Disciples 2 still holds up well, some of the maps are great, campaign is fun and the system of unit levelling/transformation is straight up unbeatable. One of the most entertaining RPG systems I've ever seen.

Disciples 3 Reincarnation (remake of the original D3) is also a worthy entry in the genre.

Legends of Eisenwald is a Disciples spiritual offspring and a very good game in it's own right, altho the setting is historical instead of fantasy (hands down best map design in the genre tho).
