The latter is closer to being correct though. If she's depicted with black hair it's because she's wearing fake hair for meeting her subjects — can't remember the word for it right now. She'd also have a very non-natural skin color.

Classic Jewish trick: twist semantics to the breaking point in order to Gotcha! you. AC:Origins is as much about Rome as Crusader Kings 2 is about Song Dynasty China.

Also let me rephrase myself and immunize truth from Jewish tricks: No cRPG with above 8bit graphics about Ancient Rome has ever been made. Until announcement of Expeditions: Rome

Why is she black?

Skin tone looks more or less the same to me(actually lighter in the game portrait).
Cleopatra had either blonde or red hair.
Which one?
Wasn't there like 4 Cleopatras?

According to historians, this is what she looked like

They say maybe she was a redhead, but i'd take a hot ebony(although she's not really black in that in-game portrait but more like kebab/pajeet) over a big nosed Jew any time of the day.

So, cdkeys is listing it as a release date for 13 January 2022 (with some discount as they usualy have)?

Legit?

Note that cdkeys is not your typical reseller of shady second hand keys, but more like "greenmangaming from India" (yeah I know it sounds contradictory ).

I am almost ready to jump on it.

Have they even announced a postponing to early 2022 though? Might still be a late December release otherwise.

No they haven't.

I wouldn't normally bother with some release date from strange site, but cdkeys is generally cosidered transparent (e.g., no need to even set up your account - you just buy as a stranger with one transaction).

Here, I am just thinking they may have spilled the beans prematurely.

(which would also mean we will get the official anouncement within a few days)

The Steam release date changing to Coming Soon recently is a fairly typical sign of slippage.

I doubt she was pale white though. She definitely had some tan.

The elites of the period generally avoided direct exposure to the sun when possible. Noticeable tan on a woman was the sign of a low born, or a slave, and the association of unblemished skin and beauty was widespread throughout the Hellenic world.

There were no curtains back then in Egypt. That's why they built the pyramids(so they could sleep better during the day).

The novel setting of Conquistador I think helped advertise it and people remember it too. Type Rome or Vikings into the steam search bar and ten million games with that in the title pop up.
Sure but this will also literally be first high budget Historical cRPG set in time of ancient Rome

Lucasarts also made a little-remembered console-exclusive turn-based tactical RPG(!) called Gladius back in 2003: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gladius_(video_game)

Somebody should do an Enhanced Edition PC port of that, sounds interesting.

Gladius is set in roman themed fantasy culture (which IS overused), not historic Rome (which is not widely used outside of RTS). It is an awesome (if extremely poorly balanced) game.

Yeah, it's impressive Cleopatra managed to negotiate her way into defacto independent leadership of a reasonably prominent part of the ancient world as a woman but, no matter how great the reward, she was still prostituting herself.

I doubt it was a sexual connection. Caesar, Mark Antony etc could fuck any piece of pussy they damn well wanted from the four corners of the ancient world. It probably was a fairly calculated thing. Cleopatra knowing how to treat a man wouldn't have hurt things either.

Cleopatra named her eldest son (for whom the birth date matches up) "Caesarion" (which is effectively "Caesar Jr.") and the man who would later be known as Augustus had said son killed (why else if he weren't a threat to the title of heir of Caesar?). You say Caesar "could fuck any piece of pussy" he wanted as though he'd be uninterested in a woman of high birth and status in her early 20s that was also a potential political ally (nevermind that Caesar was also known to fuck the relatively low status Servilia, Brutus's mom, when she was in her 40s).

God I loved that game. I still load it up on my xbox emulator sometimes (legal, I have an original xbox that I got the bios files from and I own the game itself).

It was down right criminal how little advertising it got for a LucasArts game just because it wasn't sucking on the teat of Star Wars (essentially killing it's chance of ever having a proper sequel).

But yes, it doesn't really fit in the "historical Rome" category....like at all. Pure fantasy equivalent.
