1. You couldn't make the fuck out of the paladins face in D2 ANYWAY, fucking pixels everywhere especiually during combat. The paladin was black in D2, get over it. And now they've made a choice to emphasize that further. UMAD?
2. It doesnt FUCKING matter, because nobody, absolutely nobody watches characters face during actual gameplay, because its fucking small and insignificant.

To be honest I don't really give a shit about the character model changes. There are worse things I don't like such as butchered running animations, etc. The UI is a lot less ornamental and celtic-like and has been D3'd. It's less arty and more brutal. Item graphics have been D3'd as well, they look plastic and with less details.

But one can make an argument that character models are essential in this type of game because they define the style of the character. D2 classes have different HP/mana gain, attack speeds and block rates, the classes are distinct both in combat characteristics and visual appearance. So the women look agile, like actual competent women, meanwhile in Ressurected everyone looks to be on the same steroids.

They're apparently keeping almost everything the same. Audio is remastered, and they're adding some more ambient noises (so a larger variety footstep sounds, more environmental sounds in the jungle). Only other changes I've heard of is shared stash, being able to see games outside your difficulty level in multiplayer (so you don't have to switch characters to see lower tier games), some other multiplayer changes like characters not expiring, and possibly some bug fixes (annoying bugs like invisible fire explosions on some unique monsters going into hit recovery, but not bugs that have been incorporated into playing D2, like bugging Andariel to give the quest bonus forever).

so they found "a tonne" of source materials, 3D renders, textures etc... but darn... guess they couldn't find the files on amazon, paladin etc.

they joyfully used even the original textures with the paintings on the tomb walls but then again, with the amazon's face, they couldn't be bothered to show the same appreciation for detail.

all you do in path of exile is run around while everything explodes around you constantly with 3000 different auras and your entire screen turns white because of all the spell effects at the same time
that's the entire game
