Codex 2014 PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Serpent in the Staglands Divinity: Original Sin Torment: Tides of Numenera Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 BattleTech A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
Will not hit the peak today, but will be higher than yesterday. Probably will peak at about 20k.

Roguey, you know that DayZ had an all-time concurrent peak at 45k? Do you really expect PoE to top that considering DayZ was a top-seller for half a year now?

I expect at least half a million to buy it on release is what I'm saying.

Gamespot in general is becoming pretty awesome site, there has been PC gaming focused article like every day recently.
Those were brought to you by Nvidia, mate... you know the hardware company that does not have their GPUs powering the current gen consoles.

9/10 on gamespot

http://www.gamespot.com/reviews/divinity-original-sin-review/1900-6415819/

He raves about some weird things (like making magical star fish) but a 9 is a 9. Gratz Larian (and the future of proper RPGs)

Gamespot said:
Some idiosyncrasies aren't flaws, however, but rather reminders of how often we expect games to ask of us the simplest questions and then provide us easy answers. How do you find the forest where the White Witch lives? You go out into the world and you find it. How do you locate all the door-opening switches in an immense library? You look for them, you investigate, you open your eyes wide and truly take in the space around you. Little by little, you learn the rules--and little by little, you wonder why there are so few games so willing to trust you to examine and explore.

Sometimes I fantasise about the ability to timetravel-post stuff on the Codex just to fuck with people's minds and telling people here a few years ago that this quote is from Gamespot (about a commercially successful turnbased Larian game) would be one of the first things I did. This, and laugh at people who expected Grimoire to be released after the first indiegogo campaign.

Actually, you said that last week, right before it reached its all-time peak, my dear. :)
My prediction was slightly-off by a week. It didn't hit a peak yesterday and definitely won't today.

Slightly-off, as in, a 50% relative error. You might want to consider a career as an industry analyst with that kind of accuracy. You could be the Michael Pachter of the social justice world.

Depending on how you define "on release", you may end up disappointed. A game like Dark Souls 2 likely sold about 500k copies in its first month on PC, and that has a lot more "mainstream appeal" than PoE.

Yeah I am sure the "3 reasons I prefer PC gaming" or "how to choose CPU" are paid for by nvidia.

Roguey's shitposting got a whole shittier since it became apparent PoE has serious competition for most successful KS RPG.

Hmmm. First Dishonered: Legendary Edition. Now Skryrim: Legendary Edition. This cannot be a coincidence. What is Bestahada up to? More sales to get some money? No.....
Please any talk about PoE only in the PoE thread.

Sold a million yet? No? Fail. Divine Divinity is still more popular game.

Quakecon is this weekend, so beth is promoting all their games a bit extra, hence the sales.

Exactly. All of the Bethesderp games are on heavy discount. OS is still full price.

And, yet, it has sold less than a mil. That's shit. DD sold over a mil.

DA2 made EA more money than D:OS made Larian. The end.

Arguments like yours are stupid.

DD is more popular than D:OS. That's a fact until proven otherwise.

\1mil+ sales > 250k sales

Who cares? EA games also have massively bloated budgets and spend ten times what Larian did developing Div OS on marketing alone. As far as DD vs. OS. DD sold a million copies over how many years? OS has been out for... a month?

Doesn't matter. More sales is more sales. And, D;OS has the bonus of being a game in a series that has been able to sell million+ copies. For all we know, all the people who bought D:OS are just repeat customers of DD. Yet, people make a big deal about. DD sold a mil+ copies so D:OS should be able to do the same within the first week because we all know Larian is so awesome that everyone loves their games and scoops them up.

So.. why has DOS onyl sold 250k and not a mil+?

Well seeing that DD was released in 2002 and was available for purchase multiple times for a price of around 2$, can we hold the judgment on D:OS and compare the sales in 2026?

You can't really compare them. DD has been out of years - as been on sale for pennies, but DOS have been out for 3 weeks and are still sold for full price.

If you want to compare you need to look at how much DD sold the first three weeks. And that was definitely less than what DOS sold.
