Honestly, am kinda curious about the game, but the meltdown that'll happen if it gets delayed again would be hilarious, so am not sure which am hoping for.

First person perspective is really chaffing my balls on this one for some reason. It just doesn't fit for this game and seems jarring to me. Here is hoping CDPR let's some modders do their thing and switch it to 3rd person.

Some first hand impressions from IGN and Gamespot (not spoiling much if anything):

Not going to watch this, but is this girl really wearing headphones over two layers of her hat?

Sound waves can travel though hat pretty well. The sound doesn't really change at all, unless you listen to music on relatively high end headphones (probably).

Quality never enters the equation , high freq will be severely attenuated, and impossible to create seal so low end will be sawed off (no excursion nor seal) , result is telephone sound (no extension either end).

Just watched some gameplay and it looks really meh,too much cinematics and sparkly shit. It looks like one of those games where the boss always wanted to make kwan films but settled for games. The game looks too much americanazied and it lacks what made the witcher interesting. It looks really....mediocre and generic with a lot of shinies.

How come?

Because you are a Street Samurai presumably. This means your body will become more & more cybernetic or "chromed out" in the parlance of the tabletop game. You will never see this however because you cannot see your character. All the cool body mods, armor, etc. shall never appear to you. It is goofy in an RPG. Didn't like it in Skyrim for the same reason. Dragon Age, Witcher, Mass Effect, etc. went the right way where you can see character progression.

Yosharian It's about the review score crap that came up due to TLOU2 straight 10s with no meaningful criticism crap.
She did the lamest "no the reviews are totally honest opinions, no financial incentives or anything of the sort honest" thing... And then promptly got a gig as a writer for Sony (publisher of TLOU2) with no prior experience in that regard.

There's been enough evidence of various incentives (including money sometimes, but more access, personal friendships, ideology) influencing reviews... There was the Gerstman debacle... Etc. Her making such obviously false points while not addressing any of the actual points made about the lack of meaningful criticism of such titles would have been bad enough on its own even without her obviously getting rewarded for it by Sony.

I wouldn't trust a journalist who was literally added to the game she is previewing/reviewing.
And frankly CDPR should've known better. That kind of pandering is pathetic and its not even necessary.

Yeah, that too. Obvious what's going on and not her first rodeo.

Of course, however did she p/review the game though? In the linked video she rather moderates the discussion with the two guys. Also - gasp - she flat out says that she disliked some things.

It has already been said that it clashes with the character creation and buying clothes and all that but asshurt hypefags are in denial about it.

This. While Analah is undoubtedly leagues ahead of the average journo drone in terms of intelligence and vocabulary, all authority she had went down the toilet for me when she said a junior writer position is what she "has been working towards for the last five years". What does this tell us about her integrity as a reviewer in those five years (at least)?

The big problem with "games journalism" is they work on meager salaries, with the outlet's budget usually dependent on AAA companies' PR/marketing campaigns. For a media outlet to be truly independent and objective, it has to be funded by its readers. In the case of games, even if funded by readers, journalists would still be prone to compromise on their integrity when it comes to catering to segments of their audience - some game may be shit, but you can't openly say it because it will lead to shitposts and loss of subscriptions, etc.

reading reviews lol i've never read a review in my life
just ask if it's good then make a decision based on yes/no buttons

To be fair there were times in the pre-internet age when buying a video game mag and reading the reviews/previews/other articles was pretty much the only way to get informed about what was happening. The quality of those mags was also on completely different level back then and the "journalists" working for them were actual gaming enthusiasts who genuinely cared about the subject matter, as opposed to the current year retards with MAs in English who wish they were writing about trannies for the Slate instead of the whole vidya stuff.

Of course the contemporary gaming media are pure cancer though, no doubt about that.
