50 hours and counting. I love the game.

And a new update is here:

Extra save slot is awesome. Adjusting the difficulty should be their next biggest priority. Fuck the performance shit, game runs good enough for me. I want a higher difficulty setting.

They didn't add extra save slot. Just ability to overwrite old save. Previously without mods or deleting manually save file from disc you couldn't start new game.

Just fought my first drake, fight went ok, drake was giving us some beatings and his heart disappeared once but still one healthbar went out in a decent pace.
Then one of his legs slipped up and he fell into the river...
No loot
No dragonforging
:(

Also can we still get those rings that increased our ability levels like in DDDA?

I cant believe they fucked up the story.....again

What's with people saying story is fucked up ? It was pretty straightforward to follow and imho good enough.
it's just another half finished schizophrenic mess like the first game.

Why ? There isn't anything missing in this story from what i see.
it just feels sloppy and its barely an improvement over the first games story

Doing second playtrough with only my pawn and no healing during combat. Yeah, if you felt like game is to easy then try it this way. Died so many times i lost count. Pawn is for now fighter and i play as thief. Actually using shadow step to get that early backstab kill is valid tactic as goblins can easily gankup on you easily.

Obviously there is one step above that aka solo.

This defeats the purpose of the game and ruins alot of the fun. One shouldn't need to resort to such stupid shit. Capcom just needs to make the game harder.

It doesn't take away anything from the game. It just changes how it is played.
With 4 people party you have a lot of spamming. With 2-3 people party there is much more tactics involved.

Solo is for chads though.

If they removed the menu healing , this game would have been much much harder. When big enemies go into Rage mode, things can get out of handle FAST

Soooo...I still haven't finished it after 65+ hours

My favourite quest so far was

Isaac Hayes who owns a shop in Bakkalattikiakiaakki
He wanted some books with forbidden knowledge to help with his business or whatever, even tho' his wife and daughter were perfectly happy as things were.
Obviously I knew things wouldn't end well, but loot was in the offing so I retrieved the books.

His wife and daughter once again told him not to read the evil books
He read the evil books
I must admit I was expecting a monster attack or some such shenanigans..certainly not this..

Why his wife and daughter were suddenly turned into sand statues I'm not entirely sure...
Anyway, after I stopped laughing I offered to help him clean them up off the floor

..but he just stood there looking confused and later when I passed by again, his shop was closed for business.
I'm assuming he's hanging from a rope in a back room

Oracscube I haven't bought it yet because I don't trust the opinions of heathens. However, I do value yours. Should I buy DD2 right now, as an unqualified fan of the first one?

I'm only using my pawn now and sometimes I brine her and don't use any, it's very enjoyable going solo.
Sorcerer is a bit op tho', inaugural flare kills almost anything quickly (except for golems and they can be wiped out with High Seism) so I've been using the archer and fighter.
Although archer is also op if you use spiral and explosive arrows..in fact all classes can be op if used correctly.
Basically be careful and don't get stun locked

If you have no money issues I'd say yes.
Just be aware performance is a bit ropey at the moment unless you have a mega PC.
I enjoy it just as much if not more than DD1 which I had just played through again before getting this sequel.

Level 31 and Drakes + the camera while fighting them still feel impossible to me.. As a warrior I'm constantly out of stamina/dazed/knocked-down/fried since I'm so close; while my 2 pawns stand in every aoe. I could do it at the cost of my inventory, but I'll have to come back to this!

Have you backed out your camera distance? I set mine to max and it's a lot better, but the default is fairly stupidly close.

Get a pawn with Celestial Paean. I can hook you up if you can't find one

Finished the game, ~70 hours, did almost every side quests, true ending and all.

Playing almost non stop since release, trying to ignore all the MTX/performance debacle and internet discourse, I just wanted to play the game and form my own opinion. At first, I was awestruck simply because I was finally playing the sequel to the best ARPG ever after waiting for 6+ years. Then, around 20 hours in, I was dissapointed, because DD2 is DD 1.5. It's the same game. Same story, same writing, same enemies, same NPC interactions. But I could not stop playing, and was still loving it, because I was experiencing the same joy I felt when playing DD:DA the first time. Avoiding travelling in the dark, getting lost exploring some random ass cave, encountering funny pawns on the road. All that with even better combat.

Plenty of people have already explained the big problems this game has. For me, the biggest sins are the dumbing down of the armor system, lack of enemy variety (and fixed spawn points in the map), and no improvements to NPC interactions. I don't care too much about missing vocations, but I do miss some sorcerer skills tho. Everything else is a trade-off, equal, or better than DD:DA.
Now, there is one thing that this game does perfectly and will be unsurpassed for a long time. COMBAT. This game has the best combat in an action RPG ever. No competition comes close. DD2 shits all over Dark Souls/Elden Mid and every other game in existence.

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen is still better than Dragon's Dogma 2. The dissapointment comes from that. But hey, DD2 is still the 2nd best ARPG ever. Not bad. And with a BBI-like DLC that focus on the godlike combat, who knows.

Oh and I do love that Itsuno decided to retain those byzantine anti-normie systems like forced auto-saves and 1 save file per copy. It serves to filter the peasants from playing this. Games have gone to shit because we have not gatekeeped enough.

So anyway, gg. Here is my pawn, based on Zeta from Granblue Fantasy. Rent her. Give her some clear space and she will snipe any mob with a .50 cal. I'm working on grinding her NG+ equipment
