Should probably switch out my ranger pawn for something else till such time I get hands on anti-ghost gear. Can't wait to toss the pawn into the sea forever.
Also I accidentally waifu'd Selene or whatever her name. Fuck.

Yeah, pawn Rangers feels weak, with bows or daggers which they often switch to too often. Playing as a Ranger on the other hand...
I would not have much problems with ghosts if my main pawn (mage) would cast enhancements in time, like "right from the start".
And how the heck people accidentaly make love interests? That require gifting and that's not something made by accidents.

Not really. In many cases it's enough to complete an NPCs quests to max affinity with them. In fact the game locks one (last one to max?) eligible character with max affinity as the "romantic interest".

Once you ran through the whole game once and then killed Daimon for the first time it might be the time to grind a few hundred levels so that you can kill Daimon's final form. For that purpose I recommend killing the offline Ur Dragon (can be found in the post game riftstone at the side cove, inside of Cassardis) with a shitton of pilgrim's amulets bought from Fournival.

Uh, why do you need to grind to beat Daimon's final form?
I kinda did it on first try without grinding other then a few Bitterblack gear runs...

Some classes need the extra levels. Magic damage for an instance needs to beat the enemy's physical defense before it registers any damage. If a Sorcerer doesn't get any of the bitterblack weapons until the very end they might want to grind a few dozen levels. And if you want to fight for the online Ur Dragon you might as well reach level 200 before it.

Indeed so.

I always wanted Mercedes to be my waifu but got cockblocked by Quina, Aelinore and... Mason!
Last time I was so sure to finally make it, even filled the wench up with Cloudwineas much as possible. But in my complacency I became foolish and commited the ultimate sin... rescuing Aelinore. I know, I know, who in his right mind would do such a thing?
But it happened and thanks to the above mentioned mechanic and only one savegame, Aelinore cockblocked me a second time! I ragequit and uninstalled, naturally.

Still, one day I shall come back and bring even more Cloudwine and won't get myself disctracted by minor things like world endings or damsels in distress. I shall conquer Mercedes' skinny ass, yet! :argh:

Fair enough. Though grinding online Ur was the line for me when I simply decided to quit. Game stopped being interesting at this point.

And got dragonforget random pants that I forgot to change for better. Bleh.
Dragonforging weapons and armor, though quite useful, is only essential when you're clearing Bitterblack Isle, and there you'll meet a new enemy in the second of the three main sections with a 75% chance of dragonforging weapons/armor with 3-star enhancements (declining to 65% for 2-star, 55% for 1-star, and 40% for no enhancement). BBI also offers a way of improving weapons & armor even further past Dragonforged, but again this is only something that you'll need when you get deep into BBI. Though it should be noted that all weapons & armor you have equipped will become Dragonforged when you
defeat the Dragon, though at this time you also receive a more powerful weapon of whatever type you have equipped, so the weapon becoming dragonforged is largely redundant.

Man, I got Madeleine for some reason as some sort of a one night victory stand, without knowing this game even has 'romances' in it. It's pretty funny because I'm pretty sure I did not do any sort of romancing up to that point, but then the game is japanese so I guess it's supposed to be crazy weird in this department. Also back in the village, at my house I have that handicapped witch little girl too. What's up with that?

Strap Yourselves In Serpent in the Staglands Shadorwun: Hong Kong Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
Once you do the witch girl's quest, she shacks up with you because villagers want to give her The Emprah's judgement etc. I did that and she waifu'd. Now I have to put up with Mercedes till such time I find that villager girl. Or some other remotely wouldable chick.

The funny thing is that the game doesn't set your Beloved even after the Dragon fight. One completionist game I got Aelinore and killed Grigori. Then I spoke to Quina in the Abbey and went through the post game dungeon. The final cutscene showed me Quina instead of Aelinore.

At the final battle, died one at that nuChimera encounter, just POOF! and I died from...something. Guess who's belowed? That's right, witch. Best counterpart for my female Ranger.
I know there is more (kick the shit out of that geezer on the throne and Dark Arisen content on Bitterblack, and NuGaem+) but I had enough after 50h.

:hahano: At a minimum, return to the castle at Gran Soren, where you'll be asked to report to the Duke, and watch what happens. You aren't finished yet, and you might like what you see.

A few characters will be raised to max affinity merely by completing their related quests (or even just part of their related quests), including Selene (the witch girl, with two quests), Madeleine (especially her final quest after she disappears from her shop), Mercedes (depending on the choice made at the end of her last related quest), Aelinore (she can be raised to max affinity merely by speaking with her repeatedly at the first opportunity, in the garden), and Quina (only the first two of three quests needed). These five are the only characters with unique dialogue
at the conclusion of the game.

Too late for that, I already lost steam after dragon (surprisingly easy fight except the moment, where you ride on his back and want to stab heart on the back, VERY slow climbing and one slash push you back, enjoy another minuter of climbing). Was surprised to see I spend 50h on the game, though it will be half of that.
Finale would be great if they didn't ruined it with "save/sacrifice beloved" crap.
Tried to test myself as a mage/sorcerer (some spells on videos looks amazing) but apparently there is only one slot for a game. Not gonna remove my ranger.:decline:
Dork Sulz and Monster Hunter have more than one slot ffs. And no save files to backup (exclusive for consoles with USB sticks).

Oh and I found that Instant Reset not only stop your combos but get you back on your feet, wish I know that earlier...

If you're playing on PS3 you can export a savegame to a USB stick and then save a copy on a computer. If you're playing on PC, you can directly copy the savegame file ddda.sav in your users folder --> AppData ---> Roaming ---> Steam --> Game directory.

Either way, you should keep playing with your Ranger character.

Playing it on and off with warrior this time, using dinput8.dll hooks to switch skill-sets (http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma/mods/96). Having two sets of skills, one for single-target (with Arc and Lash), one for AoE and moving about (Corona Slash and Lunge). Arc IS slow, but the damage it delivers on hit makes it worthwhile. Charge it up, pull Manticore, hit it in the head when it runs up to you = creature is almost dead (sometimes only lion head survives). Same with dragons, hit the heart a bit, when it starts squirming around on the floor — hit the heart with the Arc, boom, couple of dots are gone.
Switching set with that mod takes a bit of time, so it's not for on-the-fly during-the-combo switching, but it makes playing with Warrior a lot more enjoyable than otherwise. Finished off main-story dragon, got to "post-game" (with dires on the map), now prolly will go for DLC island.
Of course that mod also comes with other options and cheats, but i only occasionally used jump mod to take a shortcut.

I never played the original (i.e. pre-Dark Arisen) version, but apparently it increased your affinity with NPCs by a small amount merely for talking with them, which made it easy to accidentally receive one of the merchants as your "Beloved", including Fournival.

I got Fournival as my beloved on my PC playthrough. Turns out saving him from hanging actually makes him want to give you a hummer. As convenient as it is having him sell you shit at your house 24/7, my ending was essentially the intro to a 70's gay porn. NOT worth it.

You just have to make sure to talk to someone else whose affection is maxed (where you see the little pink blush and hear the slight ringing noise) before entering the mountain to ensure your beloved of choice.
