I'm getting flashbacks to this old ass article. 9 games that are the Dark Souls of their genre: Dragon's Dogma – The Dark Souls of fantasy RPGs.

"In Dragon's Dogma 2, a large amount of CPU usage is allocated to each character and dynamically calculates the impact of their physical presence in various environments. In certain situations where numerous characters appear simultaneously, the CPU usage can be very high and may affect the frame rate," a Capcom representative told IGN. "We are aware that in such situations, settings that reduce GPU load may currently have a limited effect; however, we are looking into ways to improve performance in the future."

Hidden NPC calculations!
Ova status. Fertility NPC rate. Semen count. It all makes sense now. Japanese devs truly learning from the best (Skyrim mods!).

Waited two years for Elden Ring. Should have waited longer. Dragon's Dogma 2's price will definitely drop way faster, though. Couldn't even create a decent protagonist and pawn with the crappy options, so not excited anyway.
LOL, if character creation was that important then Elden Ring would have sold about five copies total and dropped to $1 on release day.

Don't forget the fingerless glove simulations.

I built a new PC recently, so playing this won't be a problem, but it's still annoying that this is game is so CPU intensive even though it has no right to be. It'd be really good if it was just Denuvo throttling it, rather than dev ineptitude.

Uhh I'm getting a bit tired of doomposting at this point, but I feel obligated to remind the people posting this that the leaks/reviews are reporting 20fps in combat on the ps5 version. You are not escaping shit performance by going with console, you're just robbing yourself of any possibility of it being fixed in the future.
Yeah this. Worst case scenario frame generation mods take a couple days like the ones that exist for Skyrim and Red Dead 2. DLSS-FG dll files are confirmed to be in the install.

This is a short term problem at best for PC.
Frame generation does not work well at sub 60fps. It creates immense input lag.

Thanks for:d1p:, beta testers. I'll pick this up for 10 bucks in 3 years with all the fixes and DLC.
Nobody ever brings up the downsides of this strategy. You're saving money and playing the best version of the game yes, but you miss out on all the social elements.

Sharing great moments with other folks playing the game, discoveries, tricks, etc. You will never experience those moments because by the time you've begun playing everybody else will have moved on and you will be completely alone. No one will be there to share your experience with.
Yes, I play single player games for a reason.

And if I really need to share my experiences, I've got the Codex. Someone here is always playing the game, no matter how old.
Makes me think back to playing games like Dark Souls and Bloodborne at launch and how amazing it felt to interact with others going through the same stuff. Those games wouldn't have been quite as special without those moments. I guess what I'm getting at is you're walking the path of lonliness and emptiness my friend. Eventually you will die alone and scared, and all that money you saved will mean nothing.
We'll all die alone and scared. At least I'll leave more money to my kid, instead of giving it to some Japanese devs.

Gooks can't into PC ports anymore than they can into not raping.

The funny thing is I think that Capcom actually made some decent PC versions of the Resident Evil games in the recent past - I wouldn't know how good exactly since I'm not interested in them and haven't played them.

But hey, at least Sony knows they're better off having someone else do the porting of their former exclusives to PC, so far Nixxes seems to have done a good job.

Honestly, after around 10 years for me, I'm really not that bothered about revisiting old enemies. They'll feel fairly fresh after that time.

Abd that's my point with the difficulty. Most of the reviewers won't be playing it on Harder settings to judge it in it's fullest context. They never do.

Pretty sure this game uses "adaptive difficulty". So the game gets easier the worse you play.

There's no difficulty options. It uses adaptive difficulty.

Also there's no way to delete save files or start a new character apparently.
Damn, that's wank.

Bad move Capcom, bad move,

I remember having to make separate copies and replace save files by hand in DD1 to play with more than 1 character.
Is it the same in DD2 or is your character stored on their servers?

I'm seeing a mixture of [Citation Needed]
The citation is watch gameplay footage
What does expanded grappling mechanic mean?
You can now push and pull enemies, plus there's moves that ingrate grapples (like seen here)
Or what do you mean by more enemy behavior and what ways does that improve the gameplay for me?
:hmmm:

I think it's self-explanatory...
Foes with low health can be dealt a killing blow when they are at low health is just a trendy mechanic in modern gaming.
When an enemy's HP reaches a certain threshold, you now get the chance to dispatch them at once but by performing an attacks that leaves you quite exposed
It's an addicitional risk/reward consideration for the combat, therefore a good addition
And such mechanics have existed since PS1 era at least
Will there also be an awesome animation of me killing the enemy each time I trigger it? I hate those.
Sounds like a you problem
More skills sounds good but as I already heard the magic dagger skills were removed from the MA and all I've seen in the gameplay vids are the same spells I was able to use in DD1 so everything I've seen is contrary to the claim that there are more skills in the game. I need something more concrete than "trust me bro it's gonna be awesome".
From all I've seen the Figther and Warrior vocations have an expanded range of combat moves, so I'm good :smug:
