You're going to use a single train?
Yes!

Well, not quite as I’ll keep the fluid trains separate (although I’ll still have a set of ground trains and a set of space trains) and I’ll need to setup some trains to bring stuff the other direction. Mostly because I have no idea how much stuff I’ll need in that direction (I’ve only seen the modules for now) and there’s only so many spare wagons I’m willing to keep as “just in case I missed them” (you can see some wagons have constant combinator next them, that’s all the manufactured products I’ve found that I can make on Nauvis but haven’t researched yet).

Also, it seems space age embargo has dropped, so best be careful of spoilers for the next week.
My biggest concern is Steam switch itself back online and updating the game, breaking my save. By the time I finish this and want to go back to Factorio I’ll have forgotten most of what I’ll have seen anyways.

There are like 20 different old versions to choose from right now in the "betas" tab of steam, I would be very surprised if they change this strategy. The odds of your game being bricked by auto update is very low (mods otoh might brick if you click update button there).

Also, did they even announce price yet? Steam doesn't have it.

If memory serves right it’s $35.

Oh, I didn’t realise that’s how they’re handling it, that’s reassuring. Guess it’s been a long time since I played Paradox games and paid attention to that stuff.

I just found a recent interview with Kovarex and it seems Space Age is the end for Factorio and probably their next game might be a RPG!

It'll probably suck, major genre shifts from developers rarely end well. I'm sure it'll be interesting though.
I he doesn't have even 1/10 of my GM skills, then I wonder how he would make a RPG? BG I was tabletop session made into computer game, BG2 was a sequel of successful product.

I would rather have something not bound by existing genres and what is expected from them. I don't care if it is not "RPG" enough. I had no idea that I wanted to build a giant factory on an alien planet before playing Factorio.

Not sure why I ever thought this run would be a nice quick and dirty thing to do. I guess I had the impression that the warp stuff scaled a lot harder than the world difficulty? Maybe it would have if I were a better player. Enemy boss attacks on my base have become more frequent. This guy chewed right through my walls even as I spammed to rebuild them as fast as possible, I ran out of hundreds in about 10-15 seconds I think. Destroyed a lot of turrets and their ammo as well, on top of both my personal construction bots, the roboport's bots, and all the repair packs and turrets they were trying to use/place. Despite that obscene cost, it's still totally worth it when one of these fuckers dies. Dropped 400 blue circuits, a value of ~10k iron and 16k copper + chems and production time and energy, on top of ~160 blue science as well. Also some potions but the potions are mostly crap except the level up ones. It's a good thing biter AI is shit, because if it was intelligent I could not have won. The only really frustrating thing is that I don't actually have a good use for the blue circuits right now. I'm sitting on like 800 of them. Need to research yellow science and make myself a fusion reactor I think, along with some laser defense components. Would be immensely helpful for clearing out nests and biter bosses weak to lasers. Also, I need to start making use of slowdown capsules. Never had a need of them before, but they're actually pretty effective and last a long time. We're at warpzone 120 now, and starting evolution on each zone is 18%.

In case you want to know what a 'bad' planet looks like at ~19% evolution, this is where it spawned my mission objective on this planet. Note that I'd need to defend it for 8 minutes as well after putting in the items. Fat fucking chance. The game has actually mostly stopped giving missions on easier planets, at least until ~10 minutes have passed already, at which point evolution has started making medium biters and spitters. Still a way better option on those planets, as I can pass the first chunk of time setting up mines and adjusting things, and evolved biters from small bases aren't a problem if you destroy said bases with rockets and shotgun blasts. Combat shotgun has actually been pretty nice as a cost efficient means of blowing up nests, now that I've got power armour and enough shields to ignore anything short of stacked clouds or bosses. Zone 120 might have been a waste of time, but pulling in 20k resources from a single mine isn't out of the question now, and between the outposts, teleporter and harvester gates, multiple mines is a thing I can do now too if I'm so inclined. Fuel costs for the base have actually become noteworthy now, 10k coal is no longer a vast number I can forget about, especially with military science eating through it as well. So much need for military science, as it applies to a bunch of the warp techs.

Are you sure? Who the hell reads the intro sentence? :negative:
For some reason I had an impression that they're adding several planets you can freely choose from plus one last "boss" planet you access after all the others.
Good news, I glanced at the Nilaus video and on the star map I am pretty sure I saw an extra connection leading off-screen beyond the already known five planets.

Wasn't the spidertron not announced until the 1.0 release? Or do I remember incorrectly? If that is the case, they already left some surprises in the past, although a whole planet is a bit bigger than the spidertron.

The surprise will be a giant spidertron that can reach between asteroids :shittydog:
