Kickstarter is what counts , so Wasteland did not reach 3 mill, and less than double fine.

Considering they get a greater % of the Paypal funds, I'd say they are more important.

Either way, it's been a great run, and it's a good time to be an RPG fan. Congrats to Brian Fargo et al. :salute:

Watching wrap party video now. Can barely hear MCA over the background chatter.

DF has 25,000 odd more people backing it for these reasons, yet has less than 400,000 more dollars in funding, giving 10 dollars less per pledge on average than Wasteland 2. Had DF been funded at W2's rate they would have raised 4.3 million.!

DF actually had big average till near the end of the kickstarter. At the end of the day they did got almost 10% more then Wasteland 2, but they will spend 200k$, and some time on documentary. We don't know how important was the first big game being funded factor, how important was Tim Schafer humor, and we don't know how important the documentary was. I wouldn't jump to any strong conclusions based on the numbers that they did, they were close.

According to their charts, they are actually giving the documentary close to 400k (15% of their total funding after deducting fees). In the end, W2 will have a slightly higher budget for the actual game than DFA most likely.

How much budget can you need for an adventure game? Probaby only need half that. But it means they can make more stuff, hopefully more like Monkey Island less like the new stuff.

Well they'd better be closer to the first 3(yeah, the third was just as good, fuck the haters), than the fourth one....:shudder:

All I was suggesting was that W2 wasn't a fail like someone said pointing out that DFA was relatively less successful even as it had many more backers(for the reasons I listed).

TBH I'm a bit burned out by adventure games, just don't have the patience to pixel hunt or merge the toothbrush with the lawnmower and teddy bear to make a helicopter like in the old days. The only exception is the impending Tex Murphy KS. Now THAT is a game I hope gets the moneys needed.
