That's the greatest music video in history.

I love how the winter rivers create natural VFX.

Well I finally got myself a good custom nation game. I use 400 points cause they made trade shit too expensive. I still only took one trade node province though. I managed to release Granada from Portugal, that being my war to release Leon from Castille made them lose the chance to conquer Granada. I also tanked France. In the end Burgundy came in and curbstomped them just after I wiped them out, soon I will to to war against Burgundy to release Holland, Flanders, and return 2 Champagne cores. Then I'll drop the bomb on England to return Calais to Flanders. I took the sneaky move of taking Empire, plus 20% morale in my traditions plus you usually get a morale advisor, then I max my leader stats and set focus to military so that I have the first mil tech before anyone else. +.5 morale plus +40% morale is fantastically OP. Also once I reach my second idea, first land tradition +1 and then shock bonus +1, I can eternally get unstoppable generals. Plus I got the Last Jousting Tournament. Once I take defensive as my 5th idea I'll be so strong. I would like to take it second to get +3mil tradition in the first 40 years of the game but I need Humanism and then Indluence, took dip first, and then Administrative for the 50% annexation cost reduction that goes with my national ideas.

Hehehohoo, custom nations can be used to quickly insert a good dose of destruction and mayhem onto the world map, especially once modded a little for more flexibility and goodies (like, say, ancient Egyptian culture from EU Rome to combine with, say, Hellenic paganism for turbolulz of AI Khemet pummeling muslims left and right).

Well, shame that the patch only fixed the unit graphics bug for custom nations half-way, since those revert back to generic rebel colors on a loaded save. Which is rather lame.

It's also a bit lame that province cultures (well, aside from first province, that is) or base tax can't be altered by nation designer.

Also, don't know yet about the Inti and Maya nations, but at least Nahuatl nations have high rapetrain potential if reformed succesfully (basically reforms turn Nahuatl into a religion of condensed awesome, and getting rid of Doom is just the final touch; Doom is a pain in the ass tho).

Fired it up again after wimmin update, disabled wimmin DLC in the launcher. :smug:

No CTDs on loading saves as some reported in the tacticular thread, but have they changed a bunch of rules again?

When I first started up all my colonies had gone to 55ish lib desire, I think that was part of that real DLC though, right? Then they all had +5% lib des events. The exact same event, across the board. Why have an event if everyone will always get it, why not just raise the base by 5%? Then after playing a while their desire was back down to 15% or so. :retarded:

But the weirdest thing I experienced was after a war with Spain where I grabbed a big part of SA west coast and Siberia, when I checked after about half the coring period was through, the provinces all gave 0% OE. Wat? They were all distant overseas, so I don't know. I decided to rape Mali to test, but I do suffer OE from all the provinces I took there, and I'm fairly sure that's also distant overseas since I'm Netherlands, but maybe I misremember.

So now returning cores gives AE, well apparently it has since 1.6 but I never fucking noticed until the current patch. I think the issue is that I play custom nations with no allies now and also that they changed AE again so its more of an issue. Fucking Johan...

Ah, this game is so great. Just jumped in a few days ago, and already has eaten away at my life and school work. I'm playing as Castile (Now I'm Spain). One the the most satisfying feelings ever was integrating Aragon into Spain. I also created Florida and am slowly eating up NA, taking the place of England historically. This game is so amazing, I can't believe I didn't discover this till recently.

As soon as you've got the basics, AdvancedHero, look into VeF.

Pick Poland for your first game.

Wait until you play the first time with a mod that improves everything ;)

eh mods in eu usualy add shit ton of things not realy needed.
Right. Like... better balancing, more nations, more diplomacy, more (fitting) provinces, more challenges, more intertwined idea and research, ...
Seriously, vanilla EUIV is fun and a good game, but without mods it is a relatively easy game of painting the world pretty quickly, even with small nations, and just not very realistically.

Mods like VeF turn the gameplay around quite a lot. Trying stuff like what I posted some on the last page with Merina would either not be possible in vanilla (as not too much though is put into minors) or far too easy.

The VEF GUI, due to limitations of modding, made me want to kill myself.

I generally like VeF though I'm not too sure about the natural government evolution system. Seems like I'm stuck with Feudal Monarchy for centuries.

Yes, changing government type systems (as well as Modernization) takes a very long time.
That is definitely wanted, but I can see that not everyone would like it.

So what's good about VeF?
I mostly like it for the stability, WE, inflation and vassalization mechanics. They all take time and events to progress, no magic wand to wave to make a problem go away.
I can't remember what M&T does to Idea groups, but VeF's also adds/changes those for some variety.
Overall, VeF's changes are less extensive and less complex than M&T. It's more like vanilla done right.

Should I try it if I like MEIOU and Taxes?
Probably not. I like both and wouldn't say one is better than the other, but they try to improve in different areas, so if you're still enjoying one there's no obvious reason to switch to another.

Agreed with all above.
There are no real "problem solve"-buttons. You cannot buy stability, you cannot click somewhere and are suddenly modernized.

The "stability" reminds me, though...
Whenever I tried MEIOU, I had crashes constantly - which is really annoying with a game with loading times like those of EUIV.
It was the main reason I switched to VeF. Which I had only very few crashes with.
