Lived to learn: never leave stuff in backpacks when you put them into tents. I did. They didn't survive the server reset. I'm just glad that the backpacks themselves didn't disappear.

Ok, deerstand jumping for emergencies only.

Went to raid northeast airport, pitchdark before moon came up. actualy bumped into another guy running in forrest but no shots exchanged. Found some fresh dmr ammo then went to northeast small barn in the woods, only to find someone had a campfire in there. Stalked around, and just when I had a good view of the door the fire went out/was put out. No disconnect messages and no one came out of that barn. waited for some time before getting the hell out of there.

Small things, but when that light went out just as I had the scope on that door my heart nearly skipped a beat and I actualy felt a shiver going down my spine, thats been a while.

Should a server restart while you are in the vehicle, usually you and the vehicle will be reset to where you got on. But I was once teleported west of Pavlovo 13km away and took 2 hours to get back to the vehicle.

ATV flips over easily, you can try it out in the armory, I flip the ATV a couple of times on small bumps. Sometimes a server restart moves a vehicle a few meters so you can try waiting for a restart to salvage an ATV.

I stole my first pickup last night. In good shape and full of goodies and extras for repair, left just like that in an open field. I took it to one of the remote towns and parked it between bushes and trees, hard to see from a distance. Killed another survivor with ALICE in the town and then the lights went out on me while I was in a building. Shitfuckingcock, I'm sure somebody else got the pickup now.

Pending Update 1.7.1 Details
Rough outline of what to expect in the pending update.
I will update this as more stuff is put in. Changelog will then follow it.
Performance and Optimization
- Reduction/elimination of the new server lag. This is caused by the ArmA2 server expecting immediate response from the central server. Vehicles are the main cause of this, as whenever they are damaged everything stops while the server ensures this is recorded in the database.
- Bugs fixed that were possibly causing very significant netcode overhead (will need mass-scale testing to verify this).
Infected Behavior
- Infected can no longer see/attack through walls.
- Entirely new mocap'd attack and running animations
Content
- Additional Idle Infected sounds
- Revised Attack sounds
- Many new action sounds, including IV, bandaging etc...
Notes
- This update will REQUIRE the beta patch, so it is worth installing this now and getting used to it.
- Read up at the BI Forums about the beta patch install. It's pretty easy.

Sheeet, in a server full of 40 people in daylight, nobody seems to have found my pickup and none of the stuff in it is missing either. I took it to a safe spot and nobody even shot at me on my way (though I went off-road in the woods. There are traps and ambushes at roads). It's a bitch to drive between trees, though.

Well at least they won't attack through walls and have X-Ray though any longer.

But increasing their attack range is retarded. They can already hit you from like 1.5 meters away.

Other reported hacks include killing everyone on a server, launching everyone 300 meters in the air. spawning of tanks, planes etc. Dayz forum has lots of complains on server kills.
Disabling global chat makes getting information harder.

Btw, I'm begining to think that DayZ is an MMO done right, with the whole permadeath, high realism, open world concept.
Some ideas come to my mind with other games in combination with that concept. For example, imagine Mount and Blade set in an open world as a single player (no tactical map/parties), with perma death, item spawn points and even a skill system. No zombies are even necessary. It would still be fun to play because the perma death aspect brings so much more intensity to the gameplay.
If future MMO's start going in this direction, that would be a fucking :incline: to me.

Every so often, a game or a mod like this comes out that makes me lament the fact that I can't participate due to a high latency connection; Then I read something like this and realize that I'm probably better off without it. Not only do you have to put up with fourteen year old's screaming one liners at you, but there's the cheating, hacking, account stealing and everything else that goes along with it.

I can kinda see it from both sides too though. There was a map in NOLF multiplayer that had a particular exploit where you could fall through the map and land on the level's outer box, from there you could see everyone on the map above you and kiill them at your leisure, lol-ing at them saying "Where the fuck ARE you?". Myself and another dude did this a couple of times, it was fucking hilarious. Of course, we were all friends and were basically just trolling each other in good fun, but If I had been globally banned for it It would have been a PLANE TICKETS BITCH moment. I do feel kinda smug when I install a game and refuse to install whatever bullshit anti-cheat software they use, as I can't use it anyway.

As to the OP:

I checked out the SP conversion and have watched some of you guy's videos. The SP gives you an idea, but is not that much fun for very long. It actually inspired me to try and put together my own Zombie Sandbox for SP. I've been working on it off and on for a couple of weeks and have made some pretty good progress.

It's currently playable and has dynamically spawning AI to simulate bandits/other players. I'ts currently using Charon's Undead Mod for Zombie's, but I'm toying with the idea of attempting my own Zombies as Charon's Mod is a pretty hefty download and still has some bugs that were never fixed. I'm not using anything from DayZ, though I did look at how they did things to get an idea of how to go about it. I'm working on Chernarus, but I'm thinking about changing to another map that's less heavy system wise.

Would there be any interest from the esteemed gentleman and trannies of the Codex for something like this?

Spent an hour trying to place a tent in 1.71. no luck. I really want to make a base camp and scavenge from there but this placement shit is getting pretty annoying. losing zombies through line of sight works great though. just running through towns grab loot and lose them around corners. Z aggro range is ridiculous though, and no need to crouch run in towns because it makes no difference from standing up if the visibility meter is anything to go by.

The latest version is unplayable for me. Zombies see you from very far away, they can hear Makarov shots from hundreds of meters away, they can hit me from the other side of the room, they walk through doors and sometimes walls. Seems to me like the author is tweaking the game in such ways that it changes the experience drastically every time I play (which is every two or three days, enough for a new version to come out every time).
