A new video is up about the newly founded Jaques station and the beautiful vistas of the sorrounding systems, narrated by ObsidianAnt's smooth voice.

Mortmal you have spent half of your day today to automatically rate most of the posts at butthurt, not regarding what they say. Everything is alright, buddy? I'm sure you have better things to do than waste you time like this.

So can some players cooperate, gather and destroy that station? Or they are immortal?
They can't, thankfully. It takes weeks, or even months to reach the community goals which build that station, it would be a big fuck you to those who want to move to that distant system just to see that the only station there had been destroyed.

It would of course be an interesting feature, in a galaxy this size the influence of player can only be small and it could simulate an ongoing galactic war.
However stations should be very hard to take out, and players should also be able to build stations (like the new Jacques station)

I've actually seen some stations fired at by AI ships, and I could have sworn there was damage on one. but tbh I didnt understand what was the point as the ships were then quickly destroyed.

Does ED model relativity, redshift, and so forth?
Why do you want to kill fun by turning a videogame into a resource hog physical simulation of reality? What would redshift add to the game in terms of gameplay?

ED needs stuff which improve the gameplay (better missions, atmospheric planets, creation of guilds/corporations), not things like redshift.

Does ED model jerking off on the ship? No!

You are all fucking idiots and get the fuck out you retarded faggots I hate you all go the hell you don't even care about this just come here to troll everyoneaneiffs898433 eeeewfe43tfrqewrf443343ff4ecw

Well, you could enter hyperspace or whatever and experience a local time speed increase but still have to wait while the rest of the players catch up in "normal" time. Didn't you watch Interstellar? :derp:

Well that would be a fun time for the programmers to figure out how to do with thousands of players. :D

Why does one have to play Frontier to rate Elite? Bollocks.
Because Frontier IS Elite - It even says so on the box:
Frontier_elite2_box.jpg

Besides, it's needed for the same reason one should play Doom or even ANY other (newer) FPS when discussing remake/sequel to Wolf 3D.
Seminal works deserve the praise for being seminal, but they are more often than not crap when taken on their own.

Does ED model relativity, redshift, and so forth?
How would you do it in a fucking MMO?

I just imagined modern Wolfenstein game ignoring Wolf 3D, RTCW, etc. and based on this (I mean mainly in terms of presentation).

Even if posting a box shot from 25 years ago is a bit preachy, there is no doubt Frontier was at the time intended to become the successor. In the end it became more of a fork, and like I wrote before the game you are apparently talking about is Frontier II not "Elite III". So there should be someone making that (not Braben). And if it's still not clear: Frontier is Elite, but Elite is not Frontier. The same happened for example with Panzer General where the modern copycat took PG1 as blueprint not the later instalments, and with very good reasons.

I recommend you take ED for what it is, otherwise you might end up comlaining why your new Mercedes has not the features of a Maibach.

After 80 hours I find it is a fantastic game in its own right The reason people criticize this for being pointlessly grindy is that the only play the game "Credits the game", if you give the game a chance it is more comparable to Morrowind in space but with more of a soul (unlike MW I actually read the text). I also think people underestimate how much work has gone into the game, the galaxy and the engine. I particularly mention the engine because the more I get used to it the more I like it, it has some sort of multiprocessor touch to it and I often switch to one thing while the game does another (like using the map while flying in supercruise). If it allowed me to use the onboard panels while going through hyperspace it would be even more impressive).

Ok this is getting tiresome. I cannot convince you that you like the game if you actually dont. Nor do I want to. Either play the fucking game or gtfo, and don't forget to write a 10 page review on Steam how terribly the game sucks.

Man I just love this game. Flooring the throttle in a binary star system reaching 100s of times the speed of light while the slaves in the cargo hold are moaning from the 100s of gs, just never gets old.
The planetary approaches are varied and fun, the variety of the procedural planets is a dream and the sound design is amazing. Also there is actually a lot going on at times. At the moment there is apparently a war spreading out around my area. All sorts of shit happened at Asellus Primus in the last days and it was actually interesting to read the newspapers, so the commies from Eranin declared war on Asellus Primus, and suddenly all weapons dissapeared from the market, ruining a main part of my business. The traffic communicator actually warned me that it was no longer safe to stay. P.S. Steam says I played 90 hours already, not bad for 10 days.
