The poem tells the tale of Dante who journeys through the twisted, menacing nine circles of hell in pursuit of his beloved Beatrice.
No.

The Feral Kid said:
"Dante accompanied by his only allies Virgil, a brash young outlaw who saved his life, and Beatrice, the beautiful warrior maiden promised to him since birth".

What if the game turns out to be a decent a-rpg romp, only based on this retarded premise? Drama will ensue! Some at the codex will say it's an OK game "provided you can ignore the Divine Comedy and judge it on its own merits, and judge it with regard to its a-rpg peers and not the poem itself", others will scream that standards have been lowered, and you shouldn't praise a game when you were expecting total shit and only got less shit...

Oh, wait.

So, how many of the development team would you put money on having actually read it?

I read a version of Dante's Inferno over multiple toilet sittings years ago. Fucking awkward wording made it overly complicated, was like reading the transcript for something translated to Russian translated to African translated to Latin translated to English.

Hey, what's so special about Divine Comedy, anyway?
Yea, it's supposed to be Classic, but so is Bible, and it sucks.
By modern standarts it's just kitsch fantasy.

Might have been a poor translation. I personally found it much easier going than many other classics I've tried.

What?
Human culture is doomed.

Wait, wait, wait... Am I the only one who noticed this?

"a Third-Person Action/Adventure adaptation of the medieval epic poem The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri"
...
Medieval?!

Though written during the medieval period, it's actually the poem of the early Renaissance, you cretins!

Treading water, but at least it's warm
eh, could be interesting - we'll see what tale the screenshots tell. expect it to be more inspired by the poem than anything else, because actually trying to do more will indeed result in great fail.

Heck
:D Nice comic.

I'm guessing players probably aren't even going to be getting Cliffs notes level Dante's Inferno out of the game but they'll come away feeling like they know all about it. Perhaps they will have a conversation similar to the one a couple of prisoners were having in Butcher Bay:

"Sigmen Floyd man. He was this psycho professor from a long time ago, or whatever....and he had this idea that all guys wanna screw their mom or something like that and...Also he discovered the mind and.. other stuff... like cereberal stuff."

Good God.

OMFGWTFBBQ...

I haven't even read that book and that trailer still offends me.

Remember. You can't put too much vapid commercialism into classical literature.

The part when he kills that Gollum with a cross shocked me. I didn't expect it to be that bad.
I'm just wondering, how are they going to overuse bloom if the action is set in hell ?
