ELEX ELEX RELEASE THREAD

Main criticism so far: I really want to know if killing things speeds up with time.
I was playing on Ultra, but i can't stand to fight a dumb critter 5 minutes to get 10 exp while in the same i can make two quests with 200 exp.
Or doesn't PB want me to explore yet and i should make more quests? Questions...

You can certainly beat on monsters forever to try to level up, but the PB way has always been quest and explore first, fight things later.

Yeah, but cmon in this time i played (4 hours) you could kill bloodflies or scavengers in both Gothics.
Also 10 xp. That's ridicolous. That's 5 meatbug things in this world for something than can kill you.

Well, the game is out, and the steam reviews are mostly positive. I think it has to do a lot with the game not having too much hype and being purchased by old time fans.

Make the Codex Great Again! Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. I helped put crap in Monomyth
combat is janky but fine, not nearly as bad as people made it out to be... the only issue I have with it is how fast stamina goes down.. what's the best way to alleviate that problem??

Try lowering the difficulty to "Difficult" then, or play with the multiple difficulty options within Ultra.

Doesn't make a difference as fighting doesn't pay off yet.
But when it does it will be great like always.

I started on Difficult, should I switch to Ultra? I didn't realize there were multiple options within it

I've just been playing around with the higher difficulty settings, getting it as close to Gothic II/ Gothic III/ Risen challenge as I can. Feeling pretty close on Ultra, with combat difficulty at "Difficult".

Oh god, the download is slow :argh:

I want my fucking Elex!

Any character customization options btw? Or you are just playing a predefined character, like Me back in Gothic? Also, ranged combat looks fun, but how fun is it to play?

What's the UI thing in the lower left corner with vertical bar in the middle of the horizontal bar? It fills up when i swing weapon, but it's not stamina that's in the upper left corner, near the health bar. So what is it?

So is the combat janky but good, or janky but you have to bear with it because Gothic nostalgia? Do I pull the trigger on this release because it's 11/10 or wait for sale?

Combo bar. If it is half full you can make a strong attack using Q.

I personally like the combat just fine. The combo system is decent, and managing your stamina along with it is pretty challenging in the beginning. I'm talking about melee exclusively right now. But I also have a big soft spot for Jank, so take it as you will.

Nice, but not nice that it wasn't explained in tutorial. I've seen that Q is for "special attacks" but never tried it on enemies[my bar never go even half full, because enemy would hit me before that on ultra diff].

It's "wait for enemy to try to attack->roll on the side->hit once, rinse and repeat 30-50 times on ultra difficulty"

Ah so it's budget Witcher 3 "remap the dodge buttons from shitty keyboard buttons to Mouse 5 and have a rollicking time" gameplay. GOOD FOR WHAT IT IS BRING ON THE GOTHIC

it's explained.. it was for me when we were attacked by 2-3 creatures near the first teleporter you come across.

Well you can also parry or try to outpace enemies/stagger them by attacking nonstop, until your stamina runs out, and then roll out. But its risky. I had to hit first tutorial turkey like 20 times before he went down, all while he needed 3-4 hits to kill me.

Well it's PB after all. Maybe if you have 10 more damage suddenly everything will die.

Well yeah, just like in Witcher you could invest 100 hours learning how to parry every enemy type at the exact time or you can spacebar/quick attack your way through 200h. Parrying is the feelsgood2bepro factor when you go for the second playthrough on hardest difficulty and really learn the mechanics.
