Seeing that it's a pixel art game that has been in production for at least 6 years, I'd say it's as dead as a doornail.
This always makes me think of Eiter (German for pus). Not the best connotation.

Eitr's Steam listing has been made private as it is under heavy development and not ready to be advertised, you can still find the listing here:

Maybe they should rename it, start a new Kickstarter and ask for 100k, and string people along with a slew of excuses for five years until disappearing into the ether again?
