Although the pronoun usage is daft because "at the cost of your own life" implies a specific person he is addressing, and not the Warden himself, could be sacrificed in the Warden's cause of protecting others. I'm presuming the intended meaning is:

"All a Warden is is a promise to protect others—even at the cost of his own life."

Bioware writers should be forced to drink hemlock for corrupting the minds of the youth.

Yes, I am so awesome you completly missed my point, which was that cutting a body in 3 parts did not require magical powers, not that it is a trivial task (heck, you could even make 6 parts by cutting all the fingers in one go). In case you had not noticed, the power level of the characters of DA is supposed to be slightly higher than your average swordsman. Cutting both arms and the torso of a random guy in an universe where named characters are supposed to kill ogres for breakfast is not that impressive.

That and this Iron Bull makes it sound like it is a complicated physical problem to solve.

The correct colloquialisms you need are "I don't know shit", or "I know jack shit", or "I know shit all" ("jack shit" and "shit all" expressing "nothing"). "I know shit (about)" isn't adequate for what you're trying to express. Poorly expressed language leads to confusion, and confusion leads to misunderstanding. Dragon Age: Inquisition is presumably a game with a great deal of text. It's reasonable to expect basic competence in its presentation.

No, that's not what I meant. I was trying to say (and failed horribly) that he (the warden) might actually be just speaking the quoted words. Something like this: *he started* "All a warden is" *he paused, as if trying to gather his thoughts* "is a promise" *he proceeded with confidence* "To protect others..." *then added while looking very serious* "Even at the cost of your own life..."

So what I'm trying to say is that they wrote those stuff more like a script, because since Mass Effect, their games are very cinematic, very movie-like. And it's just different in this kind of presentation, mainly because you're writing not only what are the characters saying but how, what's they're emotional state etc (the writers have to basically picture "an actor" while writing - that's why they work with cinematic designers very closely). Based on BG2, I think Gaider is a pretty good writer (I'm talking about the skill, not content), but those games are as different as movies and books in this regard, so both require different approach. I'm sure when that warden is gonna said those words, it's gonna feel natural. The only thing you're gonna actually read in DA:I, are codex entries. Judge them after you read those.

It's not a huge deal, just funny they're using such poorly written attempts at "badass dialog" for marketing purposes. It sounds like an old man trying to use the new hip lingo around the neighborhood kids, and they laugh at him for being such a poser. Might be a sign the whole game is like that.
