EA/Mythic Entertainment mount Ultima's corpse so they can kill it again

This doesn't seem very Ultima'ish. Where's the interface? I want to see the interface!

That last screenshot taxalot posted doesn't seem TOO bad. I mean it's somewhat grid-like, at least.

But... nah.

The art is fine.... for the type of game they are making.
It's pretty funny. I'm watching an interview with Paul Barnett (media section http://mythicentertainment.com/game-u4e.php ).
I actually remember signing up for the beta test now. Never got an invite though. Or maybe it was some other Ultima revival thing.

Anyway, what I thought was funny was this bit from the interview:

"What do you think is the biggest myth that you guys need to dispell about Ultima Forever?"

Here's the answer:

"That it's a crappy facebook game with energy rubbish and that we're trying to gauge money off people just for blinking." He then goes on to explain why this is not the case.

But the problem here is that the game gives a full impression of being a "crappy facebook game". Not because of the content (I wouldn't know), but because of the visuals and presentation. This game looks like Farmville Social Online 3: Let's Make Friends.
"Play as the Fighter or the Mage" -- that's how you present the character choices? That screams "facebook casual bullshit, pick up and play 5 minutes right now!" Besides couldn't you be a class for every virtue in Ultima 4?

Fuck. This interview. "The iPad is basically the console for the millennial generation, right?". Ultima was a computer game -- the computer hasn't gone anywhere! It's bigger than ever!

EA and Zynga stole everything about the electronic RPG formula that sells to more than a few million people out of the billions. Your elevation of your own favored genre caused this, Codex! Are you happy now? ARE YOU?!!?

Grab the Codex by the pussy Divinity: Original Sin Torment: Tides of Numenera Shadorwun: Hong Kong Pathfinder: Kingmaker Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture
The zeppelins, oversized armor and thrones with skulls makes me think that the developers were more influenced by World of Warcraft than by Ultima. If you didn't tell me this was an Ultima game, I would have thought it was a Warcraft game or clone from the screenshots. I also concur with the Magicka influence noted by another poster. Nothing about the art screams Ultima to me.

I'm playing Sword And Sorcery Underworld GOLD which thankfully is restoring my cRPG Sanity. Will post more once the NDA is lifted. Because THE GREAT EARTH SERPENT IS VERY VERY FUCKING ANGRY.
