I would reinstall it, but since Bernie Sanders isn't running, I won't have tuition for the 2-year college I need to re-learn the controls

That's because you can't have time compression in a MMO. It has nothing to do with the genre.

Just Braben chasing after the WoW/EVE bux like a know-nothing retard.

Ok, so I was very sceptical towards this game, until I got Oculus Rift and bought it for the sake of trying the VR stuff. And I'm totally sucked in since. I was expecting it to be completely dull, with no story and nothing going on apart from the randomly hauling cargo and doing repetitive missions, but the devs actually develop a story on the fly. And just like in the old Elite/Frointier games, you can either join in, or follow it by reading newspapers only. Currently I'm doing bounty-hunter bucks in a pure combat oriented Vulture, but once I get enough cash for a high end multipurpose/combat-explorer, ie Python, I'm going to join in the storyline about Jaques Station and alien artifacts. 56mil for the ship and probably a another 50-80mil for upgrades. Seems like a lot o of grind, but once you find a system with warring factions and get allied with one of them, it's really a quick buck. Yesterday I managed to get 25mil in about 3 hours, just smashing pirates. The key is to get multiple missions at the same time against a single faction, so you get paid a shitton of money for doing one job, plus cash in on bounties.

don't waste time and money, all you need is an asp explorer. anything bigger is just a better target.

edit: oh well, 25m in a single day? the cash definitely flows now. waste all the money you want.

Well, it did take me quite some time to get an ally status with a faction, only then well paid missions started. With friend status you can get 300-800k per mission, with ally I get over 4 mln. Pick 3-4 of them to do at the same time and you get these 25mln after cashing in bounties as well.

Exactly what happened to me. I thought it would suck but was totally blown away

Though the trading missions are getting op and repetitive after while, currently I am more excited with the potential of exploring and mining. The trick for me is to not use the online tools, otherwise I was just farming money and started over a new career at some point.

Now without tools I also made millions with trading but at a much slower pace. I only accept missions over 200K and will commit any crime for 400K. But I dont recommend to take on more than 2-3 missions (one for the journey out and one back). Otherwise I constantly get redirected to other stars, and it quite often happened that I got the notification after I touched down.

The best is actually triangular trade like the old Europe-Africa-America-Europe slave route. I get narc and slaves from anarchy, bring them to a high tech or industrial world. I also make stops at anarchy industrial to buy large volumes of weapons and battle weapons.

The game has been quite hard on me once I got out of the comfort zone of my tried smuggling routes. I struggled the whole day, it has been almost a disaster. I got greedy, had put almost my entire fortune in a Type 6 transporter mining operation and after I lost the ship + countless hours and millions in metallic rings I struggled for several hours to bring at least the ship back. I could cry when I think of the Painite and Platinum etc I had found and what it could have been worth if I could have honored all the contracts :)

After this disaster I just got back to Anlave with a 90t load of imperial slaves, landmines and personal weapons, lost large part of it through an open cargo hatch while scooping fuel :) and then had big problems finfing a place to sell it with profit. Man I'm just glad I made it and after I sold the goddamn transporter I still have 4,7 million, probably what I started with. I will now return to my Cobra 3 which is a cash mashine, can outrun every ship that is stronger and can dispatch the small ones with ease.

Most profitable at the moment?
Advanced Medicines? I can easily make 2K per tonne over short distances.

A new, very enjoyable video from ObsidianAnt, mainly about community goals. Maybe it gives someone ideas about what to do next:

Gave the game a spin after a long hiatus. Funny thing was that I didn't know how to activate the Horizons expansion, so I couldn't check out the new content. And when I figured out after a few hours of regular play, I was too tired to launch the game again. Next time.

Anyway, I just did a few quick missions with my Cobra MKIII to have 300-400K on my back account and ease myself back into the game. It was a long time ago I played.

I'm in Yingo right now, doing missions for the Green Party of Yingo (fighting for the enviroment, obviously). Already got a Cordial relationship with them, so I hope they will give me missions which pay better next time.

I sort of burned out after 140h. It was really fun but now NPCs are ruining it for me.

It's not like they are invincible. But there are just too many of them in places where it makes no sense. If I discover a new star and want to do some mining on my discovery I dont expect to be attacked within minutes by half a dozen pirates within 30 minutes.

So far I see three 4 games: trading, fighting, exploration and mining. Trading is fun because of flying and landind but becomes European Truck Simulator. Fighting is also fun but not really what I am after. Exploration has the most potential but is incredibly time consuming and does not have much gameplay involved except fuel scooping. And mining is totally ruined by NPCs which attack you light years from the next station for a few units of Bauxit, with ships costing up to 100,000,000 credits.

Soon it will be possible to launch a fighter from your ship, you could use that to fend off these pirates if they attack your slow cargo ship.

From what I read it will only be possible to launch Sidewinders, it will eat up most of th cargo space and make escapes impossible. But thanks that might actually be a fun feature.

This is a nice feature but it does not solve the problem that miners will constantly be attacked by better ships. They should simply aim for a realistic density of ships. If I discover a planet that wasn't on the map before I would expect no or only very low traffic. But as it is even new discovered stars feel like Grand Central station.

Makabb is currently the greatest retard at rpgcodex.

All he does the whole day is bump the NMS sky with ridiculous shit that no one believes because he thinks it's funny. In school he was probably completely alone and beaten up because he was a permanently annoying moron.
