Indeed. She gave off such a dyke vibe with the shaved head, loose pants and tattoos. But as I approach her with my femshep to munch some carpet, she goes all "I tried that before, but I don't do it no more"... Made me start over as male shep.

Anyone with any knowledge of The Witcher series would know what a fucking load of bullshit this statement is.

Witcher 1 - no console release. They got some other developer to create a console port from scratch and then canned it because it was going to be shit

Witcher 2 - launched on PC with no console version. They released on console a year later and brought all the extra features, for free, to PC.

I'm going to just ignore that part about PS:T. Jesus Christ...

In reality romances (and definitely sex) can happen rather spontaneously without huge amounts of dialogue or build up. Two people meet somewhere, something clicks, they might have sex (or not), and then it possibly develops into something deeper later on, sometimes rather quickly. It's not like you need to have extensive dialogues about philosophical ideas, daddy issues, your past lives and other shit before you're ready for bed or even a longer relationship. I don't know where people even get the idea that you'd need to have an incredible amount of build-up for something like that, because a little spark is often enough if there's mutual attraction of some kind. Even books and movies generally manage to portray romances with relatively few words, sometimes even successfully. Apparently BioWare have moved on from the "sex is the final stage of the romance" structure of their romances, but the dialogue is still written by fucking aliens who've never hit on a woman or a man at a bar in their lives. A good computer game romance is a question of writing, mostly, and usually computer games just don't have very good writers.

Many people shit on The Witcher's "immature" approach where Geralt fucks everything that moves and has a vagina, often in inappropriate places and situations with maybe a tiny bit of foreplay and very little talking, but I find that much more believeable than what BioWare's doing, and definitely preferable to it. It's often funny and there's at least some spontaneity and light-heartedness to it whereas BioWare either treat sex as a super serious thing like good Christians or write "playful" dialogue that wouldn't feel out of place in some terrible porn movie. Some people mentioned Max Payne 2, and that's another game where there's not a whole lot of dialogue between Max and Mona in the entire game, but their relationship feels natural and believeable nonetheless.

To be fair, I wonder if there even exists a writer who could write a romance that would satisfy BioWare's target audience without being godawful in some way.

The only question that matters for game developers is whether the audience actually wants this degree of realism in their video game romances.

They sure as hell don't want this degree of realism when it comes to other aspects of characterization & character interaction.

It comes down to objects in distance and lighting, which is really great, but those idiots here showed only cloudy + rainy corridors...

I'm genuinely surprised they haven't used the PLAY EPIC CONCLUSION TO AN EPIC TRILOGY™ card in the trailer. I can only assume they don't want remind anyone DA2 still exists.

Where really isn't much of an overarching story to warrant the title of trilogy let alone a conclusion to a series of event. Origins makes it seem that the Darkspawn and their corrupted old god masters are the overall theme. But DA2 only touches on those things in the prologue and first chapter. The rest of the game has you faffing around sticking your nose in everyone's else's business until the Mage-Templar dispute boils over into revolt. Inquisition appears to follow on with that. Unless this event that everyone is being coy about and refusing to spoil changes everything brings the story back to old gods and the like.
That didn't stop them from calling the Mass Effect series a trilogy. The second entry had nothing to do with the first and the third was an hamfisted unnecessary ending to the first. Every entry was pretty much a reboot with the amount of retcons and changes in theme, tone and focus.

You played te same protagonist in all the ME games, with a forced name and everything. In DA the only forced a named protagonist in the worst game (AFAIK) and you get a new one in every game. They are basically in that position to make an unlimited number of DAs. although I fear they sucked most of the juice out of "epic story to save the world" in their world soon.

But it's alot less obtrusive; the only time you're ever called by it outside of the origin is if you're a human or dwarven noble from what I remember.

Even then though, hardly anyone's running around calling you Cousland, or whatever the dwarf noble's name was.

But you get called "Warden" instead all the time. That's why games with no voice acting (or just partial voice acting) are cooler. You get to pick your full name and everyone calls you that.

I was about to check out the "keep" and import my DAO hero and shit. Only to see that you need to have your game on origin to be able to do that. Fuck that shit!

It makes no difference for the Keep functionality. You can pick choices without importing previous heroes.

Oh I understand your confusion my children. In a world, where there's a game made by BioWare yet it's not a garbage, everything could be possible. Such world is interfering with our basic beliefs, nothing is certain anymore. And it hurts, I know, it always hurts to question opinions you had for granted. It's in our nature to fight something, which threatens the very principles of our lifelong knowledge, and thus our existence. The weaker among us will learn to hate the game, they will convince themselves it is bad and that everything is still according to their beliefs... But could it be?! Is it possible that Dragon Age: Inquisition is not a shitty game? And if so, is Codex ready for this unexpected turn of events?

I will leave you now, to reflect on all I have said...
The codex recently voted that neo-liberle interventionist propaganda screed DA:O very highly in it's top 70 list, so don't be expecting too much shock and awe if DA:I starts getting praise.

The point of Keep is you can change all the choices. I didn't remember half of the choices represented in the tapestry, but it really doesn't matter whether you played through the previous games or not.

(Also, I doubt those choices actually have a substansial effect but I still prefer Keep to having to replay all of ME 1 + 2. It looks like they handled a lot of the previous game tidbits in DA:I in text entries, so I guess it's fairly easy for them to swap out King Alistair for King Grey Warden.)

Can't you simply import the save file in DAI, like you could in DA2?
The only method to affect the world state in DA:I is by using the Dragon Age Keep site to import your achievements and character name/class from previous games. Then they let you play around with the choices and characters.

Anyone who played Witcher 2 cannot deny the game was made with consoles in mind. It is designed to be played with a gamepad and the interface is absolutely horrible and totally made for consoles. The fact it got released later on said hardware is irrelevant. Witcher 2 IS a console game.

When Microsoft and Sony came to CDP to do their usual bribe to delay the PC version until after the Xbox and Playstation releases, they probably tried to bribe CDP with paper instead of potato, and thus ended up with a confused rejection to their bribe. And so, CDP released the game versions as they finished them, instead of the usual release method of whenever the big two's bribes run out.
