Finally, some teleportation (to Deep Caves). :mrpresident:

You can also teleport to Barca from Deep Cave entrance if he's alive. The "you shoudl talk to Bacra before venturing further" gives you a choice to be ported to him.

Very incline addition.

I finished rock bottom before the new patch, but is that 'barred door' with the miners working behind it ever unlocked? it was in the area with the first two fights of the game.

How large is your party? Although there are five enemies in that fight, they're split into a group of three and a group of two on opposite sides of your starting position. If you position and move your PCs correctly, you can concentrate your forces against one of the two groups. It's just a matter of finishing off 1 or 2 enemies as quickly as possible.

Position your high initiative guys on the back close to the alchemist and kill him asap. With your slow character (probably Marcus) step back and use liquid fire to keep the 3 guys including the boss on the other side of the door. If you have enough hp left after killing the mace guy on the back, Reinard and 2 douches shouldn't be hard with Marcus' high dodge. It is also useful to poison all three with ranged weapons before the liquid fire runs out.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
i i have the same 3 people team.

i put everyone on the furthest.

then block the doorway with liquid fire

send 2 melee fighters to deal with the the alchemist and swordsman

use my crossbowman + poison to slowly pick the 3 people on the other side of the firewall.

when the fire is gone, only 2 people remains with wounded and badly wounded status. finished them off easily

I think you get the liquid fire right before that fight, so I assumed it was intended as a tutorial for later on.

Thanks Ill try again. I got dodge on all and they keep getting hit real hard by the archer.
If no win I come for some advice here. Its pretty emotionally draining, I lost some battles literally 1HP vs 1 HP characters. Always gotta take a break when that happens.

Potent poison has some inconsistent descriptions (GOG version 1.0.1.41 [gog-4]):
AQP1XGk.png

Btw. does gog version 1.0.1.41 equals to build version 1.0.1.0039 (DR menu shows me this and I am sure I installed that 1.0.1.41 from GOG)?

Problem is that I fought in this fight yesterday - Marcus is slow and his turn comes next after Reinard's turn, and Heiron's turn too, so I was able to threw liquid fire vial (LFV) only with main character.

Finally won the final fight. Alchemy is super OP, even more than crafting. 11 dmg poison, 12-16 dmg bombs and fire vials -hell yeah, bring me more. Crafting has the second place after alchemy in usefulness -that +2ap armor bonus and -10 penalty is great.

I have a suggestion. There's one character in the game who really needs to be given a proper name and personality: the Maimed Prisoner who keeps dragging your stash box every time you move ahead in the mine. I love this guy. He's all, "Give 'em hell, Boss!"

Does archery seem extremely weak to anyone else? I picked up Ismail and gave him a nice bow and even with a 9 rating he has pathetic to-hit percentages against any target further away than a couple of squares. Meanwhile Roxana is sniping enemies with shields from 10 squares off...

Roxana is a strong "wymyn" with haxed stats. That's why she is so good with crossbow.

You get Ismail with most of his points in Sword, Dodge and Alchemy.

You sure 'bout that 9 rating in bow?

My main is an archer and very strong, good to hit chance, the best.

Restarted a couple of times, enjoying my first playthrough with Marcus/Cyrus then Marcus/Roxana, the main being swords/block. Want to beat the game before trying solo, my previous Dodge Duo of Marcus + Dagger/Dodge got as far as the massive tentacles before they could Dodge no more.

We knew it's a straight up dungeon crawler, basically a glorified arena, though it still shows that without noncombat aspects AOD's character system really becomes very boring. In any case, most of the fights seem well made and enjoyable. It could certainly do with deleting a couple of the filler monster fights, which will never be as fun as humans, but I don't think it's a huge deal.

Roxana definitely seems to gun things down, but having built Cyrus up to similar calibre before switching, he was finally starting to pull his weight as well. Seems like the earlier level threshold where crossbowers can start hitting home runs is pretty high.

He's also got bow points. You can choose either bow or sword for his primary. He's the only companion in the game who comes with bow points, actually.

He's pretty good with a Kemetian bow since he can fire one regular and one fast shot every turn. Later I had to give him something bigger and slower because the enemies have too much armor.

I just finished my first playthrough this evening. Thoroughly enjoyed it. No crashes or major bugs, just a few graphical glitches on the equipment screen when switching gear, but only during the combat placement phase. Chose to go with an 8 Charisma build with the rest of my stats about average which worked pretty well once I got 3 companions. Went with the Murderous Psycho setting on my first run because I'm a masochist and while I expected to die a lot (I did), I knew what to expect from AoD and things never really got frustrating other than 1 or 2 battles that I just ending up cheesing my way through. Great game. Congratulations VD!

The 3 killer constructs are the final battle really. I killed the crossbowmachinegun with 8 acidvials I've been hoarding before it could shoot. Its the only way!

All named NPCs are too vain for helmets... Bomb, 3 barbed bolts to the head, finito. I havent even seen what the "Emprah" can do, he dies too quickly...

The Fort fights were pure kur for me. 4 guys with 20 bombs, 10 fire vials, 15 neurostims, sharpy and poisony sky weapons, ahaha, you could do it naked, no armor. Feels good man, after suffering at the hands of ants!

Dont even need all the skill and stat points, final team:

With zero in D, every fight for me was at least one reload, you never know when the AI decides to target the main char...

I think the helmet progression needs to be rearranged. Murmillo helmet needs to appear significantly later.
I hit crafting 10 at the steel forge or slightly before it and should have been all iron murmillo already but wasnt out of larp reasons.

9 Cha follower is a bit shitty CnC really, needs a hint at char creation or something.

Need a way to force facing of the characters I move.

Finding 3! Three! iron arrows on the Bottom after fighting 5 ants is an insult...

There are some THC bugs with corners and diagonal shooting or throwing.

It seems to me that picking a weapons with the best passive bonus is the best option. Aside maybe from the early gaym short bow.
