I was getting down to the wire on getting my daughter the second Zombrex dose so I said fuck it and restarted. That, and I got two survivors killed by Antoine.

Have yet to find a game that lasts the entire time online. I either can't find games, or the ones I find last 3 rounds and then the host drops. God damn sucky GFWL. Sorta fun apart from that. Interested to see how much money you win from multiplayer, too.

And it's a pink dildo Blobert, I haven't found a black one yet. I don't think you can make a combo weapon with the dildo either which is disappointing, but now that I think about it I'm not 100% sure it isn't a combo item.

Dead Rising 1 was amazingly hardcore for a megabudget console game, almost all the content besides the maps, models and some of the animations is for people that are gonna pay attention and play through it 1-2 times or more.

It even has signature nerd design traits, for example overambitiously designed escort quests with semi-sufficient survivor AI/pathing because it's thematic so shut up and deal with it. Very '90s, I was surprised it survived the current process.

DR2 seems EVER SO SLIGHTLY less harxx0re now because of better controls (Both lol pc master race and just overall better controls) and the survivors aren't completely braindead now. But that was "Bad" difficulty before, so I don't particularly miss it. Looks like events are still clumped together enough to make them still kinda tricky to do all of them in one go, even if it's easier to grab survivors and drag them around to other events this time.

Money becomes a non-issue when you get the three gambling magazines. Good thing too, since some stuff requires you to pony up millions, and grinding that without the big paying slots would've been way too close to jrpg popamole to my liking.

And yeah sadly dildo isn't a combo weapon; a missed opportunity really. What with all the dildo drills and what not available online - the attack move would've been a sight to see. :smug:

Even though DR1 gave you points for zombierotica getting upskirt zombie pictures I don't recall there being as many (Or any) big titted zombies wandering around, whereas they seem all over the goddamn place in DR2.

Also struck me, I think this is the only game I bought brand new with no kind of deal on release this year. Just looked at my order history on Steam and BY GOD IT IS. Only other game would be Delve Deeper at $5, and that had a 10% discount on launch on Steam.

I considered outright buying it given the relatively low initial price but, as always, I figured I could give it a few months. The big holiday sale is only about three months away. But it's good to know it's a fairly solid game.

Obviously you're not old enough to visit Las Vegas.

Do you need to carry the magazines with you or you just read them once and get the skills or powers?

yeah 3 gambling magazines and play in the big jackpot and you will get zillions in no time... haven't had the chance myself as I barely get time to get specific weapons to combine...
Also theres a group that will only go with you to the bunker if you win at poker and you need at least 200.000 to begin

Great game so far. Loved the first one, second one may be slightly better. I'm only about 24 "hours" in so far though.
This. If nothing else, getting PP from custom weapons is so much better than taking stupid pictures, and the multiplayer is a nice addition. Oh, and the survivor AI is so much better - it's now quite possible to drag them along for hours at a time if need be, and they seem to hold their own quite well.

You can also make money through the multiplayer, which is a nice touch. It's not the best multiplayer in the world, but a game takes maybe 10 minutes, is fairly entertaining, and nets you around 50k (whether you come in 1st or not). You can then "cash out" your winnings into a save slot of your choice. Very nice.

There's a trainer out with which you can alter the time (or freeze it, but that seems to screw things up) - use it myself to get enough time to save all the survivors.

Rewind a few hours every now and then and you have plenty of time to just mess around; without it you always have the next part of the main case right around the corner. Probably the devs' intention, yeah, but I don't much care for it. Don't want to replay the game five times either just to see all the content.
Seems to me like this would ruin things. Part of the fun and strategy in a Dead Rising game is figuring out what "path" to take to gather as many other survivors as possible before getting back to the safe area.

Aw, Slappy. I liked that psycho because he reminded me of the version of Toyman used in Superman the animated series. He was a bitch to kill though...

Randy was a fun psycho too, and I'd imagine he's inspired by SMA's male form. Fnar fnar.

One of my playthroughs I'm gonna ditch the zombrex/story missions, grab the leadership magazine, and see just how many survivors I can get to join a roving zombie killing gang. Starting with the tiger.

Slappy wasn't that bad, jump kicks and water guns give you a couple free swings. The booby twins were a bitch for me, the first 5 times they chain attacked me and caused much :x but the 6th time the dark hair one ignored me and I blew the blond away with a shotgun. :smug:

And where the hell is there a blender?

God damn I want to love this game, but its suffers sooo fucking much from consolization (whatever that may mean given it was a console game originally).

On the technical side. you can't rebind your keys (and switching between items is fucked up because you can only do relative switching instead of having slots bound to certain keys). You can't run the game windowed. WTF?

For gameplay, the main character controls horribly, which is offset by the fact that the zombies are ridiculously slow and weak (how anyone got caught by these zombies is a question I want answered, I would have a 50/50 chance of beating them if I was a quadriplegic) , which is offset by the fact that your weapons break approximately 10x faster then they did in System Shock 2, which is offset by the fact that within 100 feet of any location there is a maintenence room that constantly respawns the combo weapons so you can just magically make another weapon as soon as one runs out.

For pure shittiness, fucking quicktime events occur. Normally I don't have a problem since it hasn't reached GoW 10 min cinematic of button pressing level, but the fucking inputs change. Sometimes one type of grab will force you to press one button, sometimes you have to swing the mouse, sometimes press another button. Its like its designed specifically to frustrate the player instead of let them get better at the game by learning the system.

Despite this, its pretty decent. Storyline is decent without any ridiculously facepalming moments. Freeroaming survival game with time constraints and multiple paths is pretty much the holy grail of a fun game in my book. Using the random shit lying around is fun every once in a while, even if it is useless compared to normal weapons. If the prior issues were fixed this would be a shining example of a decent console game.

For some people, yeah probably. But I want to do it all in one playthrough, and even though the sense of being rushed into new stuff was probably the devs' intention, I don't really enjoy playing like that. I prefer to go exploring whenever I want without feeling like if I do I miss out on some survivor or something.

I tried to like this game, but I just can't. Bollocks to them for that 3 days bullshit. I could accept that Zombirex timer, but give me a fucking break, I'm not going to start replaying this on and on just to finish a few more missions.

Most of the side missions are just survivor rescuing missions with little "content" besides some dialog. You really shouldn't be so concerned about seeing every last one of them.
