Let's say I found a video or message board post of someone saying "I am so awesome at Oblivion! It's a great game!". At that point, how would I prove their intelligence to you?
It's easy - if you are making a video talking about how awesome you are at Oblivion - you are retarded.

By that account you can only weed out ones that are retarded, very few make those videos. Still, the ones that do are generally just very young and with possible low self esteem. It wouldn't say much about their overall intelligence and how they may turn out.

The "smart people dont like stupid games" comment is retarded. People have this misconception that smart people can only enjoy "smart" things. I don't consider myself a smart guy, but I do like to "shut off my brain" sometimes, like he said.

Halo and other twitchy games could be tactical if people bothered with team strategies on the phone, instead of singing and shit. Just because the fanbase is retarded doesn't mean the game itself is retarded. I'd bet a lot of retards that played FO3 tried 1 and 2, and are having fun. Does that make them worse now?

Pong treats you like a retard too. "Hurr move the bar up and down". Does that mean it's a shitty game, or that people who like it are stupid?

I also love the "Oh, this is not subjective. Btw, Halo is shit and so is Oblivion, and anyone who likes those is retarded because I say so". :D

Judging someone's intellect based on a single choice (games, at that) is idiotic. Maybe the guy has poor taste in games, but a better taste in clothes?

I took some IQ tests because I was curious, but they all put me on "average", etc. So, they are all bullshit and not to be trusted.

Judging by your posts better don't forget to turn it on at least once in a while.

Sorry Halo's gameplay doesn't let the game to be tactical.

I'd bet a lot of retards that played FO3 tried 1 and 2, and are having fun.
You mean all those guys that tried FO1&2 and cried about how shitty non-first person and outdated it is?

Pong treats you like a retard too. "Hurr move the bar up and down". Does that mean it's a shitty game, or that people who like it are stupid?
This "argument" is so stupid - I'm speechless. Are you really having a trouble telling a simple gameplay from a dumbed-down hand-holding one?

Smart people can enjoy non-intelligent games, but only relatively intelligent people can fully appreciate intellectually demanding ones. Below-average thinkers may nevertheless find the non-intelligent parts of such games appealing. For instance, they may like Fallout 1 and 2 for gibs and violence, while paying little attention to dialogues or unusual exploration possibilities. I suppose I'm stating the obvious.

Volourn
Then the so called hardcore gamers ala the Codex are the dumbest most terrible consumers ever as they'll continually buy games they *know* they will hate from companies they hate. That's moronic.
It would probably be safe to assume that most people pirate rather than purchase PC games. I, myself, only own a few legal copies of games, mostly by Paradox.

I read only 3 posts into the derailment of the thread, and now I'm writing this into Quick Reply, saving myself some time and unnecessary exposure to one-sided arguments that takes 2.5 pages so far. Now, if that isn't intelligence right there, I don't know what is. I'm, however, just as compulsive as all of you to simply posta reply at all.

For all the hating you do on fanboys, you don't seem to realize you share the exact same mentality - just reversed. Fanboys have an extremely positive reaction to a certain product, and refuse to see any negative aspects to it, ignoring all logic in the process. You, on the other hand, have an extremely negative reaction to certain things, and refuse to see any positive aspects to them, also ignoring all logic in the process. Don't think for a second that you're better than "fanboys" just because you hate things without question, rather than loving them without question. Two sides of the same coin.

Of course it's possible to tactical in Halo, even as simple as the gameplay is. And, of course, the tactical options available aren't nearly as complex as a gamed designed with tactical options in mind. However, to claim that it's not possible to be tactical in Halo is to also claim that a team with no strategy is just as effective as a team that has a coherent strategy and uses certain tactics to their advantage.

The tactics available in Halo may be quite simple - a flanking move here, an ambush there. Certainly not nearly as complicated as a true "tactical" game, and anyone who would claim Halo to be an extremely tactics-oriented game is wrong. But, claiming that there are no tactics in Halo because it's a "dumbed-down hand-holding game" is just as wrong - it just happens to be the opposite extreme of wrong.

There are no tactics in Halo. If you call "flanking" in the tight linear corridors or "camping" - "tactical" - I pity you. If you think that a shooter where the gameplay is all about strafe-jumping has tactics - you've never played even a remotely tactical game. Because we can say that there are tactics in any game simply because you can choose to not blindly rush into a bullet rain. Compared to Halo Battlefield games are like hardcore tactical army simulators.
But I enjoy your stupid "arghhh skyway posted his opinion about some dumb game I don't care about! But I must prove him wrong by throwing strawmen! Arghhh" every time I shit on some bad overhyped game with poor gameplay. Please do continue.

God, would you just tell skyway he's right? It'd either shut him up or make him claim he was wrong all along. Just make this crap "argument" stop.

Skyway has an Epic Aura of Trolling feat, which gives his targets -20 to saves against replying.

The ridiculously oversized shoulder pads kills the maturity for me. Those things would be a huge hindrance to a real world fighter, and scream "style over substance", which is the opposite of mature.
Actually, enormous shoulder pads stems from an animation thing. Armored shoulder joints are notoriously difficult to animate and result in peculiar twisting and warping, which looks absolutely terrible when you're dealing with something that is supposed to be rigid and metal. The huge shoulder pads are basically there to cover up the twisting and warping that happens when you try to animate it.

The mind boggles
