Yep. INCREDIBLE looking game. Screenshots, even though yours looks pretty sick, don't do the game justice.
Only thing that looks awful is sea.

I mean the game is basically worse than any EA game, and yes I mean it WORSE.

It's a complete scam: Microtransactions on saves on a fucking SOLO game, Microtransactions on skins, Microtransactions on basic features locked behind a paywall, horrible performances forcing to buy a new video card (partnership with Nvidia and AMD of course it's made on purpose), terrible exploration (game is swarmed with enemies every 5 minutes.

It's a fucking scandal, and anyone giving money to these bandits is a class A retard.

Don't buy it, pirate it if you want to play it.

I must say that after initial buttpain when it comes to performance and how ugly parts of first area looks like graphics in this game started to grow on me, especially with raytracing. Game is incredibly heavy and for some reason assets its uses are all "muddy looking" but if you get close to them they are in fact high quality.

Then there is the lighting. With proper GI especially second kingdom looks just stunning at times. HDR implementation is also one of the best i have ever seen so far. Usually you don't "see" it but when you see direct sunlight hit rocks you can "feel" how hot sun is with HDR. Couple that with proper volumetric lighting and voila:

image.png

Performance wise I use DLSS3 to FSR frame gen mod and puredark DLSS3 mod and i get around 80 frames in cities (though with stutter) and locked 100fps outside of cities at 4k. Without those two mods only 30-40 in cities and 70ish outside.
Agreed, japanese games have this thing with looking like absolute shit in certain places but then they look absolutely gorgeous in others, FF7 Rebirth looks fantastic most of the time but there's spots where there's assets worse than you would see in a PS1 game.

ALL recent Capcom games had this MTX nonsense, people just picked DG2 to be the latest hate train because it's not that popular and there's other issues to it besides the mtx so the criticisms snowballed from there.

EA got completely shat upon for introducing MTX in solo games, but apparently Capcom gets a free pass. No, it's unacceptable, they deserve the same backlash, if not worse for taxing a full price +10 dollars (for reasons?) + horrible performances on release and locked content that should have been in the game for free.

No such thing as microtransactions on saves and all the stuff right now is unlockable in game. They're probably going to introduce weapon/armor microtransactions too, though.

(although most of these can be obtained in game, nothing indicates that the content that will be added into the game, will be obtainable in game AND there is DENUVO)

That is ugly. But after 20 hours I have seen nothing in-game about mtx.

So it is as unintrusive as it gets, as long as you are not engaging in drama in forums.

This thing kept popping up on YouTube and it looked cool, so I clicked some videos... Okay, so you're telling me that this single-player RPG has:
- two DRM solutions, Denuvo and Enigma, not just for copy protection but also against modding/cheating/save editing?
- microtransactions out the asshole?
- a mandatory single-save system?
- an always-online requirement to get more than one companion?

Wooooow...

Suck my dick!

The quotes

Source

No hard evidence for SAM since he would need to admit using it but he had achievements that were bugged on Wartales, Atomic Hearts and other games.

Source

His steam profile is also pretty shady. He completed a dozen story related achievements on The Witcher 3 at the same time. Even if he played the game offline he already had the 'finish the game' achiev before unlocking the others. Etc

I don't want to derail this thread further, so this will be my last post about this bit. I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt after browsing his achievements and timings.

For instance, the Wrath of the Righteous path unlocks, I think he save scums them to get all the unlocks in clusters which makes it look weird from an organic gameplay perspective but would serve you well if you're trying to do it for your channel's gimmick while also seeing a variety of content as quickly as possible.

I also know that in more recent videos (don't recall which ones), there are times he explicitly mentions how certain achievements are bugged and were unable to be achieved. I wouldn't be surprised if earlier on, he got most of them and if some were bugging out, he used SAM or something similar and then after the backlash, simply stopped doing that and instead pointed out why he didn't have exactly 100% since then.

Other than that, most of his play times seem reasonable and I seriously doubt that he used a program to unlock Wrath achievements over three months at random times to "100%" and then again for each DLC it while also letting it idle for around 600 hours.

I think he really does just have issues because of his past as he's alluded to on his channel and basically is a gaming only shut in trying to get by. Also if you play a game less as a means of entertainment and more to try and push out every achievement you can in as short a time as possible while also completing a game for a review commentary, it's not going to take you anywhere near as long as someone like me who plays for the experience (and comparing any of my game times to something like howlongtobeat.com invariably ends up in times that are at least double anything on there for comparable results).

66 hours to 100% DD2 wouldn't surprise me since there's no expansion, DD1 isn't hard or long to 100% either and is likely legit.

Wilhelmina is half cat person. Any mod puts spoilers I'll beat their fuckin ass. It needs to be known to non-perverts. Wilhelmina is a cat person. The game hides it. This is a new form of rape. No different than a tranny tricking a straight guy. BOOM BOOM is all I got to say. Treat them like demons.
Does she have a tail or body fur? I don't see any cat ears on her.

The only thing I found weird looking at his achievements earlier was that an hour after buying his first house he finished all the sphinx puzzles. I would say he just uses guides and blasts through stuff but DD2 wiki’s are still very lacking at this moment. From the videos I have seen of his he seems pretty on point and knowledgeable but who knows.

Also I must he very unobservant; I have like 14 sneeder’s tokens after 24 hours of play.. I saw he quickly got the 80 or whatever amount one.

You can have 4 pawns when you play offline, just not player-made ones (aside from your own, single one). If you're playing on PC, there's a save file manager already if you want a less restrictive saving system.

The problem is that it's not cracked yet, so people are buying it anyway.

TBH, I think the blowback they've received and the lost sales from negative reviews is enough of a punishment for the microtransactions. It's more than Paradox has received for their far more scummy practices that wind up breaking both their games and mods with all their useless DLC.

But the bigger reason to hold off on purchasing is the bugs. Until they fix the PC version, no one should buy it.

I thought this was interesting. https://game8.co/games/Dragons-Dogma-2/archives/447615

Apparently the stat growth is a hybrid. In DD1, your stat growth was determined entirely by what vocations you levelled up in, whereas this article says that for DD2, your base stats change based on your vocation and level, but there's a portion of stat growth that's related to what vocation you have when levelling up that will remain static. So you can still shape your characters' "emphasis" or their overall stat pattern, but won't be completely gimped if you wanted to try playing a sorcerer after spending the entire game as a fighter, for instance.

The people dunking on the game seem to do it out of bad faith or are going off half-true things they have heard; there are many real criticisms to make and it just muddies the waters. Complaining about mtx cheat-codes should not be the main talking point.

A good move for any skeptic is to wait a few years for a cheap definitive edition with all content/fixes minus denuvo, and see what the general consensus is then. When all you want to find are problems you’ll find any reason not to enjoy something. If I was fabulously optimistic I’d say this will hopefully shake up Capcom’s scummy business practices a little. This game definitely needed another financial quarter in the oven.

This game has been a huge disappointment for me. The first 10 hours were awesome.

Then I realized I saw everything. The main quest sucks. The side content is boring. By the time I hit 10 hrs I only had a few more enemy types I hadn’t discovered yet. By then the game was way too easy.

Exploration was fun until I realized that every dark tunnel I went into just gave me a chest full of dried fruit and 1000g. Whoop dee fuckin doo. There is some unique gear to be found but it’s very rare.

They also needed to change how gear works. With linear upgrades in gear, everything I looted was worse than what I already was wearing. Going the souls route, discovering weapons with unique move sets that could be upgraded, I think would have been far better even if it’s totally different than DD1. DD1 also had this problem with gear.

This really killed my drive to wander from the beaten path.

The biggest sadness of all, though, was that they did not make use of the emergent gameplay systems nearly enough. When those moments did happen, it was great, but there should have been more. Imagine regular goblin raids on villages, having to go save quest givers that were captured by griffons, etc. The morgue system is cool but it should have been a way bigger part of the game - setting things straight after the world ruins your plans.

The combat, of course, is fantastic, but it’s dragged down by everything else.

I think this is probably salvageable with overhaul mods on PC and a dark arisen-style DLC should it eventually come, but this game was really just one big wet fart that happened to also have cat people in it. Yiff in hell furfags.

If that's the case, then it's doing a pretty terrible job
The REFramework and Fluffy Manager were updated to include the game pretty quickly and so far there's been no report of trouble
Also I can see this game becoming the most modded Capcom game ever - the REngine is their easiest engine so far when it comes to modding ; the REFramework has a pretty well polished Lua scripting environment, SDK, and gameobject explorer, plus the community has nearly 5 years worth of experience with it

In fact, people have already begun to turn DD2 into yet another rollslop game:

microtransactions out the asshole?
they don't appear anywhere inside the actual game and they don't provide anything that you can't get by playing, they're just there for lazy retards
still, it is shit

a mandatory single-save system?
just like the first game

an always-online requirement to get more than one companion?
nope, you can have the 2 support pawns in single-player, but they will be randomly generated and not other player's pawns

Not a very complex "mod". It just takes the Theif's dodge and lets a Fighter use it. Isn't the Wayfarer vocation supposed to let you do this anyway (combine skills from various classes)?

The game is already pretty easy when you aren’t being punished by low stamina/knock-downs. Just wear what you think looks cool. I do appreciate that equipment is more sparse; it’s been awhile but I remember a large part of the first game I was constantly trading up and sinking money into equipment that was only a teensy bit better but mechanically the same thing.
