Metacritic's proprietary Metascore distills the opinions of the most respected critics writing online and in print to a single number.

List of Metascore's most respected critics writing online

We are always on the lookout for new sources of quality, well-written reviews that are well regarded in the industry or among their peers. Several times throughout the year, we will re-evaulate our current group of publications and make additions and deletions to our panel if necessary. If you feel that your publication deserves inclusion among this elite group, please let us know. Remember, we are only looking for high-quality websites (or print publications).

Take for example Cheat Code Central. Jebus Christmas. That's some fine fucking quality Professional Journalism™ all right.

We should massively incline MCA's score over there and keep it at a near 100 if possible.

How could you do that? You're not a puhfursional, your opinion doesn't count.

Well... we hacked Metacritic before in our smearing campaign against DA2, didn't we?

Nah, it wouldn't. Because NWN was a 91.. so, DA2's 79 wouldn't make much of a different since it would be an 85 average which is absically the same. once again, the best game ever comes to the rescue!!!!

Anyone know how to scrape the metacritic databases so that we could do a list of the top 10 studios given the most blowjobs based on the discrepancy between scores from reviewers and user reviews?

IIRC, metacritic was using user scores.

* Tim Cain - 75
* Julian Gollop - 76
* Chris Avellone - 81
* David Gaider - 85
* Todd Howard - 89
* Jeff Vogel - ???

they have it in order since lower score is better, right?

... right?

As others have said, that can safely be discounted as it is missing the most important games from pretty much every developer on there. No Fallout for Tim Cain, no Fallout 2 for Chris Avellone etc.

Metacritic is good for game review aggregates, but it can't be used for developers as long as the database is hopelessly inadequate.

I didn't think Metacritic could find a way to outdo itself with its retardation.

Guess I was wrong.

What i'm finding weird about all this (besides obvious) is that its helping promote some sort of cult of celebrity/worship amongst uber-nerd game devs?

They're not fucken rock stars!

:hmmm:

Anything that moves the games industry closer towards the movie industry is a good thing because movies get so much more respect in the broader cultural context. The lead developer of Madden 2015 must be seen has having exactly the same sort of creative genius as Stanley Kubrick in order for the medium to move forward as an artform.

CCC has actually one or two pretty good guys working for them. For a site aimed at the "typical" gamer its a whole lot better as comparable mainstream sites.

Somebody should make an RPG dev fighting game in MUGEN.
