So, the Race to Elite is finished. Congrats to the winners.

...

And guess what, nobody died. How is this possible Mortmal, you said it was inevitable. :smug:
I have no idea what this is but the guy who won for Trade has put in 1,046 hours of playtime.

To put that into perspective that's over 43 and a half days played without a single break.

If we assume 8 hours for sleep / meals / bathroom leaving 16 hours a day to play that's just over 58 days played.

Or, put yet another way 'cause this is fun since the game's release on December 16th this person has put in over 11 hours a day for the past 94 days - assuming that these stats are from the release date. That's scary.

At least Onepercent got 10k pounds (just shy of 15,000 USD) for putting in ~10 hours a day for three months.

What was that contest about? The video didn't explain the contest or its rules.

Onepercent commented on that he played 12-16 hours a day. Yes, that's pretty insane.

The contest was simple. Who reaches the Elite explorer/trader/combat rank first wins.

Or...gasp...an invested gamer. But let's just assume the worst about people.
I think in this case cheating would be ethically preferrable to someone having actually spent most of their waking time playing a meaningless virtual rat race for 100 days.

I remember not backing Elite for its lack of features, but keeping it in mind as a fallback in case SC failed or got delayed.
Didnt work out at all.

The only clear winner so far is Chris Roberts himself.

So far i only feel like a clear loser pledging for both.

All of those trailers on their Steam page are way more exciting than anything in the game itself. :D :) :(

*Looks at Star Citizen*

I dont think so Tim ...

At least you can play this. As opposed to Training Level and Race Track forever.

Still, wait for the price drop. I wouldn't try it out until the first big content expansion. The game just needs more meat.

They are now selling it through steam, eh?
The circle is now complete.

Almost, soon xbox live and playstation store, the game really deserves it.
We did see controllers being used in the kickstarter videos. It doesn't get more transparent than that, in this industry.
There's no point. People forget too easily. Sometimes I feel as though they want to feel both vindicated and dissatisfied.

PowerPlay deets

http://us2.campaign-archive2.com/?u=dcbf6b86b4b0c7d1c21b73b1e&id=b0a8ebba0b

  • When Powerplay launches, you'll be able to ally yourself with any one of a number of galactic Powers, earning valuable perks, reputation bonuses and credits for your allegiance.

  • Combat-focused players may choose to side with warlike Powers for combat missions and perks, while trade-focused players may prefer to side with a Power looking to expand their trade monopoly.

  • All week long players can perform actions to undermine enemy control over systems, fortify your territory against rivals attempting to undermine you, or prepare unoccupied systems for conquest. Systems prepared for takeover will become zones where duelling Powers can attempt to expand their borders.

  • You can always be a trader or a miner or a pirate for your own ends, but by joining a Power you'll be afforded special rights and be rewarded for playing the way you already like to play.

  • Achieving a high rank affords you more votes and more control over the Power's actions each week. The most valued pilots will have a lot of say in where their Power goes next.

  • By joining a Power that supports your play style you'll get better deals, cheaper repair costs, reduced fines, increased values for exploration data and more

  • The initial selection of factions will rise to a maximum of twenty as players provide assistance to minor local forces; as those forces establish a foothold across a handful of systems, they may rise to become Powers in their own right.

  • "...you'll have license to attack anyone from a rival power in your own territory without incurring a bounty"
