Should've been nominated to GOTY instead of TOW

well, it is GOTY de facto.
that honor goes to pathologic 2, thank you very much
I don't think he gives too much of a fuck either about its politics as well, but seeing shout-outs to Marx & Engels must hurt a little bit of his soul. It does hurt mine a bit, frankly, but I don't doubt the awards themselves are well-deserved.
i have no idea who in the name of fuck margus is but they got chapo (and i think some other dirtbag leftist™ podcast?) to do voice acting, i havent even played the fucking game and i know it has a literal political alignment system, im sure theres a fuckton of ironic postmodern-y dialogue jokingly praising communism.. im going to assume that either he just doesnt give a shit about their motives/views/ideologies or that at some point he was fucking lobotomized
Have you ever heard of irony, my friend?
we've been living in a postmodernist cyberpunk hellscape where every single piece of media is smothered in irony for at least the last few decades, sincerity isnt exactly in vogue

Dybowski is a genius, but Pathologic 2 is not something new. It is a remake of 2005 game for some weird reason promoted as its sequel.

Disco is new, and it is the fresh air your fucking RPGs need so much.

I wonder why Kurvitz didn't go. Too cool for awards shows?

His father is twice more cooler

Everytime I'm about to buy this goddamn game they have to go and say something retarded like "shout out to great people like Marx and Engels". I really admire the idea and concept of the game but rewarding naive, braindead useful idiots with my money isn't my favourite pasttime.

Have you ever heard of irony, my friend?

So they gave a shout out to Marx and Engels out of irony. Right.

There's really no irony here. They ARE hardcore socialists, self-proclaimed.

It's just that they made a really good game.

I am happy Disco Hipsterium won and that they get exposure and deserved sales and all that but man .. at the same time I have such an aversion against this mainstream video game media crap. The whole thing is just throughly corrupt and incestous, I mean, just seeing the Dorrito Pope still there even though in a fair world his repuation should be down the fucking drain just makes me wanna quit this sorry life and wish myself away to a lonely island. But instead I live in a society.

Suspected so. Rian Johnson's retarded brother in the red shirt certainly doesn't look like a high-T Reaganite.

Well, yes. Also this.

ZA/UM is a cultural movement uniting artists, writers, entrepreneurs and socialists, established 2009. Named after the Russian futurists' language of gods and birds it does popular and avant-garde. Creates and markets. In 2014 ZA/UM started Nihilist.fm - an online publishing platform. In print media, ZA/UM has published four national bestsellers.

As a game studio ZA/UM has been active for almost 3 years. What started out as a small idea between friends is now a studio 20 strong and ever growing in scale. We are currently developing an isometric role playing game called No Truce With The Furies, which is also our first behemoth of a game.

We are looking for people who would share the same dubious amounts of curiosity as we do, who have a knack for the uncanny and uncommon, who have un-standardized visions of gameplay and aren’t afraid to explore new ideas. Bring wicked ideas and killer talent!

You should not.
The game is garbage anyway you look at it except the writing. At least the parts where it doesn't shove propaganda down your throat.

All these claims of original gameplay are simply bullshit. There's nothing original in the gameplay. It's a visual novel, or if you want to be generous it's an RPG without combat. Which I suppose you could call original in the same way that you can call a Coke bottle without Coke in it original.
I really don't see why taking out combat would suddenly make it better than if it had combat. Because that's what the retarded fanboy commies keep blabbing about: durr no combat so original looooooool this gaem show u can have rpgs with no combat

If anything, this game shows that you can't take combat out of RPGs. Because all it has is a dialogue skill copy/pasted 20 times. Hurr muh rpg.

This but also fuck...what a stupefying fireworks of mainstream taste, jesus christ on a fucking bike. The only game trailer I was even marginally interested in was Ghost of Tsushima, everything else was one big garish, infantile blob of akshun and awsum and multiplayer and animu and Nintendo retarded garbage that made me wanna puke.

no p2 isnt a fresh fucking brand new game in the same way that disco is, but for the masses it may as well be. the original 2005 version's received a ton of exposure recently and even then the vast majority of people arent willing to pour 70 goddamn hours into all three of the routes. it was also the very first game that most of the core ipl staff worked on so naturally it's janky and half-baked in several key areas. i will admit that tinybuild's marketing was pretty fucking godawful (altho i doubt patho2 wouldve been released in 2019 without their help) and to this day i still think shoving a big fat 2 into the title was a mistake, but it covers a lot of narrative and mechanical ground that the original game didnt... im willing to consider it "new" in a lot of ways

i will freely admit that i havent played disco yet but from a glance it looks like a combatless planescape torment with loads of politics and wacky crazy stats you have personal conversations with. i can understand why a codex grognard would call it a vn in the same way that they'd potentially call pathologic a walking sim (which... it isnt)

plus, dybowski's somehow kept ice-pick alive for almost two decades with poker money and russian magic. the man (along with everyone else from ice-pick) is a goddamn legend. he's just fun to root for

I rooted for him by buying the game and the merch. But GOTY is still Disco, sorry.

And then publicly thanking two long dead men for "political education".
Yeah, I guess "thanks" to Marx and Engels for participating in creating of ideology that destroyed half of the world and almost burned other half with nukes.
I mean, commies is much worse than nazis, just for a fact that nazis was persecuted for their crimes and commies managed to get away with genocide and deportation with aura of "good guys".
That it, no more support for ZA/UM, for using trust and support of people to get on stage and promote ideology that caused almost all problems in my country by crushing mentality of people into fucking mess.
And no more support for TGA, because if someone said "Hitler did nothing wrong" he/she would be lynched and award taken away, meanwhile commies get away "cuz good guys and shit" meanwhile in any communist regime such show isn't possible and TGA owners will be prosecuted.
I am all for freedom of speech, but communists (just like islamists) proven their hatred to any opinion that don't fit their paradigm and abuse state power to get rid of criticism. So I don't see a reason why they should be treated any better than "dissidents" of their regimes in countless prisons and death camps.

Yeah I'm gonna pass on this game for now, maybe I'll check it out when it's like 5 bucks on GOG or free on Epic.

It's a) combat-free, b) isometric and I'm also starting to have doubts even about the alleged deep, meaningful writing. People have all sorts of views of what constitutes deep and meaningful, there are even those who think Kojima is a deep writer, so before I shell out 40 jewro and get annoyed by another case of faux-intellectualist cringey musings of 20+ year old clueless, high-functioning kids, imma hold on and wait for a meaty sale.
