Is there a time limit as some people say, or does it dissappear only when I leave the station? I sometimes take lots of time for such decisions and dont want to lose my stuff.

I only read a reddit thread about this, which said that you only lose them if you log out. I assume there are no time limit. Might be useful to try it out with some cheap module.

Has somebody made a truck mod? Because that's what it currently feels like, ETS2 in space.

Ok so now I see what could be the problem here. I'd ended up stacking missions over missions because I just looked at the star, not the actual station. Then end result was that I began realizing that I had to fly to practically every station in every system on the way, and my cargo hold was constantly full with stuff I had to bring elsewhere. I sometimes landed on stations without any reason, either because I had not fullfilled a mission or because the commodity I was looking for was not sold there. At other times I ended up leaving another station without the consumer goods that would net me 65K somewhere else because I hadn't checked the commodity market.

So now I had to make a clean sheet. I deleted most of the remaining data transfer missions and crap that gives me under 10K. I now try to concentrate on just a few missions that pay most.

Well, it sometimes happens when I've flown around a bit before I select my target. I get out of it by choosing different targets but it sometimes sucks. Maybe it is just the fact that I sometimes fly around and look at the scenery and not hit FSD immediately.

I also lost over 300,000 credits because the game redirected me in the very last minute to Hedley Relay station in Styx (2?), but the planet is undiscovered and I couldnt locate it. I even discoverd a fourth planet way out, but not the goddamn 2nd. After a lost hour or so I had to sell the stuff somewhere else and accept a fine.

Otherwise I was doing quite well since I got the Adder. I was getting some very good contracts (some >250K) and could make my first million. Now I could continue flying the Adder or get the next ship. What do you guys think about the Viper Mk IV? It seems a good heavy fighter that could be turned into something of a trader as well, just with way more firepower and potential.

Yeah, trading missions have been very profitable. I only had to learn to accept only the really high paying contracts, concentrate on them and ignore the chickenfeed.

Still being around the start area that I now know quite well seems to help though, my priority was not to get overwhelmed by too many new systems and make money as a trader first.

How come if game sold 1.4 millions only 5000 people are online daily? It is THAT bad?
The only guys who really likes it are explorer who love to contemplate and take good screenshots , and people with a group of friends roleplaying., having fun pretty much like kids have fun together beating each other with sticks and rocks.Anything could be fun with a group of friends, mine were quickly bored of it.

Oh my, a multiplayer game is enjoyed best when you are playing with others. Terrible.

Unbelievable that some people who don't play the game, or didn't even play the game at all have so much information about how others play it. Visiting the forums shows that things like "only the explorers are playing" is bullshit. The game has a constant 3-5000 players playing it every given time, and people are doing all kinds of stuff there.

The negativity around this game is a really interesting case.

Going by the "mixed" review I fully expected this to be shit, considering that these days every cheap browser game with 2 features gets at least "Very Good". What I found was a game extremely high production quality that gets written down by half of the players, while there is nothing wrong with it from the point of view of a former Elite player. If you find this gameplay repetitive, that's a fair point, but then you can not have played Elite before because it was even worse than that. And yes the internet connection is bad (I had 1 connection error which sucks) and I would have ranted about this 5 years ago, but since I have become used to other games which require an internet connection it is not such a big issue.

The game has some problems with the interface, and the loading screens in menus suck, but 40 hours went into it before I even knew. I can't say that about some other games with top reviews (the famous GTAV in comparison is shallow as a puddle). It's also neither shallow nor overly repetitive if you play it right, that is not so much concentrate on getting the very best ship in the game in the least amount of time, but take your time, get some meaningful tasks and make a place for yourself.

Such games are nothing for people without patience, who can't wait to get at their target and hit "J" all the time.

after frontier, in 1994, you can't give people elite AGAIN twenty years later.

Aha, exactly what I expected. Ian Bell went in a different direction and build a new following around Frontier, but there are a lot of people who were still waiting for another Elite.
I never played Frontier (tbh it looked a bit overambitious to me) and ED gives me that feeling again. If you were waiting for a modern Frontier you must wait until Ian Bell makes his move and not complain about a game being true to its root.

so if i make a tetris clone i must expect the same sales and praise because making the same goddamn game after 30 years is perfectly fine.
i see now.

it's a 30 years old game's reboot. i played it already 30 years ago.
i demand more. i expect more. technology allows it.
You can't honestly say that it is exactly the same game is it was. It looks better, controls better and the individual activities (combat, fighting, exploration etc) are expanded. There is nothing wrong with ED being similar to the original Elite. Some of its shortcomings come from being too different from it, like the MMO design of quests.
