Alright, I agree.

Strong Lionheart vibes.

I've got all the missions in the first town but in each unlocked location it's just trolls, ogres, acid and lava pits and spiders. I'm burning through health potions like there's no tomorrow and enemies are enormously hard to kill.

I'm playing a priest, any advice?

rather, let me rephrase: my followers are burning through potions like there's no tomorrow, my priest is useless as I've used up all my symbols/seals, and cash is really tight. How the fuck do I navigate combat?

I'm working on the first big case, I've visited the execution spot and the dragon rock area, but i keep getting swamped with enemies and bogged down. Halp Codex.

Some stuff I noticed/did:
INT + CON are very important.
I put some points to STR to get a better armor.
Get Sixth Sense spell as early as possible, it identifies everything (makes identify skill obsolete and saves money).
Levitation is also a very nice spell to have, if you struggle with lava and acid pits.
Shatter spell opens locks.
I've been spamming Bless + Fireblade at my companions, seems to work.
Locust Swarm is also a good spell.
I tried mana regeneration skill and it seemed useless, I'd rather use potions.
I invest skillpoints to Wisdom + Spell schools.

The first location I cleared was the cemetery + cathedral, mostly walking dead there, very easy.
If you're missing shatter spell, you can open/disarm chest from distance by shooting them with a bow/seals (press T to enter the attack mode).
That also applies to gates.
Press F4 to toggle "display item names" on/off.
Collect Devil Roots and bring them to the witch for permanent stat boosts (use save/reload if you want to boost a specific attribute).
Before entering the iron mines, make sure you have 50+ healing potions and a couple magical boxes.

So how does the game compare to Arcanum? Is it the spiritual successor we've all been waiting for after AOD failed to deliver?

To Arcanum? You can't compare it to Arcanum in any way. It's basically a more hardcore Diablo with rpg and inquisition in it. Lots of text, great graphics, great atmosphere, bad walking animations, more boring and annoying comabt than diablo.

So far I like it. The game seems to be huge.

B) What alignment actually does?

According to flabbyjack on gog:

Good schools of magic get more powerful when you are of good alignment, and vice versa for evil magic.

So many Inquisitor threads, so little time :fight: BURN THE WITCHES!

For all you haters of little faith: Paying attention is pretty important, otherwise why the hell are you even playing Inquisitor? Aren't you inquisitive?

To all who wouldst play this game: Play on easy. Buy all the potions you can. You will get stuck at some point, so to talk to everyone about everything and check all the corners of the maps/dungeons. If still stuck then see the gog.com forums for help. You will get your ass beat. You shall RP.

Hey guys,

I'm pretty stumped at this point in the game can I have some help from whoever is that far ahead. I've basically talked to everyone and cleared all dungeons with the exception of killing the ex bishop herberticus (the fucker is practically immortal, i can fight him for half an hour straight with no effect).

And now I have no idea what to do. I do believe I've fucked up 2 of the people u can talk to - the guy on the left of the church and the alchemist. I guess i didnt save before the church guy and gave the wrong options cuz no he doesn't talk to me and hasn't told me anything. As for the alchemist he talked with me but i feel I've missed on something when i dint take his quest.

So to bottom line this i've got 3 questions:
- how the hell do i beat the undead bishop
- how do I continue with the plot to find the baroness ( she seems the key but i've looked everywhere for her)
- is there a point to releasing the sprits in the execution grounds?

Once you attack him you can bravely run away and ask the herbalist woman what to do with the fucker.

I think you can just destroy it heart, even if you don't know about it. When you fight him try mousing all over the crypt he is in - there should be a gravestone that causes the pointer to change its icon. Find what's inside - then destroy it. Typical liche stuff.

- how do I continue with the plot to find the baroness ( she seems the key but i've looked everywhere for her)

Go to the iron mines.

- is there a point to releasing the sprits in the execution grounds?

AFAIK, no.

And do not worry much if you antagonise someone. If you have enough points in Eloquence/Authority/Other skill you can ask them for forgiveness - even if they do not accept it just keep clicking the same answer over and over - eventually they should succumb to your persuasion.

I've cleared the Iron mines. The one play I couldnt get to is on the bottom level where a bridge collapses. No idea how to pass that either. I though about a levitation spell and I'm working towards it but i'm pretty high level already and it takes quite a while to level up :)

I really don't get how this metter works. I swear I was nice in dialogues and didn't kill anyone and my score could still drop to the other side. Sure, I took a few "evil" quests but this was more to learn more what's going on e.g. I didn't kill that Ollimer fellow as the guy whose daughter he allegedly murdered requested.

Accepting his quest without the intention of actually doing it? That's lying and a sin!

You must be Righteus not nice it is Medieval Europe not Hippie Land of Unicorns and other furrfaggotery.... You can complete this quest in not evil way by rescuing His Daughter.

Played on easy caused my Henchmen to have half the health they were on Medium? is this Bug or intentional?

I know that, your grace - still, I am all confuse. I do threaten people when it makes sense - the convicts, beggars, the corrupt officials and all, but I am more lenient when questioning nobles (makes, sense huh?). It seems to me you have to be either jackass all the way or holy nice-guy, regardless of the context - Mass Effect style - to reap any benefits.

And yeah, I completed that quest in the way you described. And I don't get what's causing my reputation to drop, other than being nice guy/being bad guy.

I guess it's intentional, but on the flipside they do consume much less potions on lower difficulty levels... And still die like flies when faced with ghosts, spirits and phantoms. Jesus, how I hate when the game keeps trolling me with them.

alright, so I took Marsal and Mrowak 's advice.

I restarted and built my character so he isn't quite so gimped. I managed to kill Herbetius with ALOT of quicksave quick load jiggeryphooey (so i wouldn't be isnta killed when he went hostile). I'm playing on medium and it's a slog, but I've solved some quests (Lotti & the executioner), Herbetius & the relic, etc.

I'm starting to actually enjoy the game now that it isn't a total dick fest. I'll probably head toward the Iron Mines next not into them yet though.

Respawns aren't as bad as people make out. Maybe 1-2 monsters respawn, not the entire coterie you've previously faced.

Spirits are dicks who insta kill my party.

I'm not looking forward to combat heavy slugfests in the mines, but hopefully I'll have raise dead by then.

Ps. I made Inquis prosecutor, that was sweet.

Marsal was right about pagan magic, I've got 8 pagan, 6 in each divine, miracles and faith, pumped points into intelligence almost exclusively and it made my priest alot less shit.

Thanks. I have only the dog so far and couldn't find a way to dismiss him. Are followers really needed or is it better to solo diablostyle when they die like flies anyway?

Depends on your class, but I would think that even as a Paladin it still helps having followers around as they can help to soften up your enemies. Don't forget that you can give them rudimentary commands such as Help me Kill this (X on your keyboard IIRC), Attack with A, Lower your weapons (F IIRC).

Don't forget that you can resurrect them if you have the skill required to do so.

I find them very useful, even though I'm a paladin. They are a lot better at tanking despite my stats being higher, so I just focus on DMG dealing.

Also, wait, what's this about shopping and not having to drag and drop? Explain!

There are icons bellow the shopping window. Click on the "Buy" icon - it should become highlighted. Now you can buy stuff with one click. Similarly, you sell the stuff with "Sell" icon.

I haven't even properly played this game yet and even I RTFM? (ok, towards the end I thought I could take no more but in it's defence even if it had been well-written I usually can't stand fantasy expository BS that isn't learnt through the game story)

From what I've seen the further on you get the more needed they are. Enemies start to throw magic around, lots of magic, and after that you start encountering guys who can cause status effects like paralysis with every hit. So you could get gear to allow you to solo mobs like that, but otherwise you'd be pretty screwed without a meatshield.

What am I supposed to do with troll biles?
They seem to be quest items, did I miss something?

I dont think its anything in this town maybe later. I'm keeping them too. I'm still battling with how do I cross the destroyed bridge on the bottom level of the Iron Mines.

I also think it's a failing of modern game design to create a game whose simpler elements, like user interface (which are supposed to be immediately intuitive) are unnecessarily cumbersome. This is a game which features a pause option yet puts it on one of the hardest keys to reach, despite it being (arguably) integral for gameplay, and does not let you set your own keybinds. Those are serious issues and "RTFM" does not fix that.

I got stuck here too, for hours in fact. It really is annoying and rather dastardly.
You have to use a hidden door in the cave wall - check the northeast cave area. Even if you are looking for it it can be hard to find.

why
Its a game with simple AI, you can exploit that to make encounters way easier.

Run away from encounters that spawn a bunch of shit on top of you, then come back and pull them one by one. Circle around making nukers run out of mana/stamina, etc.
