Wasn't the bear sex thing just something funny/silly someone did and the internet considered it amusing?

You gotta love the juxtaposition of the title and the mourning background color

I don't understand these positive reviews.

The takeaways are:

I played on god mode to avoid the combat mechanics.

I hate the art style and that Dragon Age feels the need to reinvent itself with every game.

I am disappointed that Solas is barely in the game.

I am disappointed that the hubs and levels feel so barebones and needed more fleshing out.

I am disappointed that so much vital information is relegated to the Codex and not told directly to the player, making it easy to miss important details.

I am disappointed that returning systems like giving gifts to companions feel so underdeveloped.

I am disappointed that character romance mainly focuses on what happens after sex, with little build-up to the romance overall.

I am disappointed that almost none of the choices from previous games carry over, as this impacts both the setting and the plot.

I hate how the armors look and I can't pick a one that suits me.

I dislike there is not enough customization options for the Inquisitor

The beginning is very slow.

GREAT GAME, PLAY IT NOW!

It’s like her conclusion disregards everything she just said.

She got her Solas-inquisitor romance fix, that's all that matters

Girl mods combat out of Origins, go easy on her

Part of what makes this so popcorn-worthy is that, if the game releases and Skillup is vindicated (Jason Shrier giving tentative confirmation) then it'll prove something we've long suspected - the reviewers across the board make a habit of playing through a game on the easiest difficulty to bumrush the game and get a story out.
Morty does 100% achievement runs. If there is an achievement for beating the game on hard, then he has done so.
But yes, I do suspect, and even expect, that rushing to finish the game involves playing it on the easiest difficulty. How would it not?
Years ago there was some review commenting on actual game mechanics, like invisible barriers or whatever, that only work that way on easy. And then the reviewer complained about the bad ending, but the game only ends that way on easy mode. On every other mode, you get a different, cooler ending. When the developer said as much on Twitter, they redacted the review text, but kept the score low, despite deleting the given reasons for why it is low. A screenshot of this review was reposted often during Gamer Gate, someone might have it.
Hasn't he been caught using cheats to give himself all achievements on steam. Like he had 100% on a game (games?) where 100% was impossible due to a bug. What are the odds he even played more than an hour of this slop?
I've read that is the case but no idea if it is proven. Apparently something called Steam Achievements Manager exists that just grants the achievements for a game. Of the reviews I've seen, nearly every one has comments of people saying they are amazed he has completed it in the given time frame. I suspected he didn't even before these rumors.

But my problem with Mortismal isn't whether he lies about achievements or not. The guy speed runs through games like an icon hunter. Not how I ever want to play a video game. He also clearly has very different tastes and does tend to 'find the good' in pretty much anything. I like most games I play as well but I play a handful of games a year and am choosey about it.

I would say his redeeming quality is simply that he isn't going over the top to bash a game either, which does get old. Not everything needs to be a carpet bombing. The main difference between SkillUp (who also has questionable tastes) and Mortismal on this review is that SkillUp is using video cuts of direct material to buttress his criticism. It isn't vague or just vibes/feels based generalities about the game. The dialogue being cringe and ideological is going to be a no-go for a lot of people. Couple that with the art style and bizarre facial animations and even a deep sale is hard to justify.

This sugar-coated, "cute" tumbling. Inlcuding the main character in an action scene like this, without including at least some timed promts, is against the whole idea of RPGs. You're forced to witness Rook acting the way he does without any control over his confused state. While the whole scene does contain a suitable excuse for losing control of your character, some amount of flavor control would've been appropriate.

But then this isn't an RPG and Rook only exists to fellate the troon self-inserts, so...

How can a dwarf be a magician in the first place, since they don't dream and can not enter the fade???

Everyone can be whoever or whatever they want, bigot. Magic is the power of being special.

I'm getting the feeling that where ever I look, the troons and their pets outnumber the based by at least 10:1. I thought the pendulum was supposed to be swinging back. There's not a single place outside Codex where you could be safe from their insipid bullshit. They can't be that numerous.

Could this indeed be some kind of media manipulation via bot armies and paid shills, or just a bunch of permanently online social warriors coordinating their attacks?

This is what no one gets here. We are an echo chamber minority just like Resetera but on the OTHER side of the culture war. However! The vast majority of normies are absolute fucking retards and are easily swayed by propaganda. Basically NPCs, they can form no opinions of their own.

So anyone under say, age 40, is a dumb ass consoomer and will gladly consoom product with little thought or care about the messaging. "Things are just this way now" is the extent of their cognition regarding this absurd agenda. That is your blackpill for today, swallow it down you are surrounded by midwits and the brain damaged and it gets worse every decade as IQs drop like a stone.

Spot on on the echo chamber part, because jesus holy christ you people are twisting yourself into sobbing balls of hysterics as if this shit game matters in the course of western civilization. Fucking everyone is on their period throwing money at the cracks in the wall to keep the joos away because Veilguard means that the spooky wokes are out to get them.

This game will suck, yes, and and it will also sell fine out of the gate. Bioware will do a victory lap, and be on the lookout for whether they announce that it's "their biggest launch ever" like they did with Inquisition (the market is bigger now, so I don't know how much that means anything, but if they don't the silence sure will be conspicuous). I still think there's an outside chance it snags a GOTY nomination, but that'll depend on how the game is received on launch, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it launched to mixed reviews even from normals. I know a lot of people are planning to buy it just to review bomb it and then refund the game later, but for god's sake have the sense to not sound quite so fucking unhinged. If there's anything that normals hate more than a bad game, it's people spamming all this deranged conspiratorial political nonsense. Just focus on how it fails as a game, there should be plenty of meat on the bone there - running around screeching about the wokes are hiding under your bed is just going to play right into their hands and "prove" that the only people who don't like it are unfuckable hate nerds.

Still, for chrissake sake, perspective. Saint's Row reboot had the same caliber writing. Bomb. Forespoken had the same quality writing. Bomb. Immortals of Aveum might be the worst written piece of shit I've ever seen, cost EA 120 million goddamned dollars, and it fell off the face of the earth, taking well over 100 million dollars with it.

"Consoomers" seemed to gauge the quality of those products just fine.
Fellow, human-oids, we must ignore the "wokes" and let them continue to do what they do lest we prove them right that we are nazihitlergoebbelsincels!

The only thing worse than the trannies shilling these games are the "neutrals" that always show up to tell everyone to stop being big bad meanies. Oh no, the Redditors(whom you think are normies for some reason) are going to call you an incel. The world is coming to an end, surely.
You're so fucking retarded you don't even understand how much we agree. It's almost easier to deal with a tard you half agree with, because the lines are easy to draw. The problem with chimp brains that you meet 95% of the way on, they gibber and froth and scream over that 5% like it's scissors coming after their dicks.

Pretty much everyone here is on the same page (except for that one dude, shine on you crazy diamond).

Let me break this down into pieces so they're easier to swallow:

A) Is this game woke as all fuck? Yes. Absurdly, hilariously so. Hell, that's half the fun, they were so eager about their agendas they let it run right over the need to make an actual game (same for a lot of reviewers, methinks). I think there's a very strong possibility of profound backlash when this game his shelves - not because normies are torn up about the politics, but because the game won't be there. And man, I'm sooooooo here for that.

So yeah, tear it a new assholle. Tear it five new genders. That's all part of the fun.

B) That said, a buncha y'all get fucking deranged with this weird-ass conspiracy nonsense, like Veilguard is breaking the seventh seal and the eight rainbows of the apocalypse are coming to get you. I'm not saying to get a grip because the politics upset my oh-so-gentle feelings or the ruffle the feathers fragile messes, I'm saying to chill because it's fucking boring and clutters shit up. I want to laugh at the game, not get derailed by a bunch of tards posting excerpts from their mass shooting manifesto.

Look, people have obviously been around longer than me, so I'm not going to put claims on what the site has always been, but back when I joined I put up a question "What caused The Decline?" Got a lot of really interesting and informed answers, a lot of people had insight into problems and transitions in the industry, mainly the pressures coming from producing with HD quality and the decline in PC sales. Just game and industry talk, not a word about people's freakish politics. You ask that question today, you might get insight, but you'd have to dig through pages of hysterical crybabies screeching about about how the woke monster barged in and raped their grandma. Are politics an issue? Yeah, fucking duh. But acting like it's the sole bogeyman in a complex industry, I'm sorry but all y'all on this train are fucking dumb. Posting about it endlessly is dumb. Worse than dumb.

It. Is. Boring.

C) No buddy, nobody is trying to censor you on this site or protect redditors from your ability to regurgitate mid-2010s 4chan in all its glory. The main point I'm making, my advice, if you want this game to fail, is to keep your derangement in your pants when you fan out into normie spaces. Because it will backfire. That is reality. And I'm sorry if it hurts your feelings.

Quite frankly, though, I care more about hurting Bioware's feelings and all their media enablers than yours.

So you gotta ask - what do you value more, for this game to be publicly humiliated, or the chance to crawl out of this safe space to gibber and froth in the town square? Because if you do, don't be surprised if Bioware and all their enablers point a finger directly at you and say "see, our haters are gibbering, frothing retards." Your fucking stupidity will be their shield. So no, it's not about protecting them, it's about defeating them. What's matters more? You want to fight smart or fight dumb?

Me, I'm just annoyed when I have to scroll past so many conspiracy nutters. It'd be nice for them to touch grass, sure, but my greater hope is for this game to fail, or at least encounter some serious backlash, and I'm just telling y'all the most effective way to make that happen.

Keep it in your pants.
You make some good points here, end of the day this is just a game created by a former highly admired development studio that has decided to create the female characters in a woke and disappointing way

I genuinely believe most of the reasons for this is they think they doing right thing, " we dont want to have normal and attractive females because somehow that objectifies women" but it makes no sense and its actually insulting to most women that this is how " women typically look "

And there would be an agenda from some of the people involved and a bias but that wont be everyone's reason

I have a very simple view on this, if you say a game should represent inclusivity then it must be consistent with that ethos. And that means it should cater for all gamers and that includes straight men

But I dont think the choice Bioware has made should be exaggerated and conflated with some kind of global conspiracy theory and " established " global reality that many people obsess about

Because that is definitely not true even if some radical feminists and similar activists want that. I have mentioned this is a previous post but beautiful and attractive women still exist and thrive in all aspects of society so gaming should be no different

It's really as simple as this - they hate you. They've been programmed with a doctrine that teaches hate. What the hell else have radical political movements always revolved around, if not hate?

It positively oozes from their oversized pores. They care more about getting to do a bit of hating the cishet oppressor male, than they do about social justice. Your privilege is nothing but the privilege of having become well-adjusted, something they never had. Well-adjusted people seldom become members of first-world problem groups.

Of course they brought in the Dialogue wheel. Even though not even the Fallout 4 normies liked it.

Like somebody stated they wanna go for that FORTNITE money, meaning you have to attract even 4 year olds that can barely hold a controller or learned to speak.

What they don't understand is these kids don't buy games derived from RPG's. It's just total nonsense to think this a good idea to make sales. Slop that will flop. You can not artificial engineer an audience like this. Either you pump out a banger or you can pack your shit and go home.

I think any attempt to target children has nothing to do with sales and everything to with bringing the ideology to children.

Why not both?

Oh no, we don't hire our friends and allies in this industry, no sir. Nepotism is for evil rich whitey oppressors.

I bring you the good stuff. I recorded all sequences from the Qunari non-binary companion, Taash. Spoilers are a given (unless you don't care about her story).

I couldn't do it. I couldn't survive the first minute. What the fuck is this dialogue? They're shaming regular women for being women. The bootlegged Tiefling from fiver is basically shaming the character for showing off her non-existent boobs, what the fuck.
xbI0KBx.png

You can certainly interpret Taash's revulsion as an accidental(?) admission that troons hate female curves. And yeah, they most certainly do. It's got nothing to do with sexualisation. They just want to be the only ones available for sexualisation, and women with their natural jiggle are competition.

Hint: most people are not smart enough to distinguish between an actor and the villain they played, and will harass them for imaginary crimes. Exact same thing with woman saying how much they ''dislike'' sexualization of fictional people.
I bet they simply asked them "Do you dislike sexualization of women?" to which they unsurprisingly replied "Yes."

In this day and age, it's almost like asking someone in a survey if they are racist. The "correct" answer is already clear.

Yeah, doctoring politically touchy surveys is a widespread thing. But it's also possible that the survey's conflicting signals are coming from different individuals, instead of it being a sign of internal conflicts.

-Brings back a legacy character just so they can apologize for misgendering

The literally brought back Isabella - DA2's most overtly sexual female character, only to humiliate her in front of the new morally righteous, trans-friendly characters.

Am I the only one who sees some symbolism in that? Man, they must hate what Isabella represents.

"Bioware was always woke" - well, yes and no.

Biowhore was always at the forefront of whatever counts as sjw/woke, as mandated by globohomo regime propaganda at any given time. But what exactly this means changes wildly with the years.

I'm playing Ass Effect 1 now. Released in 2007.

Protagonist is customizable, but there's a default appearance that is a (traditional action hero looking) White guy who's also heavily featured in all promo materials. The default female does not get much portrayal outside of the game of whoever picked her for their playthrough. For all intents and porpoises, Commander Shepard is that buzzcut guy.

First companion: normal-looking White guy. Out of six companions, three are male, and none of the males are effete.

The military spaceship is staffed with men who look and act the part. No gender quota dieversity bullshit. The captain of the ship is a Black man (Obummer). Human representative in the interstellar government is a Black man (Obummer). The ship's doctor is a somewhat sultry womynz. One of the three core alien races is an all-female space slut species.

Main antagonist (so far) is an alien male, and his cohort is an (alien) female. No "white men can only be evil villains, female antagonists must be extremely sympathetic tho" bullshit. At least, so far.

By today's insane standards, this game was made literally by Hitler. But by the standards of 2007, it was quite woke to begin with. You start out with two male companions, and one of them immediately gets killed and replaced by a random womynz soldier that you just happen to run into. Pretty clear woke messaging, just not glaringly obnoxious and in your face like today.
