The game has some meta C&C. If you ever need to work for nobles or royalty but they laugh at you in your face and tell you to get lost, know that it's because you did something for someone who's not in the best mood with that nobilitiy faction, individual noble or royal. Likewise with merchants, taverners etc. Depending on how you play, you might be surprised to find that taverners in some places won't charge you at all.

Also, some guilds have conflicting interests so you can be kicked out from one guild for joining another one, you can be demoted if you turn down or fail too many quests (isn't it nice that you can fail or turn down quests at all and not get stuck in the game?), and if you fail too many quests when you're a low rank in a guild (first 2 or 3 ranks), they can kick you out. Or if your reputation drops below socially acceptable levels, some guilds will either kick you out, or tell you not to come back until you work on your reputation.

Also some side quests has different outcomes depending on your actions, but very few. Most DF C&C are of the kind denizsi wrote about. Main story has little C&C if any at all.
Still due to randomness you may sometimes find youself in interesting situations even in straightforward "kill" or "fetch" quests.

Free download of DF is the best thing Bethesda has done in last 5 years.

I don't know about C&C man, looks pretty squiggly and complicated to me:

I heard Daggerfall has choices/consequences, does it?
I also wonder.
Plenty of it, to suit your heart's content.

One piece of clue followed down, one person's quest taken, and it all cascades down to so many plotlines.

Fascinating little game, really. I got a little bored with it at level 7 around Direnni Tower and infiltrating castle Sentinel.

Too easy to become all powerful in this game. A pity since the game offers a nice dose of challenge when it starts out.

Sounds nice. Maybe I'll have to check it out.

I was browsing the threads regarding daggerfall and one of them said they couldn't stand the "graphics and sounds." Oh, here's the link.

http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index ... p=14649812

No wonder. It's pretty obvious that most newer players will be repulsed by graphics and other issues. And most of those who can stand graphics won't stand the gameplay :) The game had been released in past millenium after all and had all the flaws developers could stuff in it. It also had a lot of virtues now gone for good.

Speaking of graphix... I don't remember being impressed by it either, and I played some 3 or 4 years after release. But art was fascinating. Winter cemetary at sunny evening... And while sound is so-so (skeleton warcries aside) midi music was fantastic.

Standard jrpg shit, from watching the video on the website. Morrowind's was much, much better and seemed to better fit the setting.

Morrowind did advance the setting, yes.
That's the only thing you get right.

Graphics is unimpressive (partially due to such lousy shit like backdrop scrolling at different pace than you're turning around), but gameplay? Aside from unwieldy spellcasting and archery, the controls can be set up exactly as in Morrowind or some modern FPS, so the movement isn't hindered. Sure, the gameworld is somewhat homogenous and AI is virtually non-existent, but some aspects, even purely technical ones, are still impressive - for example, DF's weather system, with changing textures and season transitions rapes the one in Oblivion sideways.

Also, music is better in DF. I am not allergic to Soule, but his music is not so hot for prolonged gameplay.

Soule's music, though beautiful, is too grandiloquent and becomes very boring after a while. Heberling's music, very immersive, was also climate, time and location specific. This made Daggerfall music far superior to Morrowind's or Oblivion's.

Fuck you all, Daggerfall has the best graphics ever :sniff:
I need to post a good screenshot of an underwater merman monster to show these manboons how good Daggerfall's graphics are.

The detailed sprites in the game are amazing, especially those of shady rogues, and combined into a 3D environment with good lighting, the effect can be quite good.

It carries both the nice merits of 2D and 3D in gaming.
