Sven explicitly said there was no romances and that people who wanted them should go play Bioware games on a live stream. :P

Rhianna Pratchett, someone they had/have a working relationship with, thought it was fucking stupid.

And it is. :smug:

Rhianna Pratchett.

You'd think she'd be more tolerant, all things considered.

Whats risible about her comments are that its her father who's the successful writer (iirc, he was the most materially successful living british author before the Harry Potter books came out), and as far as I know she's done nothing of any note. The discworld books it has to be said are very good - the early ones like the one pictured (Sourcery I think? - Edit: which is hilariously ironic of course given that DOS uses the same misspelling) are rough around the edges, but as Terry Pratchett hit his stride in the later books, they are often extremely polished satires that are both funny and also thought-provoking.

The release of Divinity:Original Sin is still scheduled for June 30th which is in 13 days. And in case you're wondering, yes we do still have some surprises up our sleeves.
If you want to know more, come watch our high-level twitch stream tomorrow June 18th at 20:00 CET...

Anyone know what the surprises were?

I believe she wrote Thiaf as well, no?
Yep. Also the new Tomb Raider.

Just figured they intended to reveal it in the Twitch stream, nevermind.

Also, I started playing through Divine Divinity - can anyone give me some help in building a good survivor character - what skills should I focus on/ avoid etc?

She also wrote Overlord 2, Heavenly Sword, and Mirror's Edge. None of these games had a story of note from what I hear. And what I know, judging from Mirror's Edge who had a nice universe but was incoherent and shallow at best.

So far, all Rhianna has for her is her father's name. But even that as I grow up is starting to get most relative. Tried reading some Douglas Adams now that you are adult ? Pratchett is not as bad, especially the later discworld books, but it's going the same way as one grows up.

I never saw the appeal in Discword. I've read around 5 or so books and they aren't that funny or interesting. All Pratchett did was take fantasy tropes and apply clown paint on them, but they were still essentially cliched fantasy stories.

Which books? Early Discworld, Mid-period Discworld, and Late Discworld are rather different from each other, with the mid-period books being the most interesting IMO.

Going Postal, The Colors of Magic, The Light Fantastic, Guards! Guards!, The Last Hero, Equal Rites, Mort and Sourcery are the ones I remember by name. Could be a few more, maybe.

Does Cohen's daughter even wear chainmail bikini in Sourcery? I know that Kidby never actually bothered reading the books (which is why Rincewind looks 100 years old) and it's been quite a long time since I have read any of the early Discworld books, so I can't recall.

Mostly (apart from Going Postal) early Pratchett, when the series was more about parodying fantasy tropes than about actual stories.

Yeah, most of those are early Discworld. The Last Hero was actually a graphic novel with a rather simple fan servicey plot, and Going Postal was one of the first "late Discworld" books where Pratchett started getting boring, although I remember enjoying it.

"Guards! Guards!" is considered a classic however.

He was quite explicit about her being a sexy lump of skin in barbarian clothes, yes.

DAE think about potatos this days? No?

Errrr. I must confess I own every single Pratchett book and I'm with Infinitron here. Late books, Watch Saga including, were a bit too thin on jokes and a bit more on social critique but not exactly hitting home. It may be the case that the man has had goddamn Alzheimer for years yet still dictates his novels (thank you Rob <3)?

OMG it just hit me. Discworld mod for D:OS. The one in Neverwinter was funny enough but was lacking a bit on the assets and mood department. This game would be perfect!

Suppose that she's not really the worst writer in the industry though, merely average.
She was a script doctor on both Beyond Divinity and DKS.

Anyway the quality of her writing doesn't matter, the point is Larian thought she was good enough to fix their shit twice.

DKS was for majority of development dictated by their publisher/for consoles. I wouldn't see it in total as somehow emblematic of Larian's values. It would have said something if they had sought out her help/support for D:OS, since they are now in total creative control. They didn't.

Swen probably just has hots for her.

As previously established, Swen has girlfriends, plural. Probably blondes, knowing northern europe. Somehow I doubt he has the hots for a po-faced British woman.

Maybe he fell for her because of her way with words.

Oh wait, what the hell am I saying?

Regardless, she still beats such industry titans as, say, Hepler in pretty much every way.
