Nah, you need to shift the hue a bit towards yellow to get the same amber glow as all the ED HUD elements.

shihonage didn't you have some kind of bet with someone ITT (ulminati?) that cheats will happen within X months of the game being released (judging by the thread linked in a comment here http://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDanger...nders_claim_players_can_hack_the_game_to_get/, cheating is laughably easy to pull off, and was already happening by at the latest 15.1.2015. so not even a month after release but the security is so pathetic i wouldn't be surprised if it was discovered 2mins after release)

Part of that argument was that the easy reverse-engineering of the game's netcode would also create an offline patch. Looks like that's taking longer than I expected. Surprisingly.

But the game's netcode stank of Diablo1-1996-era obliviousness and "trust to players' goodwill", so hacking was a sure bet. It's essentially "Open Battlenet", because Braben saved money on servers. At some point the hackers might still base an offline patch on this information, except the game may not actually have the longevity and popularity for that to happen.

It's likely got the lifespan of Titanfall/Evolve. A novel flash in the pan.

There are Cheat Engine scripts for it that make it very easy. There's scripts that let you exploit various things for infinite money as well, but those aren't released to the public. This game is peer-to-peer, there's next to zero anticheat aside from some memory offset shuffling.
[...]
You can modify shit like your ammo, shields, hull, all that shit. You can do cargo too, but all cargo transactions are actually brokered through the server, so they'll fail.
But pretty much everything to do with combat is all peer-to-peer, and you can memory inject to your heart's content.

That thread is so sad. :(

I guess this shows that Frontier's claim about all of the magic happening on the server was about as honest as Maxis' and EA's claim of the same thing for SimCity.

Yes except no one is really surprised by EA doign this, but from an indie kickstarter with a lead developper with very good track record fromt he 80-90's theres lot more disapointment and pain.

Everything that went wrong with ED can be tracked back to the decision to focus on online aspect.

Yes you are. Seriously, there is a game at last which does space simulation correctly, and it only needs time to add some content, and you root for its failure? Fuck you!

all this game needs is stuff to do.
even just a more populated bulletin board would help immensely. it's just not possible that on a space station counting millions of inhabitants only 5 of them need any kind of help.
then it needs ships and equipment to work toward to, because the cobra is the best ship already, the asp is just a little bigger but enormously cost ineffective, even bigger ships have no reason to exist at all if you don't play solo.

instead we're getting wings to play in groups no content and retarded goals like "bring us one million tons ore and earn ten credits".

being a mmo (because each and every of its mechanics has been built on it being a mmo), elite needs to be eve with cloches. at the moment it barely manages to be an improvement over the first elite, not even frontier.

Excuse me, but what game did you exactly think you were buying?

Because Elite/Frontier had exactly the same problem. ALL Elite games have had the same problems. Yet this new game all the sudden wouldn't have them because...?

...20+ years have passed. games can be "a little" more advanced than "go fetch" if you have competent designers, which FDev obviously doesn't (missions in Frontier were quite a bit better than the shit we have in ED. f.e. there's nothing even remotely resembling even stuff like this:
arretedemeregardercommeca.png
. and then if you stop and think about the "community goals" and how they're implemented, you realized illiterate monkeys banging on keyboards would come up with something better in 15 minutes)

You don't get it. They screwed the backers they promised an offline single player game and now they seem to be failing, and because of their mmo call. Karma is a bitch.
Fuck them and fuck fanboys like you!

Now let me heat my hands while i watch them burn.

They dont seem to be failling, its a complete unmitigated disaster. So far hacking allows easily , unlimited energy, no shield damage, no hull damage, 2000LY jumps, instant FSD, no FSD cooldown. Focusing on MMO was indeed a serious mistake, but even as solo seeing how incompetent they are for pretty much everything, it would have been bad too.

They got like, what...2 million dollars on kickstarter? I'm not surprised at all that they're cutting corners everywhere they can, does anyone know if they got funding from somewhere else too or just from kickstarter?

they put something like 10mil $$$ out of their own pocket, so the KS money constitutes something like ~15% of their budget

Roofles! There are hackers everywhere the game is haxord. Oh wait, no. I've played it a lot, and never noticed anyone cheating. Hacking is possible, and I'm sure a few players done it, but they are barely noticable.

I get it, you don't get it. Although the game hasn't delivered everything it promised, but at least we have something to play with (or we will be able to play it after some content patches). FFS I can't understand how is ot better to have nothing, than to have a game, which can be pretty good after a few content expansion. This retarded Codex mentality is ridiculous and pathetic to be honest.

Yeah, just let your hand heat and watch them burn. Just don't forget that after everything is burned, you will have nothing new to play with in this genre. (inb4 half assed indie titles).

People were able to top the contributor boards on the community events using these hacks, so its affecting the people who were joining such events , theres evidence of hacks everywhere now.

That's fucking shit then, good thing I didn't pledge into E:D then. I wonder how long it's gonna take them to abandon the development because of the low player numbers.

May I see the source for that this happened? I'm not saying it didn't happened, I just like to see proofs.

Are we still talking about the game that you are already tired with?
I don't want to play it either and if this is the only thing the genre has to offer, i rather it stays dead.
Boy i miss good tactical shooters like the old rainbow six, the 1st ghost recon, the 3rd and 4th swat but guess what, i am not going to support the genre if all i have is Takedown.

What they have so far is a pretty cool demo. Worth zero.

I admit that the game lacks content, that's why I stopped playing. But the game has solid foundations, which will turn out great after a few content patches. But it won't have a chance to turn out good if it dies.

yeah but we paid for elite dangerous, so that was the bare minimum of expectations to get something better than oolite. it doesnt even fullfill that.
