I don't really see what's too unbelievable about that considering that Bethesda was tiny back then and games weren't anywhere near as big of a industry as they are today.

The only thing odd about it is he claims to be a huge Ultima fan yet was desperate for a job with the people who made Arena

He wanted Ultima fully FP maybe.

Remember, either him or Pete (same thing really) said he was disappointed Starcraft 2 is not FP. I'm not making this up.

FP = First Person?

Because if it is, he got his wish with Ascension.

If this is a Rust clone does this mean you'll be able to lose everything to another player? I can't see that flying with the mainstream audience.

Fallout is like Star Wars now.

The last Star Wars thing I've seen was Phantom Menace, but I've read the newer movies are all filled with nostalgia throwbacks. That seems to be more than what Bethesda has done with Fallout. I don't think Bethesda ever cared what fans of the original games would think. To be fair, I'm not sure Bethesda even knew what made Fallout's universe unique to begin with.

They are averse to the idea of uniqueness itself if what they did to Cyrodiil for Oblivion is any indication.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.

If someone inside Bethesda is saying it's a Rust clone, odds are it will look about as much like Rust as Fallout 3 looked like Fallout 1&2.

Bethesda doesn't strike me as anywhere near daring enough to meaningfully alter the Rust survival-FPS formula, though they could certainly prove me wrong. What they did with Fallout 3 was not particularly daring so much as it was lazy IMO, but w/e

If they do fuck with the Rust formula it'll probably be to care-bear it and cut out PvP, I think.

The Kotaku guy insisted the game will have story and quests, if I recall correctly, so the "innovation" could be mixing Rust with Fallout 4, basically. Still an online survival game but "with a narrative focus and solo play friendly style unique to the genre." I can hear that echoing on an E3 stage as I type it.

In Fallout76 Harold is the new master. Angry at the lone wanderer for how you treated him in oasis, or enlightened by being one with nature, a sentient sapling of his will blows away and drops into a secret government created timemachine.

Lol what?

Guys we have like 3 days left. We'll see what was right and wrong here soon. Hopefully gameplay too.
