This doesn't look good. It doesn't even look like they have a proper melee system, it just looks like a bunch of canned execution animations stitched together. Though I suppose this is an improvement over the Glory Kills of the previous games, which were essentially mini-cutscenes.

Why would they make a game focused on melee combat when they obviously don't have any experience designing such mechanics?

Those big open encounters with hordes of enemies bear some actual resemblance of classic Doom and even Serious Sam, superficially at least, but at the same time they've clearly leaned even further into trying to make it play like a console hack&slash game with the extra emphasis on melee along with the parry mechanic.

The whole idea of "standing your ground" against enemies also goes against what they're proposing with it playing more like ye olde Doom, which is foundationally a shmup where you avoid hits. It doesn't look awful but it does look to be a bit conflicted with itself.

Issues:

- Melee system appears to be weirdly implemented
- Standing your ground instead of fighting on your terms can feel like a weird turn-based system
- Whole slews of enemies that just stand there as fodder bring back the worst memories of slaughter maps
- Weird slowdowns on killing enemies
- "But muh sliders to change speed" means the devs don't have a feel of what they want combat to feel
- Giant robot battles feel like they take place in empty spaces instead of an actual location
- Large maps come at the cost of detail in those maps
- Cutscenes to waste our time
- If you don't pay extra at launch you are punished with playing the game two days late

I wonder if the melee moves are replacing the nades? Must run on a recharge source of some sort. Anyone know about the ppl/team doing the music? They didn't mention Andrew H...

also, no multiplayer nonsense is INCLINE. also, I hope they retain the strict ammo economy from Eternal but time will tell.

32 nigs of ram lol
Game looks almost exactly like Eternal with practically the same on screen monster count, how in the flying fuck is it asking for twice the system resources?

Also why no grabbing executions? Only smashing and kicking?

It looks like the melee moves are replacing the flamethrower. In the video, all of the melee moves yield ammo drops.

Mandatory Raytracing? Dammit. What's funny is that, even though the writing is cringe, so far Doom guy is probably the last Western hero who hasn't been pozzed so far.

And yes nignog Morgoth , I can run that shit (in recommended). It's just the games' the same as Eternal and nowhere an improvement in size or mechanics.

Are you blind or something? The levels are going to be much much bigger than the Eternal arenas.
Neger bitte. 'Slightly bigger' ain't twice the game. Spec creep has been a thing for too damn long, and they're basically make the same shit with a few caveats while asking for an almost mid spec pc to play properly.
I could run Eternal with an i7 from 2010 and a 1060 from 2016 with high graphics almost perfectly, now this shit wants almost all my current specs for the same goddamn game and gameplay, that doesn't even have executions. It's like they forgot how to optimize at all.
Seriously why the fuck do you need mandatory raytracing now?

Fucking called it, didn't i.

And don't worry, on those games that won't have mandatory raytracing, they won't bother using traditional methods so your game is going to look like shit with RTX off.

Progress!
