enderal and nehrim are total conversions, not overhauls.

I've already played the base game on console and know what I think of it (decent looter shooter when played on survival mode, not a good RPG or a good Fallout game). Fallout 4 Enhanced Edition by Augspeed is not too far out from a 1.2 release and will probably turn FO4 into a somewhat decent game.

It will be compatible with Wabbajack which means you'll be able to install the entire thing by pressing one button.

That's the one I would recommend waiting for. One of the best features that F4EE 1.2 will include is the (optional) complete removal of the Shaun plot from the main character's story, meaning you can roleplay as any character you like.

Currently there are no other good overhauls that I would recommend unless you are a veteran modder and thus able to make your own customized modlist.

I can guarantee, without having played it or even knowing what the name is, that it is not good and/or it will be unfinished

I'm playing Fallout 4 at the moment. I want to try Frost so I thought I'd have another go at the base game for a bit to get used to it before tackling Frost. With the mods I'm using it's actually been really enjoyable.

I'm using Wasteland Survival (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/45847/). It's a semi TC designed to be used with survival mode and turns off level scaling for enemies, changes perks and loot lists, rebalances weapons and a whole bunch of other things. Basically it makes the game a whole lot harder and also a more varied, enjoyable experience. You're a lot more limited on weight with this mod than normal survival mode so it makes armor and weapon choices more tactical. Like it actually makes sense to drop an armor piece that is too heavy even if it has better AR than what you have. The perks are nerfed, maybe a bit too much IMO (you get 5% extra damage for a rank of a gun perk instead of the base game's 20%) and the mod author added some old memes into the skill descriptions which is lame (lone wanderer becomes chad wanderer etc) but otherwise the changes to the perks are excellent. You seem to level slower as well, but that could just be because I'm running low INT (you only get 9 stat points to assign when starting).

I recommend using Another Green Mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/29873), Darker Nights (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/191) and Vivid Weathers (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/15466) as well. Having trees everywhere not only makes the game look a lot better (while still looking PA) it also reduces visibility so you get lost more and get surprised by enemies easier. The darker nights is essential too. It gives functionality to the day night cycle and planning your time becomes more important (you can't see shit at night). I'd recommend the second darkest setting, that's what I use.

One thing I will say is that I am getting occasional CTDs with this mod list. I'm not sure if that's actually the mods or just the inherent instability of the base game though.

I've basically finished my playthrough of fallout 4 (didn't finish, but played enough of it) with the horizon mod.
Was pretty alright though I didn't quite like how specials weren't changed much, if at all, 1% vats accuracy increase per perception point? Lol?
I might try and replay it again some other time when that fallout 4 EE will get released, it's based upon horizon but makes more changes ontop of it.
