter with RPG elements
  • Multiple different progression systems (Skills, Perks, etc.)
  • V, protagonist - urban merc/hired gun.
  • Full character creation system (Gender, Looks, Lifepath/Backstory)
  • You DO NOT pick classes in the beginning, class system is fluid based on choices
  • Dystopian Cyberpunk future shown in sunlight on purpose. Full Day/Night Cycle. Noir themes bleed through environment and aesthetic
  • Characters from Cyberpunk 2020 lore will appear
  • Netrunner Techie and Solo are main focused classes
  • You can combine classes
  • Optional classes exist (like Rockerboy and Corporate) and you can pull perks from them to add into your own custom class
  • Story and quest system from Witcher 3 is implemented into Cyberpunk similarly.
  • Choice and consequence is HUGE. Emphasized that the game is an RPG first and foremost
  • Story is personalized by player choice.
  • Combat - Ranged combat and Melee combat. Learned lessons from Witcher 3. FPS Melee combat.
  • Weapons - 3 branches - Power Weapons (heavy hitting/stagger), Tech Weapons (penetrating through cover), Smart Weapons (tracking/following)
  • Vehicles - Motorcycles, Cars, hinted at flying cars.
  • V is a fully voiced character. Both Male and Female completely voiced.
  • V's personality is shaped by player. Backstory and interactions shape V's personality.
  • Cyberpunk is a dark dystopia in the same vein as Witcher 3 being Dark Fantasy
  • Details of the world - everything has a purpose. World design was a huge focus in setting the tone.
  • Night City - in between SF and LA (fictional city). Inspired by both cities.
  • 6 unique districts in the city. Each area has its own feel on top of the base Noir feel
  • Exploration is encouraged.
  • Witcher was horizontally huge, Cyberpunk is vertically huge.
  • You can enter buildings, Mega Buildings exist as well with multiple floors and multiple areas to explore within a single building.
  • No level scaling. 2 forms of XP - Core XP - Main Missions and Street Cred - Side missions
  • Higher Street Cred opens new exclusive vendors and fixers (new jobs)

The "class" system sounds like Witcher's awful talent trees tbh.

EDIT: Ah, so they will include Rockerboy and Corporate to some extent.

He keeps saying "it's a roleplaying game" like he's apologizing.
Yeah, in a way sounded a lot like damage control the interview, especially with the "oh, it'll totally be noir like Blade Runner too" bit and like you said the repeated "it's an RPG, trust me" bits. I guess we'll see.

Definetly understand the restrictions on class tho, even with no prior experience on CP 2020 p&p. With a set story like in a video game some classes are just gonna feel weird if allowed, and it's not like they're gonna make completely different stories for classes like corporate. Still the no choice of class at start of game in lieu of "more fluid character progression", or however he worded it, sounds both boring and decline.

I picked up on two kinds of meaning from that. Like he's both apologizing to people that it's an RPG, so the shooter elements won't be front and center, and that "it's an RPG, trust me" shady kind of "not really an RPG".

The butthurt for it being first person only is epic on official forums.

I don't think the game will stay that way

Either Kyle is overly nervous (which is understandable) or CDPR now fears the possible backlash due to questionable design choices making the PnP quitting on CP2077.
They better bring traditional skills back instead of this awful TW3 point buy system.

hah called it that it will be FPS.

- V's personality is shaped by player. Backstory and interactions shape V's personality.

I think it is the first time when RPG will shape player character by C&C and backstory.
So probably deep into game we won't see attitude change every two sentences.

Nah i don't think anyone expected anything FPS or TPS.

One would think they could at least do SS2 style classes, where skills are technically freely open but you are loosely guided by starting class.
The PnP itself bring such thing on a silver platter. The classes only different in one not-so-special-90%-of-the-time exclusive skill.

First-person RPG sounds good, even though I suspect it will end up being another FPS with tacked-on RPG elements à la Fallout 4.

Has there been a tentative release date mentioned?

Nah, but if the schedule is the same as Witcher 3, we won't see gameplay for a few more months and are probably looking at a mid-2020 release date.

I think bigger news is that world is unscaled. Looks like they saw some mods for witcher and it made them think.

edit:

Also did people forget TW3 had floating damage numbers ?
Also knowing CDPR they will give you ample amount of ui customization like in TW3 where you could switch it off.

I like the inclusion of main quest XP and side quest XP with splits. Lack of level-scaling is also incline.

? Why you say this?

Yeah but it's probably gonna be some boring +5 to speech skill!!! shit. And the perks should be mutually exclusive. I don't want masters of all trades to be possible.

I want my corp V to defeat the bad guy by bringing his stocks to a crawl and take over his company.
I want my cop V to purge the filth from the streets of Night City and bring the bad evil dude to justice.
I don't just want a +5% damage to guns and +5% chance on dialogue checks.

I think it's moreso to prevent overleveling on side quests and trivializing the main content, but I think that could happen too.

I wonder if the game will allow respec.

Because all that "class will be determined by the choices" will come to shit

I also felt there was a bit of damage control from CDP's guy there. He had to repeatedly emphasize that their game is still an "RPG" and still "very noir".

If these aspects really are key then their latest trailer failed to convey them properly, confusing enough viewers to make the developers feel the need to explicitly clarify. This is pretty much the opposite of what a trailer should do.

Until more facts are available we're left with a question- was the trailer just unsuccessful in representing what the game is and how it's supposed to feel, or is it the game that's different than what they say it is?
