Test the Friendly Fire System
When you shoot and hit a vessel you may be able to avoid committing a crime based on the following criteria:
· The ship was *NOT* targeted by you – targeted ships cannot benefit from these rules
· The ship was shielded – if you cause hull damage you will not benefit from these rules
· The damage was minor – powerful weapons cannot benefit from these rules.
· The damage is infrequent – repeated attacks cannot benefit from these rules.
If you have allied reputation with an NPC ship’s affiliated minor faction, the damage thresholds for turning a ship hostile are increased and the “must be shielded criteria” is removed.
If you are in a conflict zone the damage thresholds for turning allied ships hostile are significantly increased, and the “must be shielded” criteria is removed

Join my PK guild guys.

I need 20 of you to open fire with your weapons on a ship.
When his shields are nearly down, I'll finish him off.

That will make a ton of players rage quit. Mission accomplished.

We have tweaked the amount of damage a small ship can cause upon colliding with larger ships. It should no longer be possible for small ships to destroy large ships through kamikaze attacks.
Lame. Destroying large ships with small planes is the entire POINT of kamikaze attacks.

This actually ended up becoming a PvP exploit. The most common setup was to fit 4 beam lasers on a viper with the strongest available shield generator. Four beam lasers will drain your juice in a few seconds, but the idea is to drop the target's shields and then ram into them at full speed with your own shields up. A highly effective strategy, but also very cheap to the point of practically being griefing. It's a necessary change to balance the multiplayer.

Make shields ineffective against collisions.
Make game effective before you sell it.

v1.1 drops in the next hour.

Client Changes:

- Don't crash if hyperspacing and the ship no longer exists
- Don't clear bounties from the player until resurrect; this means other clients know correct bounty amounts when the player's ship explodes
- Reduce heat overspill from weapons
- Tweaks to Python: it now has a higher max speed and improved boost speeds (to catch those pesky haulers). Also a minor improvement to it's pitch to keep it well above the Anaconda
- Fixed: Controller 'Back' failed on Outfitting Sort Dropdown
- Community initiatives: support an optional top rank of N players instead of 1
- Fix rank icons on community challenges
- Nicer string in community initiative dialog when no rewards available yet
- Fix UI weirdness with community initiatives on bulletin board
- Fed Dropship cockpit geometry was offset in the model file, cockpit has now been placed back in the centre
- Raised health of broadside guns for Fed Capital
- Optimisations to landing pad which should help with distortions inside stations
- Change supersampling options to store multiplier rather than mode
- Change graphics option screen to offer x0.75, x1.5 and x3.0 as well as the existing options
- Fix for menu music being too quiet
- Localisation text update

Changes during the beta phase can be found here:

Beta 1 - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=108887
Beta 2 - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=109985
Beta 3 - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=110561

*supply/demand is now a real factor in the trade economy.
*stars in the skybox fade out if they're behind a nebula.
*new sound effects
*community goals added
*new shaders for cloud formations on gas giants and terrestrial planets
*cities on terrestrial planets now visible on the night side
*explorers who discover new systems now receive credit for it
*combat bonds are graded by the quality of kill: Eagle = 2,000 cr, Anaconda = 18,000 cr

All around there's something for everybody to try out here, and exploration finally offers a real incentive to perform it, if for nothing else than bragging rights.

I think the game will be in good shape after 6 months. I might get back into it after they add some more stuff.

No steam version. Frontier don't want to pay steams 30% of sales cost. Give them another 4-5 months and they'll probably cave in. Gotta get those last shekels squeezed out to fund the expansion.

Skyway the prophetic:

This game can easily win the "most retarded game title on Kickstarter" award.

Why not Elite: Deadly if they decided to try too hard to appeal to Elite fantards?

Elite: Deadly trademark sets tongues wagging
May herald the return of the Thargoids.

Elite: Dangerous developer Frontier has registered a trademark for something called Elite: Deadly.

NeoGAF user "ekim" (via PCGamesN) spotted the trademark on the website of the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM), which handles trademarks in Europe. It was registered by Maguire Boss, an entity also based in Cambridge that has secured trademarks for previous Frontier games.

Deadly is one step above Dangerous in Elite's pilot ranking system. The final and top ranking is Elite.

So what is Elite: Deadly? Some have suggested it's a companion app. Others an expansion to Elite: Dangerous. Frontier declined to comment when contacted by Eurogamer. But it may relate to a previous trademark Frontier registered last year.

That was for the word "Thargoid", which is the name given to the Elite universe's insectoid race who originate from somewhere outside known space.

Thargoids first made an appearance in the original Elite game, but vanished circa Frontier. In July 2014, Frontier chief David Braben told The Average Gamer he wanted Elite: Dangerous version of the Thargoids "to be as terrifying and as alien as we can make them".

Watch this space, then.
