Just to be super-duper in the clear on this: eXoDOS 6 is virus-checked, right?

Because I'm making a backup copy of it, and two games were flagged down for allegedly containing viruses ('Les Manley 1' and 'Sid & Al's Incredible Toons').

I've decided to allow them for now because I believe they're false positives, but a confirmation would be nice.
Ironic that Les Manley is alleged to contain a virus, because if you did get rid of that, it would be no loss. It's quite terrible. Yeah, I know that's missing the point of the collection...

Some DOS executables trigger false positives in modern virus scanners. As for whether the eXoDOS team scans the collection for *DOS viruses*, I don't know.

But those DOS executables can't even be started under Windows if that's what you're afraid of, so even if they contained a DOS virus, it could only infect other EXEs within the emulated DOS environment and that's it.

Again, zero chance of even that if you use eXoDOS as intended with per-game configs and directory mounts.

30 years ago the only (100% certifiably known) commercial Icelandic MS-DOS game was released. Called 'Sægreifinn' [The Sea Baron] it is a business sim where you try your hand in Iceland's fishery market.

It has been unavailable for most of those years. Preservation efforts have proven futile as while a few boxed copies still exist, their owners were asking exorbitant prices for them.

That changed yesterday. A user uploaded the game to the Internet Archive. It runs in DOSBox, but unfortunately it's a victim of the time when Microsoft changed their character maps (~1995/96) so that several Icelandic character symbols got changed into others.

A scan of the manual is included, but it's in Icelandic and needs translation. Images of the maroon-colored code sheet are also included to defeat the copy protection.

This game is NOT in any game collection out there, and hasn't had the chance to be either... until now.

Rincewind Could you pass this on to the team? If they want I can translate the manual, at least.

Unkillable Cat Nice find! I've passed your message on to the team. Do note, however, that eXoDOS is for English only titles, as far as I know, or for foreign titles that can be enjoyed without knowing that particular foreign language.

This is my first ever PC game. Don't disrespect it. It's great. I started learning English playing it.

I believe, exactly these two games _are_ infected. And someone on reddit confirmed the virus in Sid & Al game. Les Manley is weird. Exo said, he imagined his own retail copy - and it triggers the same virus warning as all others. Maybe false positive, but I wouldn't insert this floppy in your real PC.

Harmless otherwise though, as they are reported as boot viruses for once (so cannot harm dosbox), and they even don't used for second (floppies are included for sake of preservation, gamess don't use them).

Thanks for the reference to this rarity! I am not with eXoDOS, but it will be included into Total DOS Colelction and Old-Games.ru :)
The issue with Icelandic character symbols is simple: you have to launch it in DOSBox with:
keyb is 861 ega9.cpx
https://github.com/TritonDataCenter/sdcboot/blame/master/freedos/cpi/ega9.cpx

I happen to own Sid & Al's myself (2 copies of the original disks even) so it's possible I could 'fix' this problem myself. I'd need to get my Pentium III-computer back up and running first, though.

Awesome!

DOUBLE Awesome! I have a chunk of text files that were written with the old character symbols, this may help me access those properly.
