Broken Age also sucked up a lot more money than the Kickstarter. Pretty much all their profits from anything went towards Broken Age as well.
Plus their children's university funds, their house mortgage, their pensions, the lottery prize and their lunch money. You people know so much about things that were never made public. I wonder how can they run 4-5 projects simulteniously if they used up all of the company's money for BA.

lolumad?

I don't remember what episode it was, I think it was the one titled "We'll handle it" where they announced that they were going to run out of money if they didn't find some alternate funding. They hired their business development dude who managed to do some distribution deals in Korea or some shit, and a bunch of other stuff.

Or...gasp...they didn't want to use the funds of their running projects, putting them in danger, that's why they were looking for other funds, like the Brutal legend rerelease and Humble Bundles. They probably used the funds of Massive Chalice though.

hey announced that they were going to run out of money if they didn't find some alternate funding.
Ah, the usual Codex thinking. They hear some vauge information, and they spin it until they get the worst case scenario. Because truly, Double Fine must have used up the companies last penny on BA, while they have several running projects.

The total budget of both parts of Broken Age will certainly be higher than for D:OS if Swen's figures are to be trusted. Double Fine had about $2.5 million after fees/rewards if I remember correctly, and they were already over budget in July 2013.

They earned a million each with the humble bundle and releasing one of their backlog games (can't remember if it was psychonauts or brutal legend now). How much from each of those went into BA is unknown, but it was more than 0.

That's right, money from Humble Bundle, Amnesia Fortnights, pre-orders, translation deals for previous games, it's also cannibalising its own sales since part 2 is still in development. I suspect the overall budget was larger than Original Sins.

As an aside I'd just like to say thank you to Larian and Angthoron for this beauty that came in the mail today:

For those that still try to convince that boxes are a pointless extravagance, know this: this is an expression of intent, of fighting the good fight, of putting ones money where ones mouth is. Not for us the life of the 75% off Steam sale scab who picks over the tatty leftovers! Not for us the life of the whiny bitch that howls about the decline but then reserves his shekels for a Morgothian D1P turd!

When I will look up at my wall and see this(and W2,ToN,PoE eventually) I'll take pride knowing that I didn't have to, yet I still did, and I was a part of a Codexian brotherhood that dared to believe and threw down the gauntlet to the naysayers and craven dogs!

Larian is a small time dev and by ordering boxed set you've created additional pain and expenses for them. Thanks for contributing . They will not do it ever again.

I really don't understand why its so difficult. Small time board game makers do it as a matter of routine.

Hey, here's an idea, why don't they contract one of them to do it?

If you are an artist, programming is not easy. If you are a programmer, art is not easy. All they need to do is get people that know what they are doing.

Printing a manual and a box isn't difficult. If they can't do that, just send it to a print on demand service and let players organize group buys. Its only as difficult as they want to make it.

No, they aren't. This is a flat out lie unless your definition of 'small time dev' is 'smaller than Bethesda'.

You dumbfuck.
