Lived to learn: never leave stuff in backpacks when you put them into tents. I did. They didn't survive the server reset. I'm just glad that the backpacks themselves didn't disappear.

Btw, I'm begining to think that DayZ is an MMO done right, with the whole permadeath, high realism, open world concept.
Some ideas come to my mind with other games in combination with that concept. For example, imagine Mount and Blade set in an open world as a single player (no tactical map/parties), with perma death, item spawn points and even a skill system. No zombies are even necessary. It would still be fun to play because the perma death aspect brings so much more intensity to the gameplay.
If future MMO's start going in this direction, that would be a fucking to me.
