Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Coming back to this after a few years and greatly enjoying it now that it doesn't run like a dog anymore.
Lol, poorfag.

I haven't upgraded my computer in five years. :/
aside from ray tracing, which so far hasn't been too impressive there aren't really stride in visual improvement the past 5 years or so anyway. newer games only ran badly because games are getting unoptimized, not better looking.

As Colantonio explains it, Deathloop was initially conceived as a “small game” to keep Arkane occupied and learning before it jumped into another big project. “Bethesda wanted us to do something,” he says. “They didn’t quite know where we were going after Dishonored. ‘Do we want Dishonored 3? I don’t know, let’s make something simple and short before, and let’s see.’”

So Dishonored 3 literally was replaced with turdloop.
Nice to know.

My mainboard, CPU, HDD, DvD drive and one RAM are 12 years old. Only my graphic card was replaced and one extra RAM of 8 GB size was added during those 12 years. Even if I had more money I refuse to participate in this insane race to have the newest hardware.

Were you not around for computer gaming in the 90s and early 2000s? 'Cause if you think it's insane now you don't know the half of it.

You could probably upgrade to a low end mini pc and save a bunch on electricity and space.

Ryzen 5600H, 32gb ram and 512gb nvme for $330

Tried playing this again recently. It seems like I come to this game every few months to try and convince myself to like it.

So how exactly did you get from "let’s make something simple and short before, and let’s see" to Deathloop outright replacing another Dishonored game?

Every dev hour wasted on shitloop could of gone towards Dishonored 3.

We could of been looking at a December release of Dishonored 3.. but instead we have a dead steam game.

EDIT:
I thought I was shitposting in the deathhoop thread. Updated my snark.

I have i5-6600K, and GTX1660 SUPER. It still works for games I want to play.

I mean, if you're gaming in 1080p, a 2060 will be more than enough for a long while now (it is for me). People who think PCs are consoles are constantly afected by FOMO, they simply don't realize you can play a game 15 years after it's been released and your only concern would probably be not being able to get it legally, but that's not a problem anymore when Steam is 20 years old already.

Edit: yes, you heard that right. Steam is of college age now. 2004 was 87 years ago.

Kind of the opposite these days, it's increasingly common for games to be pulled off steam whether they be indies or triple A affairs for all sorts of reasons such as licensing issues from music to depiction of vehicles, developers dying, publishers shutting servers down after a couple months, trannies DMCA'ing your game after you paid them to make some music tracks, et cetera. So common there is already a year old website dedicated to tracking the process now https://delistedgames.com/watch-list/

Most relevant games will get torrented. And others will eventually come back in one way or another. Night Dive has already proven there's a market for these things. You'll se a Night Dive bringing Obsidian's games back in like 2050 or so.
That aspect is an issue, but still pretty minor. It's not like being held hostage by hardware and scalpers (outside of GPUs, I'll admit).

Its pretty bad, especially when it comes to file sizes. Games are a lot larger these days, especially western ones.
Doom Eternal is like 80 gigabytes, and I'm like why?
Because 4K, that is it. All games these days need to have 4k textures and there is just no way to really compress them without making the whole 4K aspect of them wholly irrelevant. The little detail only a handful of GPUs on the market even have enough VRAM to load said textures is not really a concern since they are all banking on each new GPU generation doubling in power and memory. The little detail of that failing to happen for 3 full fucking generations of GPUs is obviously of no concern to this master plan.

Add on top of it super high bitrate uncompressed audio and of course multiple language mutations on top of that and 80GB is actually a fairly well optimized package. :troll:

I assume they don't compress with FLAC because it has no copy-protection/encryption. Unfortunate.

"I see it as a positive! It's another option! I'm gonna speedrun through the game!"
The "play it your way" meme is a cancer to game design.
And the main reason why Dishonored failed to take a hold or build up a fanbase of any kind. It technically had the monopoly on the AAA stealth genre for several years and it fizzled out like a wet fart. For many reasons but the main one being that is just plays really bad.

Its does not really matter what playstyle you pick, it will always feels a bit off. The games somehow managed to hit the exact "sweet spot" of not being good at anything. The movement for example always felt too slow for stealth but too fast for combat as trying to zigzag around sightlines tends to almost always end up with you getting detected but then you can easily run circles around dudes to one shot them with your knife.
Same with the world and the story where the world is really interesting but you are basically not allowed to learn anything much about it(and when you do its exceedingly stupid Death of the Outsider) and the main story is boilerplate as fuck but told very slowly and in great detail so you can soak in all the bland.

Actually it has the exact same problem that Control has, that it feels like a game(s) nobody really wanted to make but was contractually obliged to make.

Yes, how else could they then sell the MP3 soundtrack for 20 bucks?
