The entire basis for Diablo was that there's an evil red demon and you must beat him.
or skip the demon entirely and kill the evil archbishop (and his pair of expensive exotic escorts) over and over again

to reclaim endless wealth from this corrupted church and keep it for yourself, or make a profit of it on the market (represented by grisworld the fence)

sounds pretty realistic tbh

Not defending always online authenticated DRM bullshit by any means, but by the time Diablo 4 ships, I'd imagine this won't be true with http://starlink.com almost fully deployed.

They're straight up ripping off The Division's dark zone for their PvEvP zone. This sounds great.
https://www.pcgamer.com/diablo-4-pvp-fields-of-hatred/

During their recent earnings call, they said that the CoD (F2P warzone, B2P premium release) model will be applied to most of their franchises and that they want to strengthen the social aspects of every franchise.

The F2P aspect could of course be covered by Immortal, thus leaving DIV a "pure" buy-to-play premium experience, but I don't think that will be the case, at least not without a strong social aspect an "player investment".

The gameplay looks very anime-like. This character seems to be just jumping all around and doing whatever she wants. And there are colored explosions going off everywhere. Trailer was cringe. Reminded me of one of these nu-Disney villain female characters. The game feel and environments looks about the same as D3, big turnoff. Character models look better and more detailed though.

Have to say the D2 trailer looked way better. This game looks like a total disaster.

But we all know what's going on. Also, what is it with specifically redheads changing into Africans?

The media hate red hair. Blonde and Red Hair >>>> Dark Hair. And BTW, I sadly have black hair. I was blonde as a child, but sadly my hair darkened(and I an becoming bald)

iu

She is perfect and a amazing actress. The media should hire her instead of non red hair for red hair characters.

Granted, the sprite in-game looks like this:

Pretty odd. It's not like there aren't already black characters in Diablo. And of course, square jaw, bulky arms, broad shoulders, and manly pectoral-esque breasts. Blech.
Is she really supposed to be black here? I can't tell what the hell is going on with this Innsmouth look she's rockin'.

How the fuck is a game about killing the devil about "religion bad"?

Probably due to the entire thing being kicked off by Archbishop Lazarus taking Prince Albrecht and corrupting the King, causing the downfall of Tristram, resurrecting Diablo, etc. This isn't exactly a massive endorsement of the not-Catholicism of Khanduras.
You realize he was corrupted by diablo, right?

I’m just not feeling Diablo 4 at all. I’ve been underwhelmed with everything they’ve shown so far.

I know the game is early in development but it looks like shit. The trailers showing nothing but low density fights with flashy moves isn’t doing the game any favors.

The mounted stuff continues to look out of place in this game.

The basis of Diablo was war in heavens projected/spilled out to a mortal realm with strong vibes of Judeo-Christian iconography and where the two warring factions sought mortal allies to turn the stalemate.

I'm sure D4 will have many issues, but the ugly character designs Blizz are showing off is probably not a hill worth dying on.

The game seems to have a lot of customisation options for characters after all, so the ugly defaults don't really matter.

Yes, but it's still a strong image. Either way, I was pointing out where the people who see an anti-organized religion theme were probably coming from.

Although there are several instances in the games' lore about religious institutions failing, I'd say this is more about the general darkness of the setting with frail mortals who can't do a whole lot in the face of powerful demons and their corrupting influences. Even the hero of D1 was powerless at the end of the game.

There are heroic characters both from organized religious backgrounds (D1 rogue, D2 paladin) as well as religious characters that turned away from being organized in order to avoid corruption and better fight it (D3 crusader) and even the mage orders of the setting sound fairly religious. All of this portrays religion in a more positive light in the setting.

In terms of aesthetics, the game looks a heck more appealing than D3 while it also avoids to indulge the overdone and tired D2 grittiness stuff. Let the Unter-Action RPG clones keep repeating that shit over and over again.

The Rogue looks seedy and elegant at the same time. No skinny, pasty white ass bitch, but an ethnic and vigorous warrior. That's exciting. I like that Blizzard has moved on. Hopefully the mechanics and story has something to show for, too (less optimistic).

Most of the Diablo characters belong to some kind of religion or are from a spiritual people, and it doesn't paint them all as corrupt, so I can't say that Diablo paints all belief as bad. Necromancers, Paladins, Barbarians and Druids all have their own religions. Even Sorcs seem to be a pseudo-religious order. Apart from the Sorcs occasionally getting possessed by demons due to them flirting with demonic powers, none of them are painted as particularly bad religions. The only religion that was objectively bad was the one Lazarus belonged to, but that religion was founded by Baal, Diablo and Mephisto as a way to con humanity.

Wasn't diablo contained in a bone/blood/flesh wall prison only opened by levers? In fact it took like 4 of them on lvl 16 or w/e. Hell, there were a lot of locked stairways. Yeah, diablo could bust that open I guess. As to why he was enclosed seems uh... odd. Why not just trot into town and kill everyone? Nope! He just sits in his cubby having an orgie with possessed knights and succubi. Ok...

Is this some new lore from the more recent titles? Last I heard Zakarum was slowly corrupted by Mephisto *after* he was entombed under their temple-city.

He only managed to complete his possession of Albrecht's body mere hours before facing off with the main character.
