I wanted to try my best to make a tank build, I thought maybe I could do it if I minmaxed hard enough. I got 133 poise and 82% physical damage reduction, I was poiseing through Morgotts attacks, I felt confident that maybe it was possible to tank through the game (albeit only on ng+) I was wrong, Malenia killed my dreams. Maliketh broke my mind. It was pretty good though, even if I still had to roll out of attacks like a dweeb the damage reduction was quite helpful. Poise seems to work like it does in DS1 but heavily nerfed, with 133 poise I was usually able to poise through 2 attacks in a row before getting staggered, although some boss attacks would always stagger me since they simply did too much poise damage.
Just reached Haligtree area. Holy Javelin, Stinger and NLAWs is the level of verticality insane but the bullshit is there as well. It tones down a bit once you reach the city. Oh the city......damn.
BTW, Unseen Form is very good to stealth your way past some bullshit. Lots of room for creativity, cheese and all the good stuff.
If it really isn't in your inventory that's a bug. Rennala's great rune can't be activated, but unactivated great runes still do show up in your inventory, the person that said they don't is incorrect.

These Demi Human Ashes are pretty good. My first try fighting Godrick I am dead pretty much right after his second phase starts. My second attempt I decide to try these ashes and.. no more attempts needed. Damn.
I just beat that dude today and you can roll from his lighting attack. I only did it once or twice. To beat him I just poked him with my lance I only really evaded when my stamina was low or he did the aoe lighting attack.
I think the single lightning has a pretty narrow window for rolling. You could try blood hound steps if you are having a hard time.
But it has a logic, no? I mean, all M starting names are sons/daughters from queen Marika, all G starting names are from Godrick, while all R starting people names com from Radagon.

I've tried to help people killing Loretta - the most useless boss ever - and they still die like dipshits ... which makes me wonder how the hell did they reached Haligtree on their own!?
Unfortunately the answer is pretty obvious: they were carried by other players. And I don't know how to feel about it.
Maybe they had a toddler walk into the room and unplug their controller. Maybe their cat climbed up the wall and flew off the ceiling fan. Maybe they got swatted and were suddenly shot due to protecting freedom. Maybe they just had a bad day bro give me break I am doing my best.
Also define carried by other players. Is playing with a friend because you just like being friendly being carried or is it just fun and why they made Elden Ring because you faggy Souls dudes are fucking retarded?
Has anybody found a way to dodge Malenia's flurry attack when you are close to her? I know you can dodge it if you keep a certain distance from her when she does it.
Run away from her to dodge the first attack, just as she is about to jump to do the second one, roll towards her, and then just walk back and right to dodge the third one
The problem, it seems to me, is that if you are close to her when she jumps on the air and starts winding up her attack, you won't be able to dodge it and, at most, the only thing you can do is to roll and try to minimize the number of hits you receive. I was playing the whole game with greatsword and no shield and had to use one for that attack alone, otherwise I had to play very passively, which was a disservice in what is otherwise one of the best fight of the game so far imo. After defeating her I searched on the web if someone had found a way to dodge it up close but haven't found any so maybe someone on this thread more skilled than me had figured it out.
I sincerely feel the flurry attack is a poorly though out attack in which is otherwise a great fight. Malena's moveset is fantastic, she is able to chain quite a lot of attacks but the animations for all then are easy to read and clear, which means if you get hit, is your fault, yet she still keeps you on your toes as she can chain any of her moves. She, is so far, the only boss (not counting minibosses) I had seen that recoils if she gets hit while doing a move without hyper armor, which is absolutely great, as it incentivizes the player to go in the offensive and try to search blind spots to attack. For example, you can jump over some of her attacks to land an attack of your own on her and interrupt her combos. The health recovery mechanic is there so players cannot just shield every attack, as she recovers health per hit even if you block (unless I'm wrong, I though she did but I'm not 100% sure), so you need to actually learn her attack patterns and know how to dodge them. But the fact that you cannot dodge the first part of the Flurry if you are too close, and that she can chain that attack at any moment depending on the RNG, means that, even if you are fighting well and being very aggressive, sometimes you will be fucked due to bad luck, and instead encourages you to use hit-and-run tactics, which goes against the otherwise great design of the fight. Of course with a decent medium shield and moderate use of the Barricade Shield AoW or a Greatshield, that isn't a problem, you can block the first set and dodge the other two to avoid her recovering too much health, but it seems like a shame that, if you don't use shield, you have to constantly run away from her after a few hits, instead of being able to keep the pressure if you are skilled enough.
One solution to this would be simply to make the first part of the flurry as short as the second part, so you could roll through it, but need to time it well if you are close, just as the second one requires timing which is tighter than the usual attack. Regardless, I consider this to be probably one of the best fight in the game and sincerely hope that the only reason I couldn't dodge in that situation was only because I hadn't figured it out yet.
