Let it be a lesson. This had popamole and MMO written all over it from the very beginning.
The we are doing a multiplayer game but also singleplayer sounded weird. I dont remember a single instance where this ever worked.
That's why I didnt even bother to follow the development.
Also, why is this still in Sims & City builder, belongs in the MMO section

There is plenty of reason to fly larger ships, including the Asp, but you would know that if you actually played the game.

What can you do with an asp you cant already do with a cobra ? Larger ships provide more cargo hold, you do the same thing as ever and barely more profitable. Missions arent even scaling to them.

No, but missions are easier to run. It's also a lot easier to mix thermal with ballistic weapons on the Asp because it has a much tighter hardpoint grouping than the cobra. That also makes it a viable platform for an all-multicannon loadout, and multicannons are just fun as Hell. It can fit a Class 6 shield (which is Python sized), has more armor, and while it may be slower than the Cobra, there's no good reason an Asp pilot shouldn't be able to fend one off if the pilot is equally skilled. It also has a lot more cargo space than the cobra, even with a combat-fitted loadout. With a Class 5 shield, a shield bank, you can still fit in 88 cargo space. That means you can stack up a lot more missions than you can realistically do with the Cobra, and complete them in one fell swoop.

It's also a superior exploration ship. So there are plenty of reasons to fly the Asp over the Cobra, but if you're too scared to take the risk I can see why somebody would want to play it safe and stick to the Cobra.

missions aren't easier (as in "less difficult") to run in an Asp compared to a Cobra, you can just pick more of the same shitty cargo missions at a time compared to a Cobra (well, technically, you can pick up the same amount, you'll just have to go back and forth a couple more times for them generic fetch quests, and some fetch quests you won't be able to get because of cargo space). 1vs1 the Asp is so much bigger, more sluggish and slower you'd have to be a pretty bad pilot in a Cobra to lose to an Asp. at equal flying skill, an Asp has next to no chance vs anything other than transports (it's hilariously easy to stick to its ass with an Eagle, and not much harder to do with a Viper or Cobra). that the Asp can fit a class 6 shield only means that the top shield costs 16mil, that it's "Pythong sized" is really fucking irrelevant.

and Mortmal in this instance is right. there's pretty much no difference in what you can do between a, f.e., Sidey and a Python, you'll just earn money faster in a Python (to what end i do not know, 'cause after the Python the only way up is the 'Conda and the only thing you're getting is more unladen jump range and a better trading ship to earn even more money so that you can watch that number go up for whatever meaningless reason) and pew pew with more firepower. fuck, they're so frigging incompetent at FDev they prioritized implementing 2 ships (out of 30, not 300) on release that rely on a mechanic that won't be implemented for who knows how many more months after release, over any of the other ~10 that don't. just mind-blowing

I was interested in this until I found out that there is no single player. Not that I mind a MMO and have played Eve for ages...To be fair Eve was a hell of a lot more fun before the nano nerf...Miss my Nanophoon and Nanomach :(

There is singleplayer. It needs always online, but you can start a closed game without any other players messing with it.

There is a huge difference in terms of firepower. Try hunting Anacondas without resorting to the backwards kiting strategy in a Cobra.

it's much easier to stay on its tail and spam chaff with a Cobra than with an Asp. the Asp has a shield that's barely better than a Viper for 32 times the cost, is half as manoeuvrable with 33% more firepower (which is even less than that if you put multicannons in the small hardpoints). that it has more armour is irrelevant, because you should never rely on it and if your shields are down you should run, and it only means you suck and you'll have a heftier repair bill on your hands. the Asp is a worse combat ship than a Cobra, despite the better hardpoint placement, because it handles like 400ton brick and the shield and firepower don't make up for it, unlike the Python. btw, the Cobra is shit at kiting like the Viper 'cause the lateral/vertical thrusters are half as good, but is better at pitching/rolling so staying on it's tail is much easier

The first release trailer would have been a better fit for announcing an xbox release.

From ED forums:
I’m also pleased to announce PC, Mac and Xbox One players will all share the same overarching narrative and galaxy state.

Im sure CMDR xxx360noscopeUrM0M!!!xxx will find a way to teabag people in space while screaming at them with his kiddie voice.

Let us welcome all the xbox live people into the galaxy :negative:

As if ED didn't have enough problems.

It was worth a try. Now I have my peace of mind knowing I don't really need to care about Elite.

for now, they won't be able to interact with the PC players (it may change), meaning yet another instance out of reach that influences everything people do in open, like the megaidiocy of "solo" wasn't enough. Frontier are definitely not a learning animal (and 1.2 just proves yet again they're the most mentally handicapped devs when it comes to balancing. they're so stupid, the mind boggles)

I thought this was Star Citizen thread.

Double lol.

if SC implements 30% of what they plan on release, it will be 10 times the game ED will be in 3 years

Assuming Scam Citizen releases at all. You're just arguing about which turd is lumpier at this point.
