FUCK !! I don't have money right now ! Why the hell are all these kickstarters ganged up together ?
Remember, that you will actually not be charged anything until the Kickstarter ends.

Hm. The bearded dude with glasses who plays co-op with the main narrator at 06:12 wears a classy Venom hoodie sometimes when he's filmed from the back, but a Lizzy Borden shirt when he's filmed from the front. That's strange, pretty schizophrenic taste in music if it's indeed the same person.

That schizo would be me. The footage where we sit down was recorded first, the freecam stuff a bit later, and I had apparently put on my Venom hoodie. That's one small detail we didn't nail.

Off-topic: yes, my taste in music is eclectic overall, and apparently even within the metal genre, although I see nothing wrong in liking both Venom AND Lizzy Borden. (So is there a metal topic?)

I've just watched the Kickstarter video and am now in the process of picking up my jaw from the floor. Before, I thought this game will be good, but if it all works out, it can actually be an amazing accomplishment of the genre.

EDIT:

The game's website received an overhaul and I think there are now more screenshots than before.

Dialogue system seems like a mix of keyword-based and full sentence (?).

Yes the more i see of it the more i like it , i have honestly no doubt it will turn out to be a good game, and maybe , yes it could even be one those games published once a blue moon , a game that you will remember 20 years later like ultima 7 .

Here is the Comment section and other various info compilation from the other thread:

The story of why we had to improvise our Kickstarter launch for Divinity: Original Sin - http://www.lar.net/2013/03/27/larian-on-kickstarter …–an-improvised-start/

Jaesun - The Serpent of Torment
Will mod makers have accesses to a scripting system similar to how powerful NWN/NWN2 was?

Creator Larian Studios LLC
Jaesun: Yes - the main scripting language is quite powerful. We made all the Divinities with it and to this date haven't encountered a single story situation that we couldn't represent with it.

Creator Larian Studios LLC
@Indira: I'm going to try to get you some script code here so you can see what it looks like - it's easier to learn than c++ and it's specifically tailored to the task of writing interactive stories. We'll definitely do an update that shows how scripting works in the coming updates.

@Larian Do NPC's have a schedule system, similar to say Ultima VII?

Creator Larian Studios LLC
Jaesun: No, we couldnt get day/night in there like we wanted to. The focus has been on reactivity rather than simulation. It'll be a stretch goal though if ever we get there.

Creator Larian Studios LLC
@Indira: We'll try to release the toolset before the game ships (it'll definitely be available in the beta if not already in the alpha) but the level of support we're going to be able to give at that time is going to depend on how well this Kickstarter goes.

Creator Larian Studios LLC
@JM: Yes, we are on track for a release before Christmas even if we still have loads of work, but we do it with a smile ;)

About Linux support:

Creator Larian Studios LLC
Daz23: We originally wanted to release PC/Mac simultanously. From there a Linux port wasn't that complicated anymore. (This is not Unity - it's our new engine). At some point however we decided to postpone the Mac version (and thus also Linux) because we wanted to focus on the gameplay content first. Our engine will be ported eventually (and with any luck, faster than expected because of this campaign) and at that moment we'll make it available for free to anybody who has a Windows version.

Creator Larian Studios LLC
@BBkick4 : we had to create an American company to be able to do this on the US Kickstarter.

Single Player AI:

Creator Larian Studios LLC
undecaf: In single player, you have several options. You can roleplay the other character (more fun than you'd expect), you can let the AI decide (in which case you have to set his personality, but it's more fun if you let this be random because the consequences can be so interesting), or you can have the party leader be the one that decides, without there being any discussion. It's really up to you.

Creator Larian Studios LLC
@gandalf.nho: Look at the attack of opportunity screenshot (https://s3.amazonaws.com/ksr/assets/000/455/038/9412a353b42a88c3e8e03ebd4bf6c9e1_large.jpg…) - look at the left side of the main UI bar (work in progress) - click the flee button, you end up in the closest tavern with loss of bragging rights

Creator Larian Studios LLC
@gandalf.nho: And sneaking is going to be possible - enemies have sight(a cone) & hearing, and they talk to each other (so if they see you, it propagates). ,

JM
@Larian The PCGMedia article says " I think Larian have left the story deliberately open with a view to allowing players to create their own story experiences."
Is the story 'open'.. meaning not much of one, or is there a strong story to get involved with.

Creator Larian Studios LLC
@JM: I'd say there's really a lot of story but it's possible to play the game without involving yourself too much in it by using the systemics of the game (which is what the writer witnessed). I.e. I think he saw everybody in a village being killed by orcs that had been lead there by the party and was surprised to hear that that didn't mean you couldn't finish the game anymore. In fact, we designed the game to deal with situations like this. But in doing so,that particular party in this particular session did miss out on plenty of storylines. They still had fun though.

Creator Larian Studios LLC
@Robert: I wouldn't dare. You have to imagine our situation - back in 2010 (well ok, the end of 2010) we decided to go full monty on making a turn-based RPG with a game editor which features real RPG multiplayer, investing pretty much most of the money we made in the past. At that time, nobody was talking about the turn-based RPG revival, nobody was talking about Kickstarter etc... and everybody declares us crazy. Then, we discover that we actually made something cool (seriously, we did), but we're not going to have enough money to do exactly what we feel we need to do. So we come out of our cage and we look at Kickstarter, where apparently, everybody decided to make a turn-based RPG. We even get remarks of the type - what are you thinking, are you crazy ? All turn-based RPGs are already funded, we're getting tired of them ;) If we delay more, next thing we'll discover is that somebody is actually making a RPG with cooperative dialogs, turn-based combat like we do it and a game editor, got it funded on Kickstarter and already released it :)

This game was probably my most anticipated RPG coming up... moreso than Torment, Eternity or anything else for that matter. Backed immediately. Godspeed, Larian :salute:

Sven and the rest of the guys are bros. I wish nothing but the best for them and really look forward to this game.

Them launching the Kickstarter early because of the RPGWatch article going out early is... RETARDED, I'm sorry to say. I hope they meet and exceed their goals. I really want this to be a good game. But damn, whoever decided to prematurely ejaculate the KS campaign because of a RPGW article is... dumb.

If they had of waited a couple of weeks until Torment was finished, and ~officially announced~ the date of their Kickstarter a fortnight or so before, as well as set up a dedicated board for suggestions and to get the word out, then they would of been in a better position. They could of even got InXile/Obsidian to give them a plug in an update.

Seems rushed, though will prob make it

I've asked them some questions and got answers. Maybe someone else is interested in these:
- One copy of the game wll be enough to play coop (game will be DRM free), but Larian consider it not-bro to play like this and encourage to buy two copies (like in the $40 tier).
- They are working on PayPal options with the same tiers but without the outrageous shipping costs to outside the US (at least within the EU).
- The game will have a boxed version (at least here in Poland, distributed by CDP), but atm Collector's Edition ($95 tier) is exclusive to KickStarter. This may change, however.

So, there goes my money.

Best of luck to the kickstarter, hopefully it catches on. Why didn't they announce their kickstarter beforehand?

Upped my pledge to $150 level. Boxed collector's edition + alpha and beta access. I like. :D

So, does anyone here in Poland want to buy a Nintendo 3DS? I am in desperate need of some cash.

I'm very glad to read this. I'm a poor fucker, and I always thought it'd be nice to play a proper crpg with my gf, but no way in hell can I afford 40$. I was on the fence with this one (not because I'm not interested in the game (I am, very), but because I don't have money), because I really am broke, but now that I read this, I can't miss the chance so my gf and me finally can play something cool together. I did want to support them somehow, but this was a deciding factor for shelling out money and eating crap for the next few months. They truly ARE bros, even for poor thridworldians. :incline:
